Good simply delicious food, great cocktails
We had a very enjoyable dinner. My corn chowder with crab was delicious as was the berry cobbler. My husband and I shared the steak which was accompanied by very light potatoes nicely puréed and tender beans. The bar manager was very friendly.
This is a very comfortable farm to table restaurant in a friendly and not pretentious setting.
I often go there because the food is always interesting and delicious . The interior is nice and light, not too noisy, although the chairs are rather hard and the tables pretty close together. There is a good bar with a generous pour.
Every dish we ordered was excellent. My fish tacos were flavorful and tender; my beet salad was exquisite; the tortellini soup was perfect. We were there on a week night, so it was very quiet and made conversation easy. Highly recommend Farmstead Table!!!
Delicious corn soup and green salad with plums, perfect treat for an out of town guest, I am never disappointed at Farmstead Table.
My husband and I were staying in Newton on a trip to Boston, and were intrigued by reviews of this restaurant. We were thrilled with the food, and the whole experience was lovely. The duck was probably the best duck either of us had ever had, and duck is something my husband frequently orders in restaurants. I ordered tagliatelle with porcini mushrooms, and it was exquisite. Delicious peach salad and fruit tart for dessert. I recommend Farmstead Table to anyone looking for an intimate restaurant experience with food that is lovingly prepared with local and seasonal ingredients. It was a memorable meal.
One of my favorite upscale restaurants. Creative menu, local farm ingredients, Excellent service. No complaints.
In town for the weekend found this came highly recommended so we gave it a try. We really enjoyed the outdoor family style seating. Had a great time conversing with the others at the table. The waiter and waitress were spot on with meeting all our needs. Had our first popover thanks to a recommendation from a table mate and they were over the top.
Especially with the home made jam.
Hoping to return next time we are in the area.
I can always rely on Farmstand for delicious food served in a creative, comfortable
and warm setting.
Excellent food and service. They were very accommodating to allergies and took extra effort to ensure the food met the needs
As always, we had an amazing meal at Farmstead. Never disappoints!
Farmstead Table has been a favorite of mine for several years, and I was looking forward to a return visit after an absence of a couple of years. Everything was as I remembered; the friendly bartender (John, I think) was also our server as we were seated at a table for two at the window in front of the little bar. The popovers are amazingly good, served with nice soft butter and an excellent jam, and anyone who dines there should try to get the popovers (while they last). I also ordered the calamari, a new menu item, and while I have eaten calamari many times in many places I cannot remember a better preparation. Five stars! There were two slight bumps in the road -- my daughter Sara ordered the chicken and it arrived slightly undercooked. It was taken back to the kitchen for extra cooking, but by the time it returned to the table my entree had been sitting there for a while. I think they should have taken both entrees to the kitchen and returned them at the same time. That said, my haddock was cooked properly and was very tasty. The other slight bump was a specialty cocktail that was simply not very good; it was returned and taken off the bill. Otherwise, we had a very nice meal and I love the "farm-to-fork" aspect of the place, its coziness and warm ambience, and friendly service. I'll go back, for sure.
Great neighborhood spot, fresh , seasonal, farm to table . Service is always great.
Tacos appetizers are a must, always varies seasonally.
Fish special, scallops were cooked to perfection and served on top of beets purée. Very tasty.
Fruit crisp was delicious
I was quite impressed with my lunch at Farmstead Table. While it's a small menu it has interesting choices and the food was outstanding! I had a beet soup, a special salad, and a popover, and they were all delicious. Our waiter was outstanding too - a lovely young man who made sure we were well taken care of and that our special requests were granted. I would absolutely return. My only quibble was that the metal chair on which I was seated was tiny so not terribly comfortable. Parking in Newton Center is terrible but that's just part and parcel of dining anywhere around there. Definitely recommended.
Excellent fresh good. we got a server who was not very knowledgeable but was extremely polite and nice.
Great spot - food is beyond fresh and service was excellent. It's a bit small and can get noisy when it's a busy night. But it's worth it!
First, I must say that I usually really like Farmstead. I am hoping tonight was a fluke. The food was good. I had the beet salad and then the rainbow trout. A nice Italian Rose went fabulous with both.
The service was terrible, to say the least. Waters were not refilled until we asked. Our waiter hovered over us while waiting for us to decide what to order. I felt like he wanted us to move quickly and get going. We were three girlfriends trying to catch up and he made us feel rushed. At the end he said "do you want anything else?", without even giving us a dessert menu. Finally he stood around and hovered at our table until I said "do you want our credit card receipts?" He took them and walked away.
Hopefully next time the service will be better because tonight it was simply bad.
Tasty, fresh and original cuisine. Wonderful service and delicious surprises as we tried many of the menu items. Crab, avocado and olive tampanade on toast and the S'amores Tart were to die for. Can't wait to go back.
Fish, both trout and sea bass, were superb
Best meal we have had in a long time. Delicious and interesting flavors. Super fresh, local ingredients and perfectly cooked fish. One of our new favorite places.
Beth, our server, was amazing. We had the perfect table and every morsel was divine. I will be dreaming about the food we ate tonight. Can't wait to book another reservation!
Loved every meal. Service was great as well.
Our new favorite place.
This was our second visit and we were pleased to find this meal was every bit as good as the last one. Each dish was beautifully thought out. The combinations of textures and seasoning were perfect.
Excellent fresh and creative cuisine!
Excellent food and service - farm to table ...just get there early so they don't run out of the favorites or specials
Could also increase dessert wine selection
Thank you for having so many gluten-free options! At some restaurants being gluten-free feels like you're missing out but your menu is so allergy-friendly there is something for everyone. Thank you!
Well-established high quality local restaurant. Pretty constant level of dishes.
Asparagus tacos excellent for appetizer, crab mean on brioche not so successful.
Entrees of fish excellent.
Comfortable, low key ambiance.
Small pours on wine!
Good original cocktails.
A bit high end price-wise.
We hadn't been to Farmstead Table for a couple of years. Believe me, we are not going to wait anywhere near as long to go again! The food was a combination of creative (spicy snap peas) and comfort food (popovers). The menu offers about 8 entrees, but they are all interesting. My husband is a fish-eating vegetarian, and there were three items on the menu he could eat -- for a carefully crafted menu, this is extremely unusual. He had the mushroom tagliatelli, which he loved. I had a chicken which had a crispy skin flavored with a sweet/hoison-y glaze (I am not doing it justice) that was unusual and delicious. The rhubarb-strawberry cobbler dessert w/ lavendar ice cream was perfect. We went with good friends who also loved it (it was their first time there) and we were actually able to hear each other and talk with each other! These days that is unusual. After we had finished, my friend summed it up: "This is wonderful! We have found a great new place to go to dinner regularly!"
A little too loud for my taste but otherwise excellent
The halibut entree was outstanding. Always enjoy the innovative, fresh cuisine.
Delicious dinner. Wonderful restaurant. Enjoyed the atmosphere, nice but comfortable. Easy to hear conversation. Food was terrific - we had a variety of entrees and appetizers, and all were great.
We have never had a bad, or even mediocre, meal here. Everything is outstanding- including the service.
Went here for Fathers Day with my parents and sister. Great shareable appetizers and small plates. Cauliflowers small plate was delicious! My mother and I each got the tagliatelle with mushrooms... it was perfection. My father raved about his halibut (fish of the day option). We finished off the night with dessert----straw-rhubarb cobbler and s'mores tarte... both were good size and absolutely delicious. We will absolutely return here!
Delicious, fresh beautifully seasoned organic food. Presented artistically always great! I enjoy dining here.
Farmstead Table is an intimate and cozy atmosphere with only about 20 tables. The food is excellent and this last visit was no different. I had the roasted chicken and my friend the special of halibut-both were full of flavor and delicious. The chicken was moist and the zahaar seasoning added a nice twist. We also had the fish tacos as an appetizer (a special)--excellent except hard to eat--the mini tortillas were too small for the fish and tomatoes so had to use fork and knife. We had prosecco before dinner and the waiter recommended a wine for my colleague who ended up loving it.
The menu is creative and has just about the right number of options for me, a lite eater. Baked goods--blintz, tacos, and popovers--are light and to die for! I like the fact that seasonal options predominate the menu, too.
I have used Farmstead Table for birthday lunches and dinners this year as well as for a "goodbye" Saturday brunch for a friend. It is my favorite "go to" neighborhood restaurant.
I have never been there for brunch and because I don't eat meat or chicken, it's always more challenging. The menu was quite limited to begin with an then omitting the meat and chicken dishes, there was little choice for me. I probably wouldn't come here again for brunch, (there are too many other restaurants that do a great job), but would continue to come for lunch and dinner. The food is always fresh with good, local ingredients.
Thank you wonderful .. I'm coming back soon with another set of friends !
We had reservations for 7 people. Table was ready right away. Service was excellent, not rushed. Food was exceptional. Restaurant is small, tables can be a little close and can be loud, if people around you are talking.
