Fearing's Ratings and Reviews
Great food! Chef Dean Fearing came by said hello and we chatted about the dishes we were eating. Service was very good and there was always someone ready to assist our needs. Plates looked beautiful and the buffalo carpaccio was the best thing we ate all night!
Had a beautiful evening for Valentine's Day!!! Every course of the special menu was the best of anything we have had! The quality of ingredients and combination of flavors/textures were outstanding! Now wherever we go we will have to compare them to Fearing's! Also the red rose and white chocolate truffles as a parting gift was a very nice touch. The service was impeccable as well. Fearing's is now one of our "must return" dining experiences!
Never disappoints! Beautiful presentation, amazing cuisine, impeccable service and a visit from the man himself, Chef Dean Fearing himself to ensure we were taken care of. He visits every table. Every time we visit we’ve talked to him. A Dallas gem, this is a fabulous place for a special occasion. We had the best Valentine’s Day dinner yet!
Where do I start? I made reservations with Fearings because I saw they had a great rating. I didn't know too much about it when we walked in....but WOW! First you walk in through the lovely Ritz-Carleton with a table of fresh flowers greeting you...who would not love that? Fearings is to the left of the lobby and as soon as you walk in you get hit by all kinds of imagery- Dark and warm- Trendy- Romantic-Homey... you feel like you were invited to the cool kids club.
We were seated at a table right by the open-kitchen which we loved. There is something about watching good food being created in front of you. We were immediately greeted and welcomed by a very attentive staff. Chef Dean came over to welcome us as well and truly seemed happy we had chosen his restaurant for our pre-valentine's day meal.
I just do not even know where to start. First we were served a goat cheese mouse - heaven melted in my mouth...no really! I love goat cheese- hubby not so much but even he loved this mousse.
The fresh warm bread was like my mama's with a kick- delicious! I ordered the petite filet with creamed spinach and hubby had the buffalo. Both of our entrees were cooked to perfection! You could have sliced my steak with a butter knife it was prepared and seasoned so well.
I did not have room for dessert but hubby had the banana pudding as suggested by our server. I do not even like bananas and I loved this dessert (ok i had room for a bite). Fresh bananas and the ice cream melded together to create magic!
I loved everything about Fearing's and will definitely be back. The entire experience made our date night very special. Even though it is a romantic place, it would also be great for business dinner's, friend get together's..they honestly have a good vibe for any occasion or no occasion at all. Loved it!
Had the duck dish. Meat was excellent with a nice wood smoked flavor. My wife had the ribeye, which was also very nicely done with a wood smoked flavor. The duck was on a bed of fried rice, which I thought was over seasoned and disappointing. I had the vodka based cocktail which was very good, slightly on the sweet side. Also had the $20 glass of chardonnay from Sonoma, which was very nice, but pricey. Service was excellent.
We’ve tried many top rated restaurants in Dallas including Fearing’s in the past. We were never impressed. But I read that Fearing’s had revamped the decor and menu so we thought we’d try it for our 30th anniversary. We were not disappointed!! It was wonderful from start to finish! My French 75 was fantastic. The bread they brought us was delicious. I have never had a more scrumptious salad. Ours had quail and pork belly on a small romaine with a mouthwatering dressing. I had the duck and my husband had the buffalo. We both loved our choices. The chef came out to each table. Wonderful to meet him and be able to tell him in person how great his food was!
I've enjoyed Dean Fearing's cuisine since his days at the Mansion. As one of the founding fathers of the 'Southwest Cuisine scene", he has a phenomenal depth of knowledge about fine dining, and it is clearly on display at his restaurant- Fearing's . My wife had the duck and I had elk - both of which were cooked perfectly. Every part of the service was executed with precision and unobtrusively, our waiter could not have been more attentive and helpful. It's always special when Chef Fearing steps into the dining room , and you could tell that both the patrons and Dean enjoyed the interaction. Its great to see a wonderful chef such as Dean Fearing , still "knocking it out of the park'. They make it seem effortless, but that's the sign of a well rehearsed and skilled team! Glad we made the choice to revisit !
My friend and I celebrated our birthdays with lunch here. We had the tortilla soup and street tacos. All were delicious. The breads are served with such pizazz-a smoke infused butter and the service was impeccable. We felt very special. The chocolate cake they provided for our birthday celebration was a bit of heaven in chocolate. We may make this an annual event.
My wife and I have been enjoying Dean Fearing fare since he was the up and comer Chef at The Mansion on Turtle Creek at least as far back as Feb, 1995, our first visit for our engagement dinner. He continues his fine tradition of greeting the patrons on most every night. Very personable!! His creativity under his own banner (Fearing’s) continues and is unmatched by all challengers! It is our special occasion place! We live in Austin, TX and visit Dallas solely for the purpose of goin to Fearing’s!! A must experience for a foodie!! Ambience is the best!
Outstanding in every way! It did not disappoint. From the moment we checked in at the hostess stand, they wished my husband a happy birthday. The waiter wished him a happy birthday. The food was amazing, but how could it not be with Foie Gras or shaved black truffles! Awesome evening all the way around.
We were celebrating my fiancee's 30th birthday. This was the perfect place. The service was on point. The food was delicious, especially the jalapeno cornbread. The staff was very helpful, Uri answered all our questions, and made excellent recommendations. They all went above and beyond to make her feel special on her birthday. We'll definitely be back.
It was my daughter’s 21st birthday. I wanted her to have one of Dean’s margaritas to celebrate. 😍. My daughter and I are gluten free and they were so accommodating and knowledgeable of what is gluten free on the menu or what we could easily substitute. Everything was delicious. :)
Took a close buddy of mine out for his birthday dinner. His first visit as well as mine. We both enjoyed every minute of Fearing’s atmosphere. We met the incredible and talented Chef Dean, shook hands and got a photo with him. Excellent staff and display. I’ll be back again.
