FARMiCiA Ratings and Reviews
We went to Farmacia for the first time for dinner as we usually do Sunday brunch. The service was great and I love the ambiance with the twinkle lights. My girlfriend and I both had the Tuna which was prepared amazingly over chickpea puree. We also had a great olive sampler for an appetizer. Can't wait to go again.
It was fairly busy when we went around 2pm. We had brunch there. EVERYTHING was amazing. I had the banana French toast and shrimp and grits. My boyfriend had the lump crab omelette and we shared the nova salmon. I don’t even write reviews but this place was delicious. We were able to get a round of half off drinks in before 2, so that was awesome. Service was good, I’ll be returning soon.
I've been here twice.. once for Sunday brunch.. and once for a business lunch. Both times I was going to be in the area so it was a convenient choice. I appreciate the healthy quality of the food and the attentive service. Overall, Farmicia a "good" restaurant, but I don't find it to be "great" like many other people do. I would go again if I was in Old City, but wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to go there.
This is a great spot for a special occasion. The food is sourced locally and prepared fresh. You can taste the quality in the ingredients. The mixed drinks are creative and the wine list is pretty good. I’ll be coming back to try their brunch sometime soon!
In town for work... They sat us at the quietest table in the restaurant upon request. Food was fantastic. I had the soup of day, apple carrot, I think. It was delicious and dairy free. I also had the squash risotto croquettes which were amazing. If I lived here I would definitely go back.
We went for a Sunday Brunch. It was a rainy Sunday so folks were lingering longer. We needed to wait for our table. the area at the front to wait is very small. Wait staff had to be careful in getting around. When we were seated our waiter was very friendly. Let us order drinks quickly to get the Sunday Brunch Happy Hour Price ( very nice ). He answered all of our questions about the menu. We ordered the Cheese Plate and the Lox plate for apps. They were both large enough for the party of 4 that we were. The main courses ( Crab Omelette, Tuna Salad, Chicken and waffles, quesadilla all were prepared to order and very tasty. The only down side I would comment on we made our reservations via Open Table I made mention of what the celebration was for. At no time did anyone from hostess to waiter make mention of it. The staff needs to pay closer attention to what folks write into their Open Table reservation forms.
Pleasantly surprised! We were sat earlier than our reservation time, which we appreciated. Megan was our waitress who was friendly and attentive. We enjoyed everything from our cocktail choices, The Chamberlain and Turn the Beet Around, to the 4 different plates we shared including Meatballs, Crab Salad, The Duck and Coffee Cheesecake. We particularly love that they have a "bread man". A server dedicated to bringing fresh warm bread to your table with 4 options to choose from. We miss you bread man.
My mother, mother-in-law and I chose Farmacia for lunch this past Saturday. We were glad we made a reservation -- at 1:30pm, the place was hopping! Decor was cute and the staff was warm and friendly. We ordered two omelets and a salad, and all three meals were very good. Their mimosas (made with freshly-squeezed orange juice) were delicious! I would love to come back for dinner and try more of their cocktails.
Went here for restaurant week lunch with a friend. The bread, from the Metropolitan bakery, was really nice, complementary and you can ask for extra. The Farmicia Salad was nothing special, but the Beets and Fennel salad with blue cheese was great. The pan fried fish was delicious and tender. The Hummus Avocado grilled pita was simple but delicious. The chocolate torte is very dense and rich. The vegan lemon ginger cake with avocado coconut ice-cream is something to try!
I have had good meals at Farmacia before, but this meal was very disappointing. Makes me hesitant to go back. The soup was ice cold and mediocre at best. The grilled cheese was so burned on one side that the taste was ruined and the cake was dry. Waitress was slow to check in and food took forever to come out. Ended up eating the burned sandwich because I didn’t have time to wait for another.
Met a friend and daughter there for lunch. It was during restaurant week and my friend and I ordered from the restaurant week menu. Unlike some places there was a great variety, especially for the entree. The salmon and egg salad was delicious, as was the beet and fennel appetizer. Dessert creme brulee and flourless chocolate torte were also very good. Portion sizes were fine and the service was great - we ordered cocktails with lots of customization and they were very accommodating. After we walked the short blocks to the Museum of the American Revolution so the location is great - near transportation and places of interest. Nice atmosphere, attractive and not overly fussy decor.
We booked Farmicia through OpenTable because it was resturant week. I know that many restaurants do not participate on Saturday night, but Farmicia did not state this like all of the other restaurants did on OT. When we arrived there was a sign at the front desk that stated their lack of participation. When I questioned the not so nice hostess, she said that her manager was aware of the mistake, and that was that. We sat down to eat and a very friendly server delivered our menus and answered our questions. In a few minutes he was back to take our order. We had just taken our second sip of wine and our food arrived! We have never had food come out so quickly! My daughter's meatballs were cold, but when we looked for our waiter he couldn't be found. We asked the hostess to help us, but she made no attempt. Finally, a different server came over to help us and 10 minutes later, when we were all finished our meals my daughter's meatballs arrived. Just to give you an understanding of how we were rushed the rushes, we sat down at 8:15 and paid our bill by 9. Honestly, from start to finish the experience was terrible. There are so many great restaurants in the city that I would not waste my time, or money at this one.
Had a great experience. My roommate and I were taking a break from packing, and it was a delightful meal. Our server was fantastic...helpful, patient, and so pleasant. The food was amazing. Well prepared, and way more than we anticipated.
My only recommendation is to the hostess. The two of us were the only ones at the door, and she walked around the podium, and shouldered between us without an "excuse me". We noticed during the meal that she did it again to another party. Manners still matter, so please be aware and courteous when moving through a number of people.
This is not my first time at Farmicia, we come here all the time since it's close to work and the food is good. But this time, my friends and I were really disappointed. I too work in restaurant and hospitality industry and I understand how crazy restaurant week can be. But, our server (or lack there of) was just nowhere to be found. First, it took him awhile to come by after we were seated. He then asked us for drinks which took awhile then he disappeared. He came back to get our meal orders then he disappeared for a while then 15 minutes later, he came back asking us what we ordered again! Our dish came SO late the two tables that came after us got their dishes already and we're sitting there empty handed. We couldn't find our server again so we had to ask the hostess to look for him. Our food came right after and the server never came back.. as in never came back! We asked the hostess again to locate him and then he showed up and asked us if we want the bill. I let him know we still haven't gotten the dessert and he said he'll be back. We waited there for 15 minutes and then he came back so at that point we asked him to just pack the dessert. He told us that they are busy (?? umm, really? you think?). He disappeared once again (I swear this lunch was like "where's our server?" game) and came back with a check and no desserts. I asked him AGAIN and he replied with "oh you never had it?". What do you think, buddy? We couldn't wait to get out of there, this server totally ruined our fun lunch . I don't know if I would go back there for a while. This was a total MISS!
