My birthday dinner at the Fearrington was beyond perfection. It is no wonder why they have attained the exceptional ratings and designations that they have been honored with.
Everyone who attended to us that evening made us feel as if we were the only guests they were charged with caring for. We thoroughly enjoyed the four-course dinner with a sublime wine pairing - the entire experience was elegant and sophisticated, and the food was incredibly flavorful...perfectly prepared was every bite.
Of the many special touches we experienced that evening, some of the most notable were:
---they moved a chair aside in the lounge area so that we could have full enjoyment of the lively fire in the fireplace as we enjoyed a snack and cocktails before dinner (it was a cold, rainy evening);
---the menu was printed with a happy birthday sentiment with my name;
---we talked of wines with the staff and were presented with a wine pairing which understood our flavor preferences - this increased our enjoyment of the meal;
---my dessert was the artisanal cheese plate and they must have read my mind - there was a fine bleu cheese with honeycomb presented - a favored combination of mine (along with other delights);
---the finest, most respectable, and highly appropriate friendly service;
---they had warmed the ---inside--- of our coats by the fireplace before we donned them to leave.
This is what fine dining was meant to be; the Fearrington, and the staff there, know how to surprise and delight their guests at every turn. Thank you, Fearrington, you have my deepest regards.
My wife and I had a wonderful dinner. Jesse was very accommodating with my preferences for wine pairings and did a fantastic job as did the rest of the service staff to create a memorable experience.
Very luxurious, exquisite service, excellent presentation.
however, this was the most expensive meal I have ever had for 2 people in North Carolina
and the portion size was tiny
Always fantastic service and food in a quiet relaxed environment.
Courses took along time they appeased to be pretty confused as if this was their first time.
Unforgettable
Splendid in all respects!
Fabulous tasting menu! We savored every morsel. We didn't need the
wine paring, chose our own wine and it worked beautifully too.
The meal started with an amuse buche of crab on a whipped edamame cake. There was an incredible bread course with salted butter from the Vermont Creamery. To die for. We chose four-course meals each but with all of the mini-courses they bring out, it’s simply amazing. They even send you home with truffles and jam. The service was excellent without being stuffy. The chocolate soufflé was like taking a bite of air if air tasted like chocolate - it was so light and fluffy. Just an incredible experience from start to finish.
We have eaten here several times and always have given 5 stars but had to stretch for 4 stars this time. To start, a straight up Manhattan cocktail which should be elegant was served in an Old Fashioned glass that greatly diminishes its appeal. Appetizers were good. My wife had foie gras and mentioned that the very buttery toasts served with it were much too rich an accompaniment. Her entree was a "slow cooked" short rib that was more like a filet mignon. I had the venison, which was excellent, but the advertised sides were very disappointing, they were one piece of broccoli, cut in half and hard as a rock and spaetzle that looked like dark worms and were tasteless. The desserts were excellent. Service was also a bit off. This is an expensive, special occasion place and the plates are always gorgeous, sometimes at the expense of the food.
We had an absolutely wonderful time, as always. The food, the service and the ambience were perfect. We are looking forward to our next quarter visit.
Our first dining experience at Fearrington House Restaurant was excellent. We chose the chef's tasting menu and most of the dishes were superb. The only misses in our opinion were the cheese course (the cheese was too bland) and the dessert course (way too sweet for one of us). Aside from that, it was a very enjoyable meal. The service was great and we liked the ambiance of the restaurant. We also liked that the tables were nicely spaced from each other, offering a great sense of privacy. We would definitely consider going back.
Top notch food and service!
We had a four course dinner with wine pairing. It was delicious and a wonderful experience. The service was outstanding. It was a great way to celebrate our anniversary!
Enjoyed every moment of our evening on Valentine's day. Great service and food with a good selection of wines. This place is costly but the service is impeccable. Excellent selection of wines. My wife and myself thoroughly enjoyed this evening.
Chef Colin Bedford has ruined us for all other restaurants in the Triangle. Truly a fantastic experience with amazing food every time we visit.
I've been to Fearrington many times before, so did not hesitate to make a reservation to celebrate my engagement. I requested a quiet table and was seated at just that. The service was friendly and the food fantastic. My only complaint is that I told my server at the beginning of the meal that I have a gluten allergy and was brought two items that were not gluten free. I had to keep asking and having things taken back to be adjusted. This won't keep me from returning.
Just perfect
Great food, great service, a little too quiet. Also the crowd is pretty old, but that should be expected.
We were expecting a five star experience however the second course (acorn squash) was served with a consume which was not warm. When the server poured the consume over the food at the table it caused all of the food on the plate to be cooled causing the food to taste almost cold. We were very satisfied with the service provided by Jason. He said he would tell the chef about the problem with the acorn squash. Also we would have dinner at this restaurant more often if the chef would changed the vegetarian option more often.
Fantastic service. Loved the little seating area by the fireplace - terrific for cocktails and unwinding. Food was adventurous and very flavorful. Loved the black truffle beignets! And the hot winter cocktails were delicious. Will definitely be back.
Everything from food to service was exceptional and made for a great anniversary dinner.
For the sixth time our family gather at the Fearrington House for a truly memorable New Year's Eve dinner. In a system where everyday dining spots commonly get top ratings, five stars is not nearly enough to recognize the outstanding service and amazing food that we have consistently experienced at this world-class restaurant. Having had the good fortune to dine at dozens of Michelin starred restaurants in the US and Europe, the Fearrington house is every bit their rival. We thank the entire talented staff for sacrificing their personal New Year's Eve celebration to create a remarkable dining event for us.
Every dish was absolutely stunning in both presentation and flavor!
This was my second time at the Fearrington House Restaurant. I went once before probably 3+ years ago. This time, I enjoyed a lovely evening with a good friend for our respective birthdays. The food was delicious! I loved the foie gras, the atlantic char, duck breast, and chocolate souffle. My friend's food was equally as good especially the scallops! The sommelier selected a few pinot noirs that would complement both of our food selections. The one that stood out in description that we chose was perfect. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves creative and delicious food experiences. I will return with others; thank you!
My longstanding favorite restaurant in North Carolina... but, some real disappointment with our last dinner at Fearrington House Restaurant. Discrepancies in the menu — accompaniments that were not on the plate, that’s not the restaurant that has impressed us. Very attentive service, and a very enjoyable setting, still true. We’ll return, of course — hoping that this was just a blip.
The dining experience is wickedly good if you're into the white tablecloth 5-star dining experience. Wait staff is outstanding, ambiance great. Somewhat disappointed in menu selections and portion size, but fare was still tasty.
The atmosphere is elegant and quiet and great for a special occasion. The food was mostly excellent, though a little bit of a slip up on a friend's special dietary needs. Felt the service, while relaxed, was a little too slow -- took a long time to get our first course and then our main course. Overall really nice, but we felt a little too pricey for what you get.
It is rare for anything to live up to expectations nowadays. The Fearrington House has an impressive reputation, from Forbes, AAA, and La Liste, to name just a few. I am happy to say that they not only met my expectations, they exceeded them! Cody and his colleagues made our anniversary celebration unforgettable! I say without reservation that this was the best meal of our lives!
I took my wife for her birthday. She was treated with great care and made to feel special by the staff. Food was excellent. Bar tender was awesome too.
The Fearrington House is a very nice place to have dinner; most guests dress well and the servers are impeccably dressed. Reservations are probably a good idea.
You are taken care of by a staff consisting of one or more excellent waiters who will be able to recommend their favorite courses on the menu that evening or make suggestions depending upon what you feel like having; a knowledgeable sommelier who can recommend a wine that will match (or get close to) your dinner selections and who will decant your wine from sediments in the bottle after asking you; and several servers who take care of your water, dinner courses, pre-courses and post-courses. The food is delicious and, in many cases, will be new to your palate (keep in mind that sometimes the consistencies of new foods are not exactly what one expects; this might be a put-off to some while to others it might be fun). They usually have 3-5 selections to choose from for each course that you select. The portions are not as large as one usually would get at a more main-line or chain restaurant, but you do end up full at the end of the meal. That part is magic to me; although it might have something to do with my eating more slowly when each of the courses show up after a time instead of all appearing on the same plate at once. Dinner will take at least a couple hours; so I would recommend taking someone you know well so that you have a lot to talk about for the entire dinner, rather than taking someone who you feel less-inclined to share with; that might make for some uncomfortably long gaps in the dinner conversation.
As much as I enjoy the Fearrington House, it is not a place that I can afford to go for every-day occasions. I would save it for the very special occasions like a large-numbered anniversary, important decade birthdays, etc. I say this because ordering wine and two four-course meals will run you around $350.00 for the evening. On a Wall Street salary, that might be cheap, but not for me.
Excellent food. Excellent service. This is an expensive restaurant, but it is worth every penny!
Perhaps my expectations were too lofty, but my main course was bland and the duck quite chewy. Although the waiter followed up promptly after the food was delivered to enquire about our satisfaction level, it wasn't until I was several bites into the duck that my disappointment grew. I left 2/3 of the main course unfinished on my plate and there was never thereafter one query by either the capitain or the waiter as to why. That is not what I would expect from such a highly touted restaurant.
Fearrington House is always amazing. The food, atmosphere and staff are excellent. Definitely worth the price and the drive out to Pittsboro. A must for any local/seasonal/regional foodie in the Carolinas.
The location and surroundings alone make Fearrington house well worth the effort! Add to it the farm to table, seasonal menu and this is one of the best places for a special date or special occasion. We had the 7 course vegetarian option and were BLOWN away! We will definitely be back for our next special occasion.
Excellent food as always, good service.
Some “out of the box” creations need some refining.
We spent 4 hours on a 4 course meal, with the lag between courses exceedingly long. Unfortunately this sacrificed the great food and service as the meal flow was just off enough to ruin the experience.
My husband and I had the Chef's tasting menu that was truly outstanding. In addition, the service was exemplary as well. We loved the surroundings of the lovely countryside and the shops of Fearrington Village. We will certainly go to the Fearrington House more often.
The service is outstanding. I would recommend for 3 course in total. If you have 4 course and a drink, the price will be nearly $150 including tips.
Dinner was delightful for a very special occasion. Service was fantastic. The food was good; presentation superb. Wine pairings were interesting. This was definitely not a “value” experience; a three course dinner with wine pairings and tip was $480, but for a special occasion was worth it.
