The Hoffman House restaurant, in the scenic Hudson Valley, opened for business in June of 1977. The building is a fine example of Early American Dutch rubble architecture featuring wide planked random width board floors, a fire place in each of the main rooms and many small multi-level rooms.The Hoffman House is located at the corner of the historic Stockade district in Kingston NY, and once served as fortification and a lookout. Today the Hoffman House serves a continental fare, featuring steaks, fresh seafood, pasta specialties and homemade artisan desserts.     For a chain- excellent. Even were it not a chain- excellent. We were celebrating our petite wedding dinner for 8 on a Saturday evening. Server congratulated us upon greeting. Beverages arrived quickly, as dud warm rolls. Team service here - again, excellent. Appetizers arrived within 20 minutes- impressive for a Saturday. Calamari, Wagu meatballs, pork belly- all outstanding and enough to share. Our guests had everything from steak to seafood. 1 steak was undercooked from order but guest said it tasted amazing and kept it. Scallops (5) over risotto with pea emulsion- was superb. Scallops melted in my mouth!! The main negative was we waited a tremendous amount of time for our check- close to 25 minutes, and secondary was the acoustics- very difficult to hear across the rectangle table. Other than that- most definitely recommend!

    Don’t think twice about dining at Troutbeck. Everything was wonderful from the time I entered until I was finished. The dishes I ate were divine, a really enjoyable salad and a clever risotto dish. They skimp on nothing. The portions are beyond adequate. The staff is just wonderful, friendly, helpful and efficient. If you are in Dutchess County make it part of your stay.

    Went for a birthday dinner. Service and servers were outstanding. Lovely ambiance and quiet thought to be fair we were there very early evening. Oue sausage appetizer was delicious and a 5. I was slightly disappointed with the half roasted duck. It may be I am spoiled as we have eaten duck all over the world and the best duck I have had, the skin was crispy little to no fat with moist meat below. My duck dish though tasty did not have a crispy skin and the breast meat was somewhat dry. Dessert was classic apple taste and is was good. Overall good experience.
