Amazing food! Quaint location!
The food was great, although service could
Of been better. Although dinner was great it was loud.
Good food. Nice experience.
Farm to table menu is creative without being too crazy, and everything on menu is thoughtful and well-executed, sometimes brilliantly so. This is our favorite restaurant in San Diego.
Sat outside and had our own private dining for awhile. Food and service great.
We went to Wednesday date night! Food was amazing as usual!
I loved everything about this restaurant. Both the food and the service were fabulous. I had the Oxtail Ravioli and my friend the Artichoke Ravioli. They were beautifully presented and incredibly delicious. I will be back soon!
OUr group comes here for breakfast every two months. They never disappoint. The service is excellent and the food is delicious. The coffee is always fresh and flavorful and cups are kept full.
My wife and I live near this restaurant and find the food and atmosphere to be great. But this review is not about the restaurant. OPEN TABLE GETS ZERO STARS!!!!!!! We had earned a 20$ open table credit due to using the app to book all our restaurants. The waiter was unable to apply the 20 credit to our check so we paid full fare. OK. Today I called Open Table and their customer service SUCKS. They said the coupon was good. When I asked what assurance that it would be honored next time, none was given. They also gave conflicting advice- that I could use the coupon anywhere but their website says it can only be used at the restaurant where the booking was made. BOYCOTT OPEN TABLE. BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE
Been to this restaurant several times, and have never been disappointed.
Great food, extra busy that night but still really good.
Our favorite restaurant in San Diego. Good variety on menu and everything tastes great.
We made this reservation for a birthday party for 8 ppl outside. They sat us inside and it was super loud/noisy and not what we wanted at all. Even though we made a reservation we still had to wait over 30 minutes. The host was rude and irritable, I deduced because they were busy but not our fault. The food was sub par, eggs benedict incredibly overcooked and had to be sent back. The drinks were no good which was surprising because it is on of our favorites. The waitress was fine, for once. We typically have pretty crappy service but typically we don't mind because we are sitting outside. I used to come here a couple times a month but will opt for somewhere else next time.
The one star rating comes from a combination of unbelievably poor service, bland tasting food and prices which don't match product.
Even though we made reservations in advance, we were seated at a table where I don't think a table really fits. I couldn't move without banging into the other customers seated around us. We had to remind the sever to bring out the drinks, our waters was never refilled. Food was just deposited onto the table without any care. It would have been nice to know what cheeses and meats were on the charcuterie board for example. The entrees themselves were just dumped onto the plates with no second though before leaving the kitchen for the table and not once were we checked in on. On top of that I felt myself that the food didn't have much going for it.
None of these in isolation would have been a disaster. However put together, and in combination with the fact that the places tries to position itself as a higher end eatery I think Farmer's Bottega has a lot to work on.
They seemed understaffed; service was very slow. The server was taking tables, making drinks behind the bar and running like crazy. Food was okay; octopus was rubbery, salad with goat cheese was very good, burn't carrots were nothing special, and the Stuffed Quail was okay. The stuffing seemed under-cooked. I won't be going back as there are so many other restaurants that do it much better.
Prices that were on the Open Table menu are not correct. Many things are much more expensive leaving this restaurant as a poor value, especially when considering the smaller portion sizes. The food was also average and lacking distinctive flavors in each dish.
Didn’t think it was worth the drive, friends hiped it up to be more than it was. Wasn’t a big fan had a gift card only reason we went, wouldn’t go again unless free again, hostess rude, waitress was nice, that’s about it. Good luck to you guys
Did the Valentine's menu here with my girlfriend, not a big fan of going out on Valentine's day but it was a great night out. Solid restaurant for couples looking for a quiet evening out with good food and excellent service.
Great good, great service, excellent ambiance.
My husband and I went for dinner on Valentines Day. Really enjoyed the atmosphere and the friendly staff. However, I ordered the chicken from the prix fixe menu. It was very rubbery and inedible. I alerted the waitress and let her know that maybe the chicken was undercooked, not sure, but that it was like rubber. She said she'd have the kitchen prepare a new plate for me. Thank goodness! A few minutes later she brought out my plate. But after inspection and another bite, it was clear that the kitchen merely cut my piece of chicken in half to make sure it was cooked and then sent it back out to me. The waitress never came back to check on me, so I ended up pushing the chicken off to the side and just ate the potatoes and veggies. They tasted great, but not worth the cost of the menu. Disappointed with the kitchen and the sever for not following up.
Wonderful neighborhood gem. Came for Valentines Day and had a wonderful time.
We loved this restaurant! We went on Valentine's so they had a special menu that was delicious! I had the carrot salad, chicken and the lemon cake (the absolute best dessert I have ever had!) My husband had the lentil soup (which he loved), the bison filet (which he enjoyed so much that he cleaned his plate) and the chocolate lava cake! Awesome food! Hats off to the chef!
Quick brunch experience for valentine's day before flying out of San Diego. Really near the San Diego Airport.
I had a great experience. The customer service was outstanding very polite with a touch of humor. The food was amazing, I had the short rib with a side of mashed potatoes, my lovely date had the pork chop, it was amazing. Great taste. Will definitely be coming back.
Food and our waitress were outstanding. Loved the polenta and quail. Waitress managed our orders and wine selections with skill and aplomb. Manager had to arrange a table for 5 of us even though we had a reservation. Also, there was barely room to get in my chair. I am 80 yrs old and not overweight, yet I could barely squeeze in. We repositioned the table and chairs to allow for more room.
Fabulous! Highly recommended!!
We went on a busy Friday night, had a reservation, and they were completely understaffed. It took our server over 15 minutes to come to our table to give us water. Even once he took our drink order, he only came back to the table to get our food order. There was zero service. The food was fresh and tasty, but nothing extraordinary for the price and the service did not make up for the difference. There are other great places in San Diego, I would not recommend this one.
Outside is very nice
Went for Restaurant Week, got the Pork Belly, Short Rib and the Creme Brulee. All the meat was so tender and yummy. The Pork Belly was my favorite, could’ve eaten it as an entree instead of a starter. They also have really good truffle fries. Service was great.
Overall good ambiance. Very cozy feel to it and good for friends get together, casual dates or brunch. Parking may be inconvenient on Friday nights or Saturday but I would recommend going on Sundays or brunch on weekdays. Staff our very friendly and very accommodating. One thing I would suggest is that when orders are taken, especially to for large group of people, make sure to write it down. ;) Because you will tend to forget little details that is requested by your customer. But overall it's good.
We had an outstanding meal last Saturday. If it hadn't been for Restaurant Week, I don't know we would have ever found this place! The decor is great and the menu was wonderful. Everything in season and fresh.
We had a great meal!
A bit noisy and very crowded. A young crowd having a good time.
We had a fantastic meal at Farmer's Bottega for Restaurant Week. THANK YOU for having multiple vegetarian choices to pick from. The grilled artichokes were so amazing... I hope they're on the regular menu. I'd go back, for sure.
We live in the neighborhood and decided to check out Farmer's Bottega for restaurant week on Friday night. The 3-course special with wine pairings was great for value. For the first course I ordered the Pork Belly with risotto and my partner ordered the Hearts of Artichoke; the pork belly was good but the artichoke blew it out of the water. For the second course I ordered the Short Rib and my partner ordered the Pasta of the Day (Shrimp Linguini). Both dishes tasted good but weren't that impressive. For dessert we ordered the Creme Brûlée and Molten Chocolate Cake. The dessert saved the day, both were amazing.
In terms of atmosphere, it had a very rustic and intimate feel. It was quite busy because it was Friday night of restaurant week but that's expected. The service staff was attentive and helpful. The portions were fairly large. I think this restaurant's forte is in grains and vegetables, hence the name. I would definitely dine here again but would only order vegetarian dishes.
Fantastic waiter that explained the menu like it was poetry. Great ambiance. Risotto was a little undercooked, otherwise the food was very good, especially the free range chicken and bread pudding.
We came here during restaurant week and we were not disappointied! The food was delicious and Tyler our waiter was a gem. We would come back again!
Great food but too noisy! Ridiculously loud music with base making noise level even worse. Food and service great.
Outdoor patio was cozy.
Great food and service. Parking is a little tricky.
