We enjoyed a lovely meal with friends. Menu is limited but all very delicious and the wine recommended by the waitress was just right.
A small quaint place with big a personality of food! Great waiter very friendly atmosphere!
excellent farm to table. tried many dishes, never disappointed. afraid to rave too much or it may become too crowded.
I got the burger and it was incredible! We shared popovers and they were awesome. Everyone enjoyed their meal, definitely will go back.
Very nice find in Newton Center. Fresh food with surprising preparations. Very good. Great service. Small place, so somewhat cozy and not noisy. We were there early - 5:30 on a Sat. - so it could get busier and noisier, but almost every table was full by the time we left and it was still what I would call quiet.
Order the popovers... you won't be disappointed. Fresh food. Vegan and Gluten Free options. Nice experience.
We’re mainly here for lunch or brunch, and every visit is great! Earlier in the week I had the soup, salad and popover, and the spicy tomato soup was great and paired nicely with the arugula, apple and blue cheese salad. The hot, fluffy popover pulled it all together! My wife’s cheeseburger and fries were perfectly cooked and flavorful. Yesterday I opted for the (new) sourdough pancakes, which were delicious, fluffy and filling. The chef’s experimentation worked!!! My wife had the blintzes, and the tart cherry accompaniment worked nicely with with them! She kept commenting on how good they tasted and how the cherries worked so well. I guess we’ll keep going back!!!! I only wish I could get a coffee refill....
As usual, we had good food, service, and friendly wait staff. It was somewhat noisy. The food is not inexpensive, but worth the price.
Farmstead table never disappoints. Always fresh ingredients and professional service.
A pleasure to go back to.
Great, delicious food. Will definitely go again. Next time I have to get the dessert, the list sounded amazing.
I keep wanting to like this place, but have never had a great meal. Went with another couple of a Saturday night and it was a terrible experience. The wife had black cod, full of bones and scales. I had the veal chop special and was charged $45 for it! Wish they would have disclosed the price when they recommended it
One of our local favorites! Delicious and dependable.
Excellent, well-prepared food - great flavors - delivered with exceptional service
Was in Boston for Easter Sunday visiting a Vegetarian friend. It had some thing for every one.
This is one of my wife's favorite restaurants. I respect her thoughts, but I don't understand. Lots of people offer farm fresh food. Maybe the hostess could smile and great people warmly, for starters? The food was good.
Always a great, fresh, delicious meal at Farmstead!!!
We went to Farmstead Table for brunch. The menu is not extensive but offered a good variety of options. My biggest suggestion would be to have more lunch-oriented fare that is a bit more special, especially for holidays. The portions were small but the food quality was very good. Our server was outstanding. Knowledgeable and friendly. Attentive but not intrusive. I would go again.
We had Easter brunch—5 adults, ages 38 to 75; three kids, ages 3,7, and 13. And everybody found a dish & drink they liked. The 2 starter basket of popovers disappeared even before the food arrived.
Delightful place & we plan to go back soon.
Once again another wonderful Dinner. We always have a relaxed evening & enjoy great food. Our waiter was fabulous again!
We were sad that the famous popovers were sold out and no more would be made. Next time we will go earlier in the day. We made up for them with the Hummingbird Cake which was delicious.
Farmstead Kitchen was disappointing for lunch. We had eaten there before for brunch and enjoyed the meal, but lunch was disappointing and overpriced. Service was slow. This place seems to me to need to be updated in decor and to re-think the lunch menu, which is quite limited.
I love going to Farmstead. It never disappoints. It's also a great place for lunch. It was packed. The options are creative and good.
Way too cold! We asked them if they could turn up the heat or at least turn off the fans on this cold evening. We were told that the heat had not kicked on yet ( it was 6:45 pm) . My dining companion said that when she had been there in the summer it had been very hot and they could not turn up the air-conditioning any more.
Seems like this is an ongoing problem… Although I absolutely love the popovers, the heating system is so bad I don’t think I would go back.
Came here for dinner with my husband on a Wednesday night. We arrived about 5:30pm and there was only one other table occupied. We thought it would pick up as the night went on, but it did not … one other couple arrived after us. We left at 7pm and the restaurant was empty.
Service was fine, attentive enough but not overbearing … but considering we were pretty much the only people in the place, we had their full attention.
The food – eh … I’ve had a lot better. We had a charcuterie board to start – taste was ok, but not what I would expect ordering a charcuterie board – it had just one type of cured/smoked meat, house made “pate” was just some ground up meat with grain and some pieces of duck in a very oily sauce. Did they run out of cured meats on a Wednesday? Felt like some left overs put together.
Hand-Rolled Pappardelle was good, the duck and mushrooms were tasty, pasta was just ok. Grilled venison was good, but the portion was so miniscule, it looked more like an appetizer. I don’t really understand how this can be enough food for a grown person, even with the appetizer.
Our favorite thing at the restaurant was the bottle of cabernet frac we ordered, took a picture of the bottle to buy it at the store as we do not intent to come back to this place for food.
Slow service for sure, but the food was amazing. Beautiful space.
Not worth the price. Food was fine, not great, service the same.
Very relaxing brunch! The popovers were amazing, as was the service!
This was our second time for brunch, and it was fantastic both times! The popovers are delicious, choice of food items varied and all good. Love the decor and atmosphere.
Fabulous experience in every respect. Server was friendly and very personable. On a very cold night the ambience was warm and welcoming. The food was delicious. Very well prepared entrees and appetizers that tasted great. I will be back many times I'm sure. Don't miss this winner!
We usually very much enjoy Farmstead table. This time the food was not up to its usual standards. Generally we love each of the veggie small plates and the fish is also very tasty and well prepared. This time the veggie small plates seemed pedestrian, except for the sweet potato croquettes and the cod entree was average. Also, the waiter (whom we had previously had and found likeable)seemed impatient, distracted and unhappy with us (even rolling his eyes). Perhaps just an off night compared the many delicious meals in a friendly ambience we have previously experienced.
I've eaten at Farmstead Table a number of times and have never been disappointed. Recently I ate there for lunch with friends. The selections were diverse, interesting, and delicious. The restaurant is quiet, friendly, and welcoming. I will choose it again and again for good food and good atmosphere.
I met a good friend for our Christmas gift exchange, as we do every year. We wanted to try a new place and I was very happy with what we experienced here. The ambiance was warm and slightly playful/ modern. The service was great. The food was the best thing of all- delicious app, entree and dessert. I had the beet salad for an app and really enjoyed the yogurt/ zataar sauce it came with. I loved my tagliatelle with duck- the pasta was obviously fresh and the seasonings delicious. My friend was dissapointed that there was no vegetarian entree but she enjoyed her fish dish. We had an apple concoction for dessert that was yummy! Prices were fair enough and menu was very interesting and creative.
Will definitely return here.
It was too hot in the restaurant but the food was great!
We had a very good meal and our waitress, Beth, was excellent. It was the perfect spot for catching up with friends and enjoying a winter meal in a cozy spot.
We had a little company party and it was I delightful place to enjoy a healthy meal and exchange gifts
Delicious!!! We enjoyed every part of our three-course meal. Appetizers were tasty, though delicate portions. Entrees were wonderful combinations of flavors and textures, and were good-sized portions. Desserts were also enjoyable. Service was pleasant and unobtrusive, and we got helpful answers to our questions. Altogether, a lovely place for a great meal, and quiet enough for good conversation even though the place was full.
Excellent meal! I definitely plan to return and bring others. The service and hospitality was was wonderful and the food delicious.
I like this place, but the food is spotty. Sometimes really excellent and sometimes just OK. The service and atmosphere are great.
The evening was perfect. Our server was extremely helpful and very pleasant. All in all a very nice experience for our first visit here.
This is a secret gem hidden in Newton Center, great for an intimate dinner, all fresh (farm to table). Do not miss the Tacos Brussel Sprouts
