Farmhouse Inn & Restaurant in Forestville, California is a boutique bed and breakfast resort that also offers luxurious fine dining to the public. The restaurant is staffed by a Michelin starred chef and fifth-generation Sonoma farmers who work together to create a truly gourmet seasonal menu at Farmhouse Inn & Restaurant.
While the menu is always new at Farmhouse Inn & Restaurant, guests can often enjoy Thai spiced gazpacho or peach salad with a marcona almond pesto for a first course. Second courses include octopus, chanterelle mushrooms and clam marrow bone, followed by a third course of halibut, lamb, rabbit or seasonal vegetables. Desserts and wines are included on the prix fixe menu at Farmhouse Inn & Restaurant.
We had an incredible experience at the Farmhouse Inn with both the food and the staff. So much effort was put in to making that night a unique and unforgettable experience. Thanks to all who served us!
Dining at the Farmhouse is always outstanding but chef Litke was at the top of his game last Thursday. All three of us felt it was one of the best meals we've had. The veal was lightly breaded on one side and then sauteed resulting in a very tender piece of veal with excellent flavor. The foie gras presentation was the best I've had. Adding to a delightful evening was Charles, the new maitre d. This is a position that has been lacking since Chris left but Charles seems to know how to make the customer feel special.
Pretty much a perfect dinner. Can't pick one entree or such, everything goes together well, including the wine pairing. The menu changes, but if you happen on the steak I'd recommend it.
The octopus was outstanding, not rubbery at all, the ahi tuna tasted like candy and the veal with crab was delightful
Overly trying too hard. The food was artistically arranged but lacked honesty and lack of flavor.
The Staff was exceptional. The food was executed precisely. The wine pairing was spot on. Couldn't recommend it more.
The service was seamless and knowledgeable. They were there when you wanted them and invisible when you didn't, perfect! Delta asparagus, Hog Island oysters, Gin cured Ahi, Foie Gras, Pacific Grouper, Rabbitx3, pork cheeks and not to mention the New York stip all done to perfection. Not a single complaint in our party. Well done Farmhouse!!!
Beautiful spot, great ambience. Service was excellent, and the food excellent.
The portions were small as one might expect therefore I would encourage the multiple course menu. We brought our own wine.
It was a lovely but expensive evening.
I ended my birthday with dinner at what will probably be on my list of top 20 restaurants experiences. I have eaten at some of the finest restaurants in the country, and our dinner at the Farmhouse Inn will be memorable. After seating, I was presented with a menu that had, “Happy Birthday Bill” printed on the top.
The Farmhouse Inn is a fine restaurant with exceptional service and food. I would highly suggest the wine paring, because I would have never have been able to marry the wine to the food in the way they did. Every dish was prepared and presented in a simple, yet sophisticated style. The decor is warm and inviting, every member of the staff was well groomed, attractive, and polite. The best Ahi Tuna I have ever had, along with the Pacific Pink Grouper. I am so happy to have found this place, and will be returning, because everything about the Farmhouse is well worth the reasonable price.
Great ambiance. Wonderful food. Definitely a go again restaurant.
Excellent experience! Great food and service.
Valentines Day Dinner....food was everything it should be (with the exception of the luke warm scallops). The wine pairings were exceptional and were well thought out and explained by the sommelier. The maitre'd was charming and seated us promptly.
Our server was everything the Farmhouse Inn should not be. Especially on Valentines Day when choices and selections are from a beautiful but narrow menu.
When you can hear other servers engaging with their diners and the best you can get is a curt, "it's your choice" does not make it a pleasant experience. Every course was served with as little interaction as she could possible make it. We didn't need or want special treatment, just some guidance on beautiful food.
The food was wonderful, which is what we went for. The service was unfortunate but at over $500 for a dinner for two, a little interest in your patrons questions would be nice.
Service started out slow but redeemed itself. Food was good, but only one dish I would call outstanding. The shellfish risotto with the grouper was excellent, but the grouper itself was mediocre.
The Foie Gras appetizer and the Rabbit entree are extraordinary. The service staff is professional and knowledgeable. The ambiance is beautiful.
I loved everything. Great place for a special occasion. Flavors where outstanding, each bite full of flavor. I will be back for another special occasion dinner.
Everything about The Farmhouse is phenomenal. First the building itself is beautiful and parking is easy. The host warmly greets you and seats you immediately. The staff is attentive but never bothersome and virtually anticipates your every need. Wait staff is spot-on and knows the details about every item on the menu. The sommelier was down-to-earth and knowledgeable and helped us select two perfect wines. To top it off, they had a special birthday menu made for me with my name on it! It has made a great souvenir. And let's not forget the food, every single item in each course was the perfect amount, creative, and tasted fantastic. I will never go to Guerneville again without visiting The Farmhouse!
The entire experience was culinary delight. Oxtail and Scallop appetizer was to die for. Duck Egg Fettuccine topped with Mushroom Bolognese was incredibly rich and could have fooled me into thinking there was meat in the sauce. By the time my entree arrived, I almost couldn't eat any more. That being said, after the first bite of my Poussin, I cleaned my plate.
I would go back every week if it was a bit less expensive... Love this place!
We have dined at the Farmhouse on numerous occasions, and the quality of the experience is always of the highest level. In fact, of all the restaurants we have frequented, this is one of the few that has never disappointed us.
The service and food were outstanding. The chef here knows how to combine flavors, textures and visual wonders to provide a dining experience extraordinary .
The cost was above average but well worth the price for what you receive.
All of the courses were delicious. All of us at the table felt the first course/appetizers were small for the cost. One scallop is a bit difficult to share as is 3 oysters. The main courses were much more appropriate for the price and were excellent. Service was very pleasant.
Excellent dining experience! Beyond expectations. We will look forward to dining here again.
Excellent food and service. The best. But the unexpected surcharge added to the tip was too much. Not recommended for holidays.
This year my daughter and II chose a restaurant close to home for Christmas Eve. It's just a 30 minute drive (at most) and we were well rewarded. The menu was a pairing with selected wines, or Nectary non-alcoholic beverages. In each case, the beverage was chosen to showcase the menu. And that it did! We were seated in the main dining room by the fireplace, which was lovely. This was a Christmas Eve we shall always remember fondly.
Classy restaurant. My husband and I had an amazing dinner and experience. Service was impeccable and the food was beautiful, as well as very tasty.
Farmhouse Inn's Restaurant is a gift to Sonoma County and anyone who visits the wine country. This is an especially beautiful setting with food and wine to match the bucolic scene of the Russian River Valley. All those noisy restaurants in the City (and a few here in wine country) should take a field trip and learn how a true fine dining experience is done.
Farmhouse was incredible from top to bottom, from start to finish. Incredible food, incredible interior and ambience, and incredible service. It's not cheap, but I would have paid double for that awesome experience. Highly recommend.
An exquisite dining experience!!!
Took my wife for a birthday dinner and she lovveed it. As someone that has eaten at restaurants in London, Germany, Italy, etc she stated it was the best meal she's eaten. The portions were the right size and the price was reasonable for the quality of the food and service. I can't wait to return.
The Farmhouse restaurant is truly incredible. The food was simply sublime. Seriously, everything we had was perfection. I had the tenderloin steak and it was without a doubt, the best meal I've ever had at a restaurant. This place is pricey, but you absolutely get what you pay for! Oh, and the desserts are out of this world!
One of the top meals in our entire life, and we've had the opportunity to eat in multiple Michelin 3-star restaurants in the US and Europe. The hotel rooms are equally outstanding with a combination of amenities and unique architectural features. Awesome experience for our group of four.
We found our experience at Farmhouse Inn just wonderful - we knew of its reputation beforehand and were not disappointed. The service was exceptional and we found the wine pairing option perfectly matched with the delicious food. This is a high-end experience not found at too many places in the area, so savor every moment.
This restaurant is such a wonderful gem. The food is fantastic and the service superb. It is a special occasion place for us since it it is pricey and we love having it nearby (we're locals) for just those dates!
I know this restaurant has some great reviews. The reason for going. But in my opinion, if I am going to pay a lot of money for dinner I want to come away with the feeling that it was worth it. The waiter was totally amazing- explaining so much about the menu - that I loved. The portions are small and the wait in-between courses was long. I really cannot say anything we had was outstanding. The house wines are mediocre. Such a shame because I feel like I missed out that evening on a really good restaurant that would have made me say WOW.!
Wonderful food great setting!
Went to the Farmhouse for our 40th anniversary. The food was all we had hoped for. I had the 4 course menu & my wife had the three course. My wife had the Squash Ginger Pear Soup, Beef Tenderloin & Souffle Rouge. All were wonderful. I had the Little Gem Salad, Pork Schnitzel, Rabbit-Rabbit-Rabbit & Chocolate No.5. Fabulous, both the presentation and the content. However, the wine pairing was less than stellar. It seemed like they were trying to find the best compliment they could find at a low price point. A minor point but it kept me from giving this wonderful restaurant top marks across the board.
One of the best meals we have ever had. We chose the four course tasting menu and they let us use the extra course to share an appetizer and cheese course. The offerings were unusual, like rabbit 3 ways, all perfectly prepared. Don't skip dessert-- the cranberry soufflé was out of this world.
Near perfect. Best to stay at the Inn, itself a great place. One of the few unspoiled areas of Sonoma and Napa, far from the glitz of Route 29. Go for the wine pairings (even though few are local).
The atmosphere was comfortable, relaxing, and serene. The food was stunning and delicious. Service was impeccable. And what a treat to dine in a quiet environment. Overall, this restaurant is a gem.
Over all food was very good although two of our firsts courses good but not outstanding. We had the Soup with rock shrimp. The broth was very good but the shrimp tasted old and a little fishy (it was a Sunday Night end of the week fish can be problematic). We also had the octopus. Thought that it was good but just a little bland and we expected more flavor. The buffalo carpaccio was delicious and prepared perfectly. We also had the rabbit and elk tenderloin and both were also very good. We finished with the cranberry soufflé and the fruit salad and both were very good.
We chose not to have the wine parings and they promoted them heavily. We do not like sweet wines and the featured two with our entrée choices. The sommelier suggested a pinot noir that was just ok. She was very knowledgeable but the wine did not wow us.
Over it was a very good dinner this is an excellent restaurant but we thought a couple of items could have been better. I guess with their reputation I expected everything to be perfect but that may have been possible. Again it was a very good dinner. I hope I am not being overly critical.
We had a wonderful dining experience at the Farmhouse, from the attentive, personable waitstaff to the most interesting wine pairings to --most importantly-- the fantastic food! The foie gras alone is worth going out of your way for: seared buttery outside, silken inside; in a word, perfect. The specialty of 3-way rabbit offers a diversity of delights on one plate. The elk tenderloin was also cooked to perfection, red without a hint of gaminess and unbelievably tender. The apricot souffle was a new one to this souffle afficionado; while light as a feather it packed a big fruit flavor. To finish, a cheese plate where the amazing quality of the Vermont cheeses was a pleasant surprise. We'll definitely go again, and the restaurant may be the entire reason for our trip.
