Went to Highland Laddie last night for a bit of a treat, and honestly… I’m still thinking about it this morning. We kicked things off with roasties and curry sauce—crispy, golden, and full of flavour. The kind of snack that makes you wonder why you ever bothered with plain chips. Then came the Whitstable oysters—easily the best oysters we’ve ever had. Fresh, briny, and basically transporting us straight to the Kent coast. Now let’s talk sausage roll. This wasn’t your average Greggs grab. No. This was the greatest sausage roll known to man. Bold claim, but true. Flaky, meaty perfection. The steak? Cooked absolutely spot on, paired with a peppercorn sauce that deserves its own standing ovation. And the keema shepherd’s pie? Unreal. Comforting, rich, subtly spiced—and if there was coriander in there, it knew its place (i.e. undetectable, thank you chef). Even the house lager, the “Laddie Lager”, was a dream—crisp, cold, and just what you want alongside a peppery steak or a hot pie. Yes, it’s a little on the pricier side, but honestly? Worth every penny. The food, service, and atmosphere were all top notch. Already planning our next visit.

Myself and two friends shared 6 plates on the LS18 deal. The food was amazing! We couldn't fault it and there was more than enough. We really liked the slightly larger plates (which count as 2 of your choices) especially as we were sharing. The staff were friendly and attentive without being intrusive. A highly enjoyable evening and great value for money. Would highly recommend and will definitely be going back.

This was the first time we had all been there , everything was really good but one thing that spoilt it was the tables are not big enough for the food , drinks and cards on . We heard lots of people say it needs to be bigger .

Another superb experience at Bavette! The menu was even more amazing than usual with our choices mackerel and crab tartlet for starters and divine turbot for our mains. Somehow we squeezed in a cheese board and frangipani tart! I love that these guys are absolutely not resting on their laurels and the tide of incredible reviews they have received, Clement and team are just as focused on providing a wonderful experience as they were during our first visit a year ago. Already looking forward to next visit and would encourage any lovers of fabulous food served in a friendly atmosphere to visit!

We really enjoyed our meal at Emba. The food was varied, interesting, beautifully cooked and presented. The staff were friendly and professional, and the atmosphere was relaxed. It was very good value and we would have no hesitation in recommending Emba highly.
