The Rabbits is a family friendly gastro pub & restaurant in the heart of the essex countryside. We pride ourselves on good friendly service and good quality homecooked food with our seasonal menus, we serve real ales, fine wines & premium spirits. We have a great beer garden where you can take in the picturesque views whilst not having to go too far to order any food or drink as this can all be done at our garden bar which is also playing background music around our garden, this is open Thurs-Sunday throughout the spring/summer weather permitting. There is a childrens play area and we also welcome dogs in our garden and inside the bar area. The Rabbits Team look forward to seeing you soon.

Priding ourselves on our motto ‘Famous for fish’ Smiths Restaurants is a name that has become synonymous with fine dining and quality, attentive service. Our restaurants are located in Ongar Essex (just off the A414) and Wapping in central London (near Tower Bridge). Both restaurants boast an extensive menu of fresh fish that we offer to cook in a variety of ways to suit every palette. We also offer locally sourced meat dishes to accommodate those who prefer their food terra firma. To compliment the quality of our food we have worked closely with well renowned independent wine merchants to ensure we have a selection of wines that are the perfect accompaniment to every meal.     We had the most amazing time, table of ten for our Greek wedding send off. Food fab, brilliant singer thanks Hannah. The staff are just incredible can’t thank them all enough, special memories and perfect venue.

    We had a fantastic experience. Staff were welcoming,friendly, attentive and serviceable. Food was delicious and adequate amount provided which we appreciated. That said we felt slightly hurried to place our food order. We arrived on time for our 2:30pm booking but no sooner had we settled in than we were informed the kitchen would close at 3:00pm therefore they required us to place our orders before then.They however reiterated the bar would remain open till late.

    I took my sister and my son for a Sunday roast dinner at The Rabbits. The food, service and value for money was very good. I could have done with the music from the garden bar being a little lower volume but that is just a minor criticism.

    Wonderful experience food had a great twist on the usual classics. Service very attentive and beautiful location. The black forest martinis were to die for. Will definitely return
