With 2 floors, offering seating inside and outside, Faros is a great venue for private and semi-private functions of all sizes. We look forward to serving the community of Brooklyn and the surrounding towns for many years to come.
Our family party of 5 has dined at Faros many times. The moussaka, pastitsio, and lamb with orzo was very good as always....The Avgolemono soup seemed thickened and not as enough chicken broth flavor as before. Spanakopita was a bit too salty for our likes. We prepare it at home & it is never so salty. The salmon wrapped in filo with spinach & feta was also too salty and had not very much salmon inside. We thought it was overpriced.
They were out of the greek white wine we ordered so we had an Italian Pinot. Only surprise was an 18% tip that was already added on to the bill when we received it...Surprising as we were 3 adults and 6 and 8 year old girls.
Great food and service!
1)The place was like an inferno. I had to tell the manager to please lower the heat . Literally we were going to pass out
2) Waited 25 minutes at our table before the waiter came
3) They have a bar, yet they didn't have most alcohol to make cocktails. Basically they only have beer and wine
4) The seats and tables are on top of one another. They squeeze as many tables and chairs as possible in this narrow restaurant.
The tables are approximately 8 in apart. No sense of privacy at all
5) After waiting 25 min for a waiter, it took another 40 min for our food to come
Pro: Only pro is that the food was pretty good
Consistently good, always satisfying
I took my friend here for his bachelor party dinner and it was amazing! He had said a while ago that he loved Greek food and had fond memories of sharing it with his father, and he lived in the Park Slope area so I just did a yelp search and Faros the first thing to come up. We couldn't believe how delicious the food was, and it was perfect for large groups. We ordered seconds of all the appetizers for the table. The saganaki was lit on fire right in front of us. Only thing was the balkava was a dry, flaky baklava as opposed to the wet honey-soaked baklava we were used to - maybe it's a different way of preparing, but it was still delicious. We had a great time!
Always treated well here. Would appreciate after-dinner drinks and more wines on the menu, but menu still good.
Never disappointing, always consistent, food is delicious
A must try
I had the bronzino and it was simple but very tasty. The veal special was also very good.
Fresh ingredients well prepared. Weak spirits selection
Very old stile food ok not to busy and restaurant is not beautiful
Quality and selection are very good.
Service was on point. Will return again
we had an early appointment at 6:30 pm before most came we ate outside that greatly influence the noise level and therefore the ambiance. wait staff terrific we sat, drank wine, enjoyed our meals and talked. it was almost 9 pm when we left. although the restaurant inside, when we left, was bustling, outside in the garden there were only 2 other couples. staff did not hover over us to rush us out. not overpriced given wine appetizers and main course. a great dining experience.
Great food, unintrusive service, well-priced. Could be a bit quieter.
Wonderful food and pleasant ambiance
Great food, slow service. Overall, a great place, where I always find new dishes I really enjoy.
I took my cousins who were in from Pennsylvania and we were all pleased. As a Greek food lover and a frequent traveller to Astoria, I would compare this restaurant very favorably to any of those others. I certainly would go back to Faros.
The wait time for food was way too long for a Wednesday evening. It took almost an hour for our entrees to arrive.
Good food in comfortable surroundings good place to catch up with friends
Great for a date, portions are big, service was good.
This restaurant could use a more prominent awning because Ive lives in park slope a long time and didn’t realize it was here! But the food is amazing, so so good, and the atmosphere is charming. We came for a birthday dinner with 8 people and everyone was delighted by this restaurant. Now I want to come here all the time!
The brunch food was not bad, but not the best. I feel like they probably excel more with dinner. Will definitely be back to try it.
Lovely space well situated on 7th Avenue, and they even have a little garden in the back. We were there on a rainy Sunday, and had a lovely brunch. I think at a different time of day the noise level would be livelier. Lovely staff and the food was very good, but I suspect that their skills at Greek cooking are likely to be better represented over lunch and dinner dishes. Nonetheless, we enjoyed and we will return.
Absolutely amazing experience. Went for brunch for a birthday. The food was perfection, great service, very friendly and accommodating.
Great service, beautiful room, nicely prepared classic Greek dishes — though not as exciting flavors as you’d find in Astoria with higher prices. Is a solid neighborhood spot for a date with my wife.
Great local gem. Best lamb chops I've had in a long time. Tender and delicious.
The service was unprofessional and inexperienced. The menu was explained terribly and we were served the prix fixe despite explicitly saying we did not want it. We waited for an hour and 15 minutes and the food still had not come so we left.
Food was good, value was fair. Service was non-existent. They need significantly more waitstaff during the dinner rush. Asks (even for more wine) were constantly forgotten and it took forever to get the waiter’s attention.
Been here many times one if my favorite go to spots. In fact thinking I'm going back again tonight for the avgolemono soup and the spanokopita. Just like mamma used to make.
Birthday celebration! Food was absolutely delicious and service was great !
Faros is our go to family occasion local restaurant, but this is the first time we went for brunch on Sunday.
The brunch specials are very nice, coming with mimosa or bloody mary, but we didnt have them as they were not Greek specialties. We had the delicious Avgolemono soup....just perfect amount of lemon in the chicken base. The other never to disappoint dish is the moussaka with meat and vegetables in its individual crock. Excellent. Wait staff very attentive and pleasant.
Service was very limited. They need at least one more waiter. We told them we were in a rush but it still took 45 minutes from the time we ordered to get our food. We had to ask for them to check on the food or it never would have come. Same with getting the check. Food was good but I will never go back. The owner was not remotely welcoming. Just asked if I had a reservation and then ignored me. The restaurant is a bizarre shape- long and narrow - do not sit near the entrance.
Really delicious food!
All desserts are $12, which is rather steep for a bowl of fresh fruit -- I took most of it home. Otherwise the food and service is good
Faros has been one of our favorite neighborhood restaurants since it opened. Nice space, a good selection of tasty Greek food, and friendly service. For Valentine's Day, the service was friendly as ever if a bit slower. As is the case at many restaurants on special occasion days, there was a more limited prix fixe menu at a total price higher than what we usually pay other times. Not a big deal, just a reminder that going to a restaurant on a special occasion day can often involve some tradeoffs.
Faros is my fave restaurant in Park Slope. It’s perfect. The food is amazing.
A lovely and delicious time served with old world timing and respect ... will return without question !
The food was fabulous and the service excellent. I highly recommend it. I love their meat moussaka.
