The food and service was great. It was 6 people in our party and we were all pleased beyond our expectations. I will definitely be returning in the near future.
Please get nonalcoholic beer for the menu!
We had a great family meal.
This is my second time and again I enjoyed my dinner there. Food is good, I love the yucca fries but one person got fresh hot fries and the other 3 got room temp fries that seemed to have been sitting in the kitchen for a while. Next time I remember to ask for freshly cooked hot Yucca Fries. I would still recommend and I will go back.
14 years of loyalty. Always a great experience.
I was so happy I chose this place for my large party! Everyone enjoyed their food and the drinks were über good. Really friendly staff, had to flag down the waitress to tell her we were ready to order, but other than that, very happy with the service.
Really cute spot, ambiance-wise.
It is always a delight to arrive at Favela Cubana and have the staff recognize and welcome you to the
restaurant. This is a wonderful neighborhood restaurant as well as a special Village eatery for out-of-towners. They have an outside terrace as well.
Good food. Service Ok. The noise was somehow disturbing!
I went for brunch. I got the ropa vieja and a friend got the breakfast wrap. But were quite good but overpriced for the smallish portions. The ropa vieja came with good rice but the most bizarrely flavorless beans I’ve ever had.
At 11 the restaurant was totally empty but had good decor and good service. I probably wouldn’t come back because for those prices I can get better food in the area.
They are always very welcoming at this neighborhood restsurant. We return often because the food is consistently good, the service excellent and good value. You often meet other people from the community there, too.
I had a big group and had to be in this neighborhood. The drinks weren’t great, the food was fine, and everybody had fun. The latter is probably most important, so 3 stars.
I had an intimate birthday dinner date at Favela Cubana. Flavorful food and delectable drinks! Favela Cubana has an intimacy that is ideal for date night and small meet-ups with friends.
The salmon was delicious, I just wish there was more of it. The acoustics in the restaurant aren’t great which means it can get loud inside.
This is a neighborhood gem, which welcomes young and old - students, tourists and locals - all
treated with a welcome smile and excellent service.
There were four of us and it was our first time to this restaurant. We loved this place! The food and service were excellent! We were there for dinner and sat for just over 3.5 hours and no one rushed us out. For once, no one kept coming over to see if we wanted anything else which is their way of hinting for you to leave.
The restaurant is nicely decorated as well with drums as stools at the bar. Quite charming!
We will definitely dine there again in the future!
Thank you for a wonderful evening!
Brunchy, Brunchy, brunch!! Today’s brunch spot is Favela Cubans...OMG! This place is awesome!! It is always a pleasure to dine at Favela Cuban. The staff are wonderful; very welcoming.
Great neighborhood spot- perfect for happy hour-
Get your oysters and mojitos there.
Just an overall amazing little restaurant, great vibes and the staff was friendly.
Went to celebrate a birthday and it was very good. The food was delicious and the service awesome! We went for Sunday brunch and the bottomless drinks are great specially as you can try different ones if you wish. It was delicious!!! Definitely be back!
Food not as tasty as expected for a cuban / brazilian place.
I like it but had to have my dinner outside and thank god it was not one of those too hot a night. When i booked it was to be inside and when i got there I was told they had a private party that I had to have dinner outside. By this time it was a planned dinner with a friend and we could not change, so we stood outside. Because of the party it was long wait time for everything. I did like the food and the waiters were terrific it's just they were overwhelmed. If having a private party they should have gotten in contact with everyone to tell of the problem. I would try again!
The food is consistently outstanding. I love the big and bold decor. Service is good. There are indoor and outdoor seating options. We ave been to this restaurant or lunch and dinner several times, and always had a very good experience.
Accidentally went to this restaurant thinking it was another Cuban place nearby my partner and I had been to and enjoyed previously. We decided to eat here and try something new regardless. Had a great experience in terms of the service- our waitress was very friendly and helpful, making sure to quickly replace our water carafe without us having to ask. Food arrived promptly. However, the food was just not good. We found the guacamole to be very bland, and also served with very stale chips (which were quickly replaced by our waitress when we brought it to her attention.) Ordering the shrimp ceviche, I was hoping for something light and fresh; rather, the shrimp and peppers and onions were drenched in what tasted like canned pineapple juice. It was unbearably sweet and sugary. The various flavors were completely masked by the sugar. It was barely edible. My partner ordered the cooked chicken and we also found the chicken skin to be weirdly sugary and sweet. The tostadas lacked substantial filling. Cocktails were fine. It was very disappointing- $10 guacamole, $14 ceviche, and $10 tostadas adds up to a total of $34 spent on my food alone that I could have made better at home, and I'm not even much of a cook.
Place was empty, but service still slow. Salad bland. Had to flag down wait staff for pepper. Other food mediocre at best. Only thing decent was cocktail.
We had a reservation for 6 people and it wasn’t ready. We waited 45 minutes to be seated. Then, it took another 20 to get water, and our drink order, an additional 15 to order food.
The food took 45 minutes. One of us ordered veggie Paella and it was risotto with Parmesan cheese. Another in our party ordered a steak salad, and it came when we were paying, she tried to get it to go but was told there was no to go containers.
Maybe it’s because it was a Saturday night, but a reservation for 8:15 and getting seated at 9 is unacceptable .
We had a large group and Th were very flexible and accommodating. Everyone enjoyed the experience.
They have an amazing Happy Hour with reduced drinks and small plates- also try the oysters- delicious
We sat in the patio because the inside was too loud. The bartender was very attentive as we waited for our table. Our waiter on the patio seemed a bit stressed and not very attentive. The food was bland but the cocktails were very good.
Sat outside because it was a gorgeous day. Celebrating my belated birthday with my uncle. We had guacamole and chips, to Mojito‘s, the bacalao, and the Gaucho steak. Service was very good for what it was worth because as we went through the courses, the outdoor patio area began to become crowded. Overall, I enjoyed my birthday dinner with my uncle and would return for a non occasion.
Nice, filling, flavorful brunch in a hip, modern setting for a very fair price point.
Sat outside on the patio - nice open space unlike many outdoor places in NY.
Great time for an impromptu birthday!!!
We visited the restaurant after an event at the AIA Center across the street so we could dine with a friend . Our table was waiting and we had an enjoyable evening. The food was good, nothing exciting, but good wine and a fun get-together.
Great happy hour drinks, very flavorable. Great latin flavors in the dishes...love the black beans and rice. Wait staff is very efficient and friendly.
Great atmosphere, very lively but not too loud. Got seated right away at 6:00 on a Friday night. Food was great (the chicken was the best)!
My wife and I had an awesome experience here. The food was great, service was great and it's around the corner from Terra Blues.
Not the server's fault. He was great. We had a good experience but in general, the restaurant seemed short-staffed.
This is my new favorite place in the West Village! Good food. Great prices. Awesome drinks. A perfect spot for sitting outside in the sunshine with a caipirinha! Thanks to everyone there for your attention and service!
We had an early reservation for brunch (11:30), so the restaurant was pretty empty the majority of meal. I’m guessing it was this and the fact that that opened at 11 that the staff was not very attentive but when they were waiting on us they were very polite and kind. I got the Ensalada De Palmita which was delicious and one of the few vegetarian/vegan options for brunch. They almost forgot my home fries but I am so glad I reminded them because they were DELICIOUS. I also had an insta-worthy Cortado and Cafe con leche and their coffee was excellent and so so strong. My friends loved their non-vegetarian/vegan meals and they looked great and arrived promptly. Will be back again to try their lunch or dinner menus!
Amazing food, drinks and service. Will definitely go back!
