Favaloro's Big Night Bistro Ratings and Reviews
Grabbed an 8:00 reservation at the last minute. Place was empty except for a party of 6-8. No sand dabs, so replaced with sole. Halibut that was clearly not halibut, and cognac cheesecake that was actually pumpkin spice. Two things became clear, we interrupted the staff having their dinner, but boy can they cook! Both main dishes melted in your mouth, the sole was nicely seasoned, the loin of halibut was quite large(reminded me of half of a ling cod). The cheesecake was light, tasty, yet overwhelmingly pumpkin. It was a pleasurable meal. Next time I'd go back not at staff's meal time!
Pretty sub par experience all around. I ordered the chicken parm, it came out raw (not undercooked, it was raw-pink-inedible). My sisters scallops were also raw/bitter to the taste she also sent the dish back. They wouldn’t omit the charge for the scallops but did omit for the chicken. We had a pretty large party so I get it if mistakes happen, but two dishes undercooked and one charge was kept, it’s a pretty basic move. Anyway, all around apps and other dishes weren’t anything special, would never go back.
Service was great!..Food was decent but maybe got a little carried with the fish preparation. Fish was good, but coated in bread crumbs, too much sweet sauce that masked fish flavor and made it soggy. Ravioli was good and had great flavor. Dessert..apple strudel with vanilla gelato...let’s just say that it looked nothing like the picture unfortunately. Overall, we would go back for some basic “safe” dishes like pasta, share a bottle of wine and enjoy the coziness of the restaurant.
Just a wonderful local restaurant! I ordered the porcini mushroom ravioli and it was, hands down, the best Italian meal I've ever eaten! I could have it every night!! The ambiance is appealing too. It wasn't extremely busy on a Thursday evening, so it was quiet, but its a lovely family-owned restaurant with exceptional food. Our service was great also! Can't wait to visit again!
Our reservation at 7pm on a Wed. night seemed unnecessary, as when we first arrived there was only two other tables taken. However, as the evening wore on it became very busy. The avocado/ crab appetizer was interesting, but not great...it needed something. The sand dabs and short rib ravioli entrees were great though, as was the Mascarpone Custard with Fruit dessert!
Our server was very busy handling a lot of customer's that evening. We had to wait a bit for our drinks to be refilled, but he was very friendly. I would recommend installing something on the front door to help close the door automatically when customers leave the restaurant and can't seem to close the door on their way out. We were seated next to the door and had to get up and close the door about eight times. Not handy when trying to enjoy a nice meal.
Could not have been better!! Really, really enjoyed it! The ambiance is lovely and the decor is so cute. Perfect place for a date or family dinner. The menu is great with lots of variety. We had the gnocchi for a starter and shared a bottle of Malbec over dinner. Make sure to order dessert!! We had the tiramisu and Creme brûlée cheesecake. It was phenomenal. Worth the drive and can't wait to go back.
We live about a mile away from this place. It's in downtown Pacific Grove, which is quite small. PG is far enough away from Monterey & Carmel that we don't have nearly the amount of tourists and it's quiet. This restaurant has maybe about 15 tables, so it's intimate. It's not a "red & white checkered tablecloth" trattoria. It's a restaurant that is cozy, but not formal. The food is Italian and it's excellent. The prosecco is good & I always order the Barolo wine, which one doesn't see on wine lists very often. The service has always been great. Several of the waiters have been there for many years, which is unusual.
Very enjoyable Italian. Great service. The restaurant is nicely decorated and comfortable to be in...good food, had the Calamari steak with lobster sauce. Spouse had Pollo Parmigiana, he mentioned the good sauce. Had a starter of crab and shrimp salad in a breaded and fried avocado, very good. We will be returning to this little Italian spot!
Our favorite restaurant in Pacific Grove. We've been going to Favaloro's since 1995 (when the restaurant was located in another part of town -- when we were "locals.") Whenever we return to Monterey/Pacific Grove, Favaloro's is a "must" for us. The food is absolutely wonderful as is the friendly, engaging wait staff. We'll be back!
Favaloro's was very noisy but the food was amazing - my calamari steak with lobster sauce was one of the best versions I've ever had and the pear and almond tart with icecream and strawberries was worth going off anybody's diet!! We were there during the lantern festival so that was probably the main reason for the noisy crowd.
It was our first, but definitely not our last, visit. The atmosphere was authentic Italian and the food was fantastic. Our server Nick was very friendly and helpful with suggestions on both the wine and the food. We will be back for more.
Our favorite restaurant when visiting Monterey Bay.
Memorable and authentic Italian food cooked perfectly,
along with outstanding dessert selections. A cozy and
friendly atmosphere, coupled with excellent service,
adds to an overall delightful dining experience.
Wonderful neighborhood restaurant. The food was well prepared and I especially noted the food was not over salty. Flavors were delightful.
Wonderful ambiance, small and exceptionally attentive staff.
We will return when we are in the area.
We were extremely pleased with the service and menu selections, presentations and preparation execution. We had oysters on the half shell, eggplant parmesan and the local organic kale salad with avocado as well as the local sea bass special and everything was outstanding, fresh and yummy. We are locals and this was our first time. We have definitely added this to our list of "go to" places...we will be returning often!!
There are a number of excellent restaurants in Pacific Grove. This was very authentic experience. The service was provided by adults with a professional touch of good humor and being attentive, without being intrusive. We each chose different special and were delighted with the presentation and the taste. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes Italian food. Good job!
the BEST carpacio I have ever had...and that is one of my favorites! Service was great. Very cozy and authentic. I took my husband there for his birthday. His favorite dish is Veal Picatta and even though it was not on the menu they made it for him. I was also in the mood for just a side of pasta and they custom made me a dish with the vodka cream sauce...delicious and just the right amount. Dessert was OK...wish we had ordered the lemon sorbet - I heard that is excellent - they had a good variety of desserts.
