Fearrington House Restaurant
From partnerships with local farms, including Duckwood Farms and Heritage Farms, to vegetables and herbs harvested from gardens on property, to dishes that celebrate North Carolina’s four distinct seasons, The Fearrington House’s mission to provide Relais & Chateaux level cuisine and service to guests has remained constant since opening in 1980.
Our menu is complemented by a beverage program featuring an extensive wine list, a fully-equipped bar, cocktails with local ingredient and beers celebrating North Carolina breweries. The beverage program is overseen by Beverage Director Paula de Pano.
The Barn at Fearrington offers an exceptional venue for large gatherings including weddings, holiday parties, and company events such as barbeques and team building and celebrations. The climate controlled Barn's rustic appeal always greets guests as an unexpected pleasure. The cobblestone entrance way, expansive dining and dancing space, magical twig chandeliers make the Barn one of the most desirable locations in the Triangle. The Barn at Fearrington accommodates groups from 125 to 300.
The Fearrington House provides a fabulous dining experience. Every aspect of the menu, food preparation, food design and service is planned out to the finest detail. There are wonderful surprises throughout the meal. It is likely one of the most expensive meals that you will buy anywhere in the RDU area, but The Fearrington House does deliver an elite experience for any special occasion.
Food, wine and service expectations were all met! But there were additional gems, the ambiance was lovely, and the chef's amuse bouches were delightful. We also had the bonus of a seat at the window overlooking the garden! Highly recommend.
This restaurant is more than just having a meal, it was an experience! The food was as delicious as it was pretty. We really loved the ambiance and garden setting too, such a beautifully and tastefully decorated place.
This was truly a once in a lifetime experience for us. We were celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary and enjoyed a spectacular, intimate, gourmet experience. The food was simply amazing, service friendly and impeccable, truly one to remember.
We were thanking a dedicated colleague for her friendship and service. We enjoyed the exquisite food and warm service. Everything about the meal added to a memorable experience from the creative cocktails to the host’s invitation to take some of the gorgeous peonies home that our guest sniffed and appreciated as we were leaving. Thank you for helping to make a positive memory for our dear friend as we part ways to move on to a new job and geography.
Fearrington House is always a treat. Their exceptional and knowledgeable staff provides friendly, semi-formal service in a lovely dining room and on one of our favorite properties. I love their options of three or four courses with or without wine pairings, as well as a five-course chef's menu, also with or without pairings. We each enjoyed the three course menu with pairings and ended by sharing their beautiful Valrhona Cœur de Guanaja Soufflé paired perfectly with two ruby ports by Laura, our super-friendly and helpful sommelier. We started with Poached Chicken with Morels with Vegetable Ash, Asparagus, Basil, Lemon and the Hudson Valley Foie Gras with Strawberry, Black Truffle, Balsamic, Green Almond. Second courses were White Asparagus with Caviar, Fearrington Farm Egg, Brown Butter, Meyer Lemon and the Roasted Garlic Agnolotti with Kale, Ricotta, Fines Herbs, Parsley Root. Mains were Dry Aged Duck Breast with Cipollini, Green Onion, Green Peppercorn and the Diver Scallops with Curry Cream, Fava, Tapioca, Basil. Seriously, no favorites here. Every bite was amazing and beautifully presented and every sip perfectly paired. Be sure to stop at the bar for a cocktail first. Bartender Watson Fitts is knowledgeable and friendly as he mixes up beautiful cocktails from the freshest of ingredients.
Our anniversary dinner was a very special evening at Fearrington Village Restaurant. The service was exceptional and the setting was quiet and intimate. The food was delicious and fun to experience. The gardens around the restaurant were beautiful.
We had a wonderful dinner at Fearrington house celebrating our 37th Anniversary.
Elegant and well executed.
This is an amazing place. It preserves the principles of what good life is about. A place to spend an enjoyable evening for these who know how to enjoy it.
Food and service we're great. Small room with loud party of 3 in corner that echoed. No fault to restaurant.
One of the best meals I’ve ever had. Plenty of delicious vegetarian options, wonderful wine, excellent (and not at all stuffy!) service. Loved our experience!
I was disappointed in the appetizer: poached chicken with morels. It was served cold and we really couldn't taste the flavor of the morels
Superb in every way.
one of the best fine dining experiences in north carolina ... the only two short comings were the carrot soup was not piping hot and the prosciutto wrapped pheasant as too smoky and salty otherwise world class food and service
Took my wife here to celebrate her promotion. Fearrington Village is a really cute place. We got there a little early so we had time to check out the village before dinner. The Fearrington House was more than happy to check us in and let us explore a bit before we came back for dinner. When we got back from exploring we were still early so they accommodated us with a table at the bar with snacks while we waited. Overall the service was exceptional from top to bottom.
We chose the four-course tasting menu with wine pairing for dinner. It wasn't cheap, but with all the extras they give you it really ended up being closer to seven courses. The food was fresh and every bite was excellent. They were extremely accommodating with gluten-free options for my celiac wife. This is probably the best meal I've had in the Triangle since moving here about two years ago. I highly recommend making the trip to Pittsboro to try Fearrington house, but due to the cost, it's probably best left for a special occasion.
This was a dinner celebrating the birthday of an out-of-town friend and a general thank you to the couple for their friendship. The dinner was perfect and the staff service was of the highest level.
They exceeded my expectations and the attention to detail was amazing!
The food was very pleasant, about equivalent to a Michelin one star. Food was nicely presented though portions were on the small side, especially considring the cost. Still, I was sated after I was finished. I especially liked the blue cheese panna cotta appetizer and the white asparagus dish was also very nice, less impressed with the duck breast main course. Overall a very pleasant experience but, given the cost ( well over $300 for two with one of their cheaper wines), this is more a special occasions place.
The food was beautifully presented with small portions and elegant design. There were several treats and an amuse bouche in addition to our four courses. The service was fantastic and the atmosphere was elegant and quiet. We chose not to have wine or beer. The non-alcoholic drinks were quite expensive.
It was very good, but not the best restaurant in RTP area. I would have liked more vegetable servings mixed in with the meat courses. They had just a minimal ornament of veges on each course. I was craving more veges when I left. I also would like to know where the food was sourced, and if it was local, which I prefer.
Our favorites were the lamb and the halibut courses.
Menu choices are interesting, seasonal, local, and tasty. Service is outstanding.
Excellent service. Great menu options, even within the tasting format. Knowledgeable wine service with great pairings. Neat small village and manicured gardens setting. While the high price tag will limit frequency of visits, the food and overall experience is well worth it for special occasions.
My birthday dinner at the Fearrington was beyond perfection. It is no wonder why they have attained the exceptional ratings and designations that they have been honored with.
Everyone who attended to us that evening made us feel as if we were the only guests they were charged with caring for. We thoroughly enjoyed the four-course dinner with a sublime wine pairing - the entire experience was elegant and sophisticated, and the food was incredibly flavorful...perfectly prepared was every bite.
Of the many special touches we experienced that evening, some of the most notable were:
---they moved a chair aside in the lounge area so that we could have full enjoyment of the lively fire in the fireplace as we enjoyed a snack and cocktails before dinner (it was a cold, rainy evening);
---the menu was printed with a happy birthday sentiment with my name;
---we talked of wines with the staff and were presented with a wine pairing which understood our flavor preferences - this increased our enjoyment of the meal;
---my dessert was the artisanal cheese plate and they must have read my mind - there was a fine bleu cheese with honeycomb presented - a favored combination of mine (along with other delights);
---the finest, most respectable, and highly appropriate friendly service;
---they had warmed the ---inside--- of our coats by the fireplace before we donned them to leave.
This is what fine dining was meant to be; the Fearrington, and the staff there, know how to surprise and delight their guests at every turn. Thank you, Fearrington, you have my deepest regards.
My wife and I had a wonderful dinner. Jesse was very accommodating with my preferences for wine pairings and did a fantastic job as did the rest of the service staff to create a memorable experience.
Very luxurious, exquisite service, excellent presentation.
however, this was the most expensive meal I have ever had for 2 people in North Carolina
and the portion size was tiny
Always fantastic service and food in a quiet relaxed environment.
Courses took along time they appeased to be pretty confused as if this was their first time.
Splendid in all respects!
Fabulous tasting menu! We savored every morsel. We didn't need the
wine paring, chose our own wine and it worked beautifully too.
The meal started with an amuse buche of crab on a whipped edamame cake. There was an incredible bread course with salted butter from the Vermont Creamery. To die for. We chose four-course meals each but with all of the mini-courses they bring out, it’s simply amazing. They even send you home with truffles and jam. The service was excellent without being stuffy. The chocolate soufflé was like taking a bite of air if air tasted like chocolate - it was so light and fluffy. Just an incredible experience from start to finish.
We have eaten here several times and always have given 5 stars but had to stretch for 4 stars this time. To start, a straight up Manhattan cocktail which should be elegant was served in an Old Fashioned glass that greatly diminishes its appeal. Appetizers were good. My wife had foie gras and mentioned that the very buttery toasts served with it were much too rich an accompaniment. Her entree was a "slow cooked" short rib that was more like a filet mignon. I had the venison, which was excellent, but the advertised sides were very disappointing, they were one piece of broccoli, cut in half and hard as a rock and spaetzle that looked like dark worms and were tasteless. The desserts were excellent. Service was also a bit off. This is an expensive, special occasion place and the plates are always gorgeous, sometimes at the expense of the food.
We had an absolutely wonderful time, as always. The food, the service and the ambience were perfect. We are looking forward to our next quarter visit.
Our first dining experience at Fearrington House Restaurant was excellent. We chose the chef's tasting menu and most of the dishes were superb. The only misses in our opinion were the cheese course (the cheese was too bland) and the dessert course (way too sweet for one of us). Aside from that, it was a very enjoyable meal. The service was great and we liked the ambiance of the restaurant. We also liked that the tables were nicely spaced from each other, offering a great sense of privacy. We would definitely consider going back.
Top notch food and service!
We had a four course dinner with wine pairing. It was delicious and a wonderful experience. The service was outstanding. It was a great way to celebrate our anniversary!
Enjoyed every moment of our evening on Valentine's day. Great service and food with a good selection of wines. This place is costly but the service is impeccable. Excellent selection of wines. My wife and myself thoroughly enjoyed this evening.
Chef Colin Bedford has ruined us for all other restaurants in the Triangle. Truly a fantastic experience with amazing food every time we visit.
I've been to Fearrington many times before, so did not hesitate to make a reservation to celebrate my engagement. I requested a quiet table and was seated at just that. The service was friendly and the food fantastic. My only complaint is that I told my server at the beginning of the meal that I have a gluten allergy and was brought two items that were not gluten free. I had to keep asking and having things taken back to be adjusted. This won't keep me from returning.
