Wonderful food! The menu is not extensive, which I prefer as it usually means that they take care preparing what they serve. However, it does cover a range of tastes and choices that I believe would please just about anyone. The by-the-glass wine list was exceptional. My server was attentive, but not a helicopter. He was very knowledgeable about the food that was offered, the wine list and preferences. When asked for recommendations, he gave several and ranked them by what he had enjoyed and the feedback of other guests. I'm always impressed when a server has actually tasted the fool that they are working with and can make reasonable recommendations. I would definitely go back and I would definitely ask for this server again.

We are stayjng at the Inn and decided to eat
out one nite so we chose Fat Canary. Tables kinda close together for our liking? Service very good. We had Rock fish special ! Ee both liked it very much! Lite broth with veggies ! Very flavorful! Old fashion well made! We would go back but not this trip.

Lovely quiet spot attached to the cheese shop in market square. Food was creative and quite tasty. Big city prices but worth the creativeness and expertise in the kitchen

From the super polite call we received to confirm our reservations all the way through our actual drinks, appetizers, dinners & desserts, our Anniversary Dinner at Fat Canary was superb! Everyone was friendly & helpful, especially our awesome server Chantal, and the food & cocktails were excellent! We can't wait to come back!

We had an excellent meal at Fat Canary this past weekend while we were visiting Williamsburg. I had a cold avocado soup that was "to die for" and beef tenderloin that was excellent as well. My husband and friends were all very happy with our experience there and we would happily go there again for dinner.

I don’t think I can adequately explain how great of an experience we had here. Our server Neil was amazing. He was informative and funny and friendly and made our dinner experience 10x better. The food was AMAZING. There was nothing I can say bad about this experience.

Whenever we make Fat Canary reservations they ask us is this a special occasion? I always say "Coming to the Fat Canary is always a special occasion!"

One of the best restaurants in the Richmond/Williamsburg area. Food is great. Service is friendly and quick. Somewhat difficult to have a quiet conversation due to the normal loud conversation as back ground noise. Have been there several times and will continue to enjoy it.

The Fat Canary is always the best place to dine in Williamsburg, VA. Other choices on the same road are just order takers , untrained staff lead my a below average Chef\owner. Chef Tommy focuses on getting all the small things right so the large things will take care of themselves. Thank you for an Amazing Anniversary dinner.

Fat Canary is by far the BEST restaurant in Williamsburg! My only complaint is that the restaurant area is too small so sometimes it's hard to book a table. There is a market store on the same level & a wine tasting & store downstairs that's huge. I live in DC where there are many fantastic restaurants to choose from & Fat Canary could easily be compared to any of the best here. We all thoroughly enjoyed tuna rolls, soup, salads, Salmon, Rock Fish & Short Ribs.
All of us were sharing our plates & everyone loved all of them. There desserts were also delicious & we really enjoyed celebrating my son's birthday there. Can't wait to go back again!

Wow! I have dined at many fine places over the years, and Fat Canary certainly earns a spot at the top of my favorites list! The food, service, ambiance were all spectacular. Local ingredients, a solid beer and wine list, and a fantastic chef and waitress. We enjoyed the Fricassee of Rabbit, Lobster Fettuccine appetizer, Scallops and Short Rib as entrees, and dark chocolate cak for dessert. Williamsburg is a place steeped in history, but it has clearly evolved to include a vibrant market square with new shops and eateries. Needless to say, Fat Canary will be added to restaurants list for every trip to Williamsburg in the future!

We made this reservation while visiting Williamsburg for my husband's belated birthday getaway. This meal was hands down the best meal I have ever had (and I've eaten at many fine places)! I enjoyed the King Salmon and my husband had the pork chop! The service was fantastic and everyone was so friendly and hospitable! We will be back for sure!

Amazing in every way. Varied and eclectic menu offerings, intriguing side dishes and off the charts delicious dessert! Macadamia nut pie! I recommend the hen with gnocchi. They were so kind to prepare a menu that the staff signed for us! Good food that exceeded our expectations.

The best restaurant in Williamsburg. Every year on our return trip from Florida we stop in the “Colonial Capital” and the Fat Canary is always on our itinerary. Truly a wonderful dining experience—definitely worth the price!

Everything was outstanding. No wait time to table, great cocktail.and wine list, wonderful seasonal food and attentive waitstaff.

I cannot recommend Fat Canary enough after the wonderful treatment that my fiance and I got during our reservation. The food was wonderful and quick, the staff was fast and friendly but also had a charm to them that you could see that they really care about the establishment. I've non-stop hyped up this place to my friends, colleagues and co-workers; the experience was that great.

To those that took care of us on 3/31, thank you SO MUCH. You helped make an already wonderful day perfect for the two of us and I can already see myself reserving here again for next year.

Great food and wonderful service. We enjoyed lobster, rabbit, duck and fish - in that order. After dinner, walk around The Cheese Shop, which they also operate. It has been relocated, but is still great. Perhaps the best restaurant in Merchants' Square.

We were on vacation & read about Fat Canary. We were lucky to get a reservation & were very happy we did. Service was impeccable. The food was delicious and the ambiance delightful. We will go to Fat Canary again when we are in the area.

The meals we have had there have always been outstanding. Food and presentation are amazing. Staff is very well trained and there without you even knowing they are. The salads are wonderful and you could make a meal out of that with one of their incredible soups! Does get a bit noisy at times, so a quiet table may be hard to come by. We are never disappointed when we dine there.

We LOVED our date night at Fat Canary. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. Our drinks, appetizer, entrees, and dessert were absolutely amazing. One person in our party was a vegetarian, and the chef created a delectable plate of meatless options, one more delicious than the next. We highly recommend this restaurant, and we would certainly return in the future.

Fat Canary was recommended to us by a business colleague. He said it was a "must" if we were going to Williamsburg. He could not have been more right. We loved this restaurant. The food was excellent and the service was outstanding. Our waiter helped point us in the right direction on wines and entree selections. I had fresh Rock Fish over a risotto with broccoli and my husband had the free-range guinea fowl with parmesan gnocchi. Both were tender and had great flavor. We shared the dark chocolate mousse triangle desert which, if you're a chocolate lover, you won't want to miss. If you're going to Williamsburg definitely try this restaurant, but call ahead for reservations to make sure you can get in, especially on the weekends.
