Neighborhood gem! One of our favorites: creative, good food; warm and helpful staff; we can hear each other talk.
A wonderful place with incredible food, good service and just a nice ambience.
Great food, excellent service and even better desserts!!
Farmstead is such a gem! Each meal carefully crafted to delight, friendly open atmosphere carefully tended by the host and waitstaff. The proteins are balanced between fish and meats- with plenty of delightful vegetarian options (some vegan options as well!). Everytime we go we see a mix of guests, college age dates and friends, and a mix of the age group that could be their parents. It’s always vibrant and kind, perfect spot to blend in, have a date or meet with friends.
I love this restaurant. They offer a basket of popovers on the menu is a wonderful addition to a meal. I was recently there and had the best lemonade I had ever drunk and this is something I order all the time. It was freshly made mint lemonade. The food is excellently prepared and our server was so pleased when I complimented on the offerings.
Hostess was rude and waiter had a real attitude. An unpleasant experience
Service is excellent and is is conducive to eating and conversing. Quality of the food is excellent. The popovers are so delicious. My only issue is that the menu is very limited with less than 10 entrees. Fortunately we were happy with the 2 fish choices. It is a great location in Newton Centre. No parking lot but easy to find spaces within a short walk.
Mostly good food except the steak wasn’t up to their usual standard.
I took my husband out to dinner at Farmstead Table for his birthday. We started our meal with the asparagus and baby watercress salad with peas, mint, toasted pistachios and a wonderful Cabernet shallot vinaigrette. We also ordered a basket of popovers, which were just as yummy as we remembered from a previous visit. My husband ordered the herb roasted chicken, which was moist with crisp, golden skin, served with a charred lemon half and thin, tender, grilled asparagus stalks atop a fresh carrot purée. I had the Delmonico steak, which was tender and flavorful, served with wonderful, crisp frites (French fries), lightly creamed spinach, truffle aioli (although I didn’t notice any truffle flavor) and a savory red wine jus. My husband and I shared a delectable apricot rhubarb tart, very French, with buttery pastry, a perfect balance of sweetness and tartness from the fruit, toasted almond clusters that provided a marvelous crunch, and a superb, creamy homemade apricot ice cream. I had told the restaurant in advance that it was my husband’s birthday and the dessert came festively embellished with a birthday candle. Our server was professional, friendly and efficient. All in all, we had a wonderful meal and look forward to returning soon.
We arrived for a late Saturday brunch so it was pretty quiet. We think the food is excellent and so beautifully presented, service is wonderful and the prices are moderate for such a lovely place in a fancy area of town. We can never understand why it’s not always packed. We’ve come for lite dinner of appetizers, full dinner and brunch and it’s always consistently so good. This is the only reason why I have not given this restaurant 5stars. Sometimes feels a little empty. Is it a well kept secret?
Of course I have to shout out to the popovers, a signature menu item which are to die for with butter and their homemade not too sweet raspberry jam. And the French press coffee is a wonderful touch too.
Small, farm to table style restaurant with delicious Food and great service!
Lovely food and great service.
Fresh, new, innovative! Went for lunch and it was tough to make a choice on the perfect menu. Tables are close to each other and service isn’t the best.but definitely worth going w a friend or family.
Great local restaurant. Food is excellent, fresh, prepared with care each day. Noise level is good, Ambiance is just ok - could be a little more creative with such a small space. Chairs are very uncomfortable but benches against the wall are comfortable. Overall a good local restaurant that we keep coming back to and introducing to new friends.
Overall a wonderful brunch. We arrived near the end of service, so the staff seemed unengaged. Food was fantastic!
Food was disappointing. I like the idea of farm to table, but the soup had way to much salt in it and I couldn't finish it, and the popover was burnt. It was also very noisy.
With tip over $100 for hamburger and vegan dish. Both were good, but not outstanding. I would recommend for lunch but not for dinner and the atmosphere is lacking. Staff was fantastic and very friendly.
Farmstead table always impresses with its quality of service, and excellent food. I recommend their homemade lemonade.
Warm service and excellent food. Mushroom tagliatelli robust and earthy, and dessert tart -- rubarb -- thin, flaky crust. So good.
I asked for a quiet table and was seated appropriately. Service was warm and enthusiastic. The food was outstanding: I got avocado and locks on toast -- suculent thick toast, the locs were unusually fine quality.
And the dessert tart was the best dessert I've had in a restaurant for a while. Thin flaky crust.
Ideal place for a special lunch.
Having tried Farmstead table now a couple times for dinner, I'll stick with brunch here, which is excellent. Dinner is overpriced, small portions...
Very good food, just right size of portions, excellent presentations
Easter brunch- delicious!
Wish we had a table by the window.
Food was delicious - healthy options!
Great food and service
Love this place. My husband and I are never disappointed when we eat here. The appetizers and entrées are always delicious and layered with flavors that one might not think go together but are amazing on the palate.
John our server was wonderful and so hospitable - he made our night!
Food was excellent. We had the fish special (fat piece of swordfish on a bed of yummy veggies and a cople of squashed little potatoes) and the arctic char and shared. My sister got the special, brother-in-law the steak and fries. Got the charred snow peas as an appetizer. Yummy. The dessert we split was just OK - apricot tart with apricot ice cream but not much apricot taste on some puff pastry. Not worth the calories. My drink I had to send back. A vodka martini with St. Germain. They had an elder flower stand in which was horrible. So I had wine. A nice little spot, not too loud. I would definitely recommend but they need St Germain at the bar!
Had a lovely experience - thank you!
We eat here frequently, and the food is always good, the service very friendly and attentive. Tonight's meal was particularly excellent, both the cod and the chicken perfectly prepared. Rhubarb and apricot tart for dessert also very good.
We wee extremely impressed. The food was not just delicious, it was exceptionally innovative, with a beautiful culinary sense of what goes together. John was an efficient and amusing waiter.
Fantastic! First time but not the last!
We had a very disappointing visit to Farmstead Table. The tables are close together which usually is fine. During our meal the hostess stood for at least 20 minutes between our table and another table talking to the patrons at the other table. Her back was to us and her back side was nearly touching our table. This was very uncomfortable and ruined our experience.
Both the food and service were first rate. Enjoyed our dinner very much.
This was a wonderful find on a Friday night with only a few hours notice. We had to settle for a 5:30 reservation but we were happy to get in based on how good other reviews were. We love farm to table restaurants and we will definitely return here. The food was EXCELLENT. We will have to give ourselves more time to find parking.
Our food was fine but pretty boring. I got the Farmstead Plate which sounds good - eggs with chives and potatoes. It was just eggs with hash browns on the side and bacon. It was $15 which was overpriced in my opinion. We also didn’t get the popovers or coffee we ordered until after our meals came and we had to ask again. The waiter seemed overwhelmed.
I wanted to like it better but I don’t think we’ll be back.
This was our second time going to eat here. First time was very good with no issues! Second time, my chicken came out not cooked and basically ruined my appetite. The staff was quick to try and fix the issue and offered dessert to go as we didn’t have time to wait. Not sure if we will be returning again.
Ok, just have to say the owners and staff went above and beyond in a very unusual way. Upon arriving I realized that I had forgotten my wallet for this client dinner. They graciously allowed us to dine and I called in my card into after returning from dinner. My guest never knew something was unusual with the situation. I was more than appreciative, to say the least. Extending my thanks with this comment and will be dining with them again soon:)
Everyone enjoyed their food, and the red wine selection was very good. The desert selected -- "Somemore" had a stiff top and the inside was cold. Didn't quite work. And we will definitely come again.
Lovely meal! Best salmon burger I've ever had. Service was attentive and pleasant. A very pleasant experience.
