The Grain House Restaurant is located on the picturesque 10-acre estate of the Olde Mill Inn in Basking Ridge, NJ. The Grain House structure was originally built as a barn in the 1760’s and was used to store grain for American Revolutionary soldiers. The barn was later moved to its current location and opened as a restaurant in the 1930’s. Today, the Grain House is a renowned restaurant in North/Central New Jersey, with a comfortable, casual ambiance. The restaurant serves innovative, traditional and contemporary interpretations of American cuisine with some added international accents, prepared under the direction of Executive Chef John Benjamin. Delicious homemade desserts complete the menus, which are revised several times a year.     My wife and I celebrated our anniversary here last week. It was great to take advantage of the valet parking (better than driving around looking for a spot) and the hostess was excellent at getting us checked in and seated on a busy afternoon. Had a drink at the wonderful bar before heading to our table. The meal was very good with excellent ambiance. The only part of the meal we would caution is the portion sizes are somewhat modest, so if your very hungry be sure to order a few apps. The other issue is the restaurant part of the hotel which is not directly in the downtown so unable to walk around after dinner unless you drive back into town. Not a huge issue but just be aware if you're looking to hop around town after, you will either have to take a long walk or simply drive a minute back into the downtown. Otherwise, a solid spot and definitely recommended if you are looking to a try a new spot in Summit.
