We arrived in Houston late in the afternoon with no plans, had enjoyed a late lunch with a friend on the way. We wanted a good cocktail and simple dinner, but it was Saturday night. We found Rio Ranch and thought it might work, but were nervous about crowds when we saw how full the parking lot was. It’s attached to a hotel, so I guess there was an event there as the restaurant was empty when we arrived. We did enjoy a delicious cocktail in the bar, with efficient and friendly service. We shared a dinner. The mashed potatoes, asparagus and gravy were very good, but the chicken-fried steak was so gristly we could barely easy 1/3 of it. What we could chew was tasty, but hardly worth the effort. The waiter apologized, but sometimes a cut of beef just hides its true nature.

Arif was absolutely amazing. He gave the best wine pairing options for our entrees and was super patient, attentive, and an expert at knowing the menu. Being from Atlanta, Rumis is a favorite! Thank you Arif for making tonight so special.

This was a special occasion, my boyfriend’s birthday. I requested the marquee to have a special message and was told it would be up all day. Well we arrived 10min earlier than our reservation and they were just putting it up. I was able to distract my boyfriend by hanging out in the car, so it worked out. But for $250 and a commitment from the manager, I expected what I paid for. The other not so cool thing was there is a dress code on the website and when I called in, I specifically asked for clarifications. Me and my boyfriend dressed pretty nice, but when we got there and saw people walking in with tees and jeans he decided to leave his sports coat in the car. By 7-7:30P the “club” crowd started entering the building. Everything from skimpy dresses to torn jeans and tennis from the men. We were leaving so I didn’t really care, but I would recommend if you’re looking for a more intimate, grown up evening, to go between 5:30-7P. Nonetheless, the rest of the evening was flawless, which is why I gave the overall experience 4 stars. Our server, D, was and is an amazing human being. He greeted my boyfriend by saying happy birthday, was attentive throughout the night, great personality, and always had a smile. He was so awesome, I will specifically ask to be seated at his table when we go the next time. Yes, there will be a next time. The food was great, the drinks were superb- the Godfather, and my mocktail that I can’t remember the name but D recommended. And most importantly, my boyfriend was surprised (the complimentary personal birthday menu was awesome) complementary birthday cake was tasty, although I was told my boyfriend could select his own. The German chocolate cake they brought out was better than the red velvet cheesecake we ordered, so we left satisfied. All in all it was a great birthday evening, my boyfriend was happy, and I’d return.

Great reservation system, staff was attentive, food was decent. My customer's had the porkchop and fish and chips and said they were fantastic. I ordered an All Kale the Caesar salad. The salad had a the driest, most overcooked piece of chicken I've had in a while. The lettuce was spring mix and not kale & gem lettuce, no parmesan crisps, and a tiny piece of garlic toast. Not a stellar lunch, but not worth making a big deal of with customers. Restaurant was clean and the staff was great.
