Farmer's Bottega Restaurant
A bit of a wait but the food made up for it!! Check it out if your around the area its worth the stop... each dish was great. Truffle fries, boar tartare, quail, pastas!
We sat on the beautiful outdoor patio with our little dog. The atmosphere was charming. The service was extremely slow (took one hour and 15 minutes to get our entrees and 45 minutes before we got our appetizers). The food was good but I was expecting it to be great after the reviews I had read. Part of my food was cold and I sent it back. The servers never asked us how our food was nor came back to check on us.
Food was just okay. It was really loud in the restaurant. My husband didn’t like his chicken. It was dry. He told the waiter but he didn’t really respond to it. I guess when he asked how everything was, he really didn’t care. The decor was cool and the menu selection was good.
Go hungry! The food here was excellent and plentiful. The two of use could have probably shared each course and been perfectly full by the end of the evening. The mushroom crostini and meatball starters were entirely different from each other and equally excellent. My duck gnocchi was rich and complex, and out of this world. They could probably increase their profit margin by trimming down the portions and nobody would complain. The craft cocktails to start were refreshing and the wine recommendations for dinner were perfect. It's a 15 minute car ride from the downtown area but well worth it! I wouldn't hesitate to return--and just order less! Four stars instead of five because the quantity of food took away from the class and caliber of the place.
Love this place ! Probably come once a month or more.
When I land in a city, I look for farm to table restaurants. I know I am eating healthy, organic food, and supporting local businesses. Every mouthful was delicious and the presentation beautiful.
A little noisy, but wonderful lively vibe, cool decor and great way to share and try many dishes.
Farmer’s Bodega is a wonderful addition to the Mission Hills neighborhood. You can sit inside or out back on the patio. The food is always top notch.
I wish the inside was a bit cooler during these very hot days.
Food and customer service were outstanding. I loved the restaurant decor as well. Well proportioned food.
Delicious food, great with kids, fast and efficient service without being overbearing. Well worth the visit
Jorge's service was excellent! We will be back for sure. Thanks!
This place never disappoints. The service is always great. The regular coffee is some of the best anywhere. I loved my New Orleans Benedict. It was spicy but not too. The poached eggs were perfect. The accompanying potatoes were crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside Yummmm!
I’m so glad we found this restaurant! It was a lovely experience from beginning to end. We received such a warm, genuine welcome when we walked in, were seated right away, and the patio was cozy and sweet. For being situated on a VERY busy street, the patio takes you away from that and makes you feel like you are eating at a family restaurant in a small village on vacation.
The wine was excellent, service team was very attentive, the restaurant itself was (noticeably) extremely clean, and the food was yummy. My husband cleared his plate (and mine) so that’s always a good sign.
I overheard another table talking about how good their brunch was, so I’m looking forward to another visit soon!
We really enjoyed our evening at Farmer's Bottega in Misson Hills. The outdoor seating area is one of the best in San Diego even though there isn't a water view! The backyard patio is cozy and inviting and the lights on the trees are beautiful! The food was very good - we had the bison tartare that was just delicious. Also shared the pork belly with potato risotto that melted in your mouth. Then moved on to sharing the oxtail ravioli - watch out - this dish is very large!!! It was very good but too much, even for two people! We ended our meal with a cheese plate that was excellant! We always take our own wine to restaurants and the corkage fee was reasonable - only $15. We will definitely return to this restaurant! Great neighborhood gem!
We had a good time dining at Farmer's Bottega.
I liked the ambiance of the restaurant (indoor). It's nice and cozy but not too crowded. It seemed good for both large and intimate group of diners. The service was good as well.
We tried the octopus as our appetizer, which we both really liked. The appetizers came out super quick! We tried the pork chop and the black&white pasta. The clams/muscles and in the black&white pasta tasted really good but I felt like the pasta itself didn't have much flavor (or it felt like it didn't soak up the flavor/sauce). So it felt like I was eating blend noodle. Pork chop on the other hand was good.
The short rib was super fatty, the potatoes were meh, the service was less than stellar. The drinks were good, strong and worth the money. It was an ok experience.
Bachelorette dinner. Outside / backyard ambiance is a tad dull, some tea lights or candles and background music would have been nice. Service is excellent and the food quality was phenomenal. Fresh vegetables... great options.
The food was fantastic and the Service was EXCELLENT!!!!
I'm not a huge fan of the menu, but it's a neighborhood restaurant and I had never sat in their patio area. So when I saw on Open Table that I could get a 6:15 reservation on the patio, I booked it and my wife and I walked to the restaurant for dinner. However, when we arrived, the hostess said there was no space. I reminded her that I specifically asked for the patio and it was confirmed, but she said I had only made the reservation 15 minutes earlier (which I am puzzled about its relevance) and how they were holding the space for a large party that would arrive at 7:30p. So we sat inside and were finished just when the large party was arriving. Luckily there are so many great restaurants in Mission Hills so I won't need to support this one again.
Good food and generous portions. Will come back again.
The burrata is life changing...we ordered it with the super fun mason jar spreads and had just enough of an appetite left to share a pasta dish. We chose the duck gnocchi...wow! The duck was tender and flavorful and the sauce was so savory! It worked perfectly with the delicate gnocchi. Awesome meal!
This is one of my favorite restaurants!! The food is excellent and the ambiance is great. The waiters are friendly and anxious to please.
The food is consistently great. The outdoor area is very pleasant and usually only half full.
I took my girlfriend here for here birthday. The food was DELICIOUS!!! Their chicken was the best I had ever had and their Karma Margarita (ingredients sound weird, I know... But GET IT!!) was the best Margarita I had ever had! I don't say "best" ever... i am not an octopus fan, but I thought it was actuallu pretty good. Girlfriend said it was amazing, so if you like octopus, get that too. And (our server) was so helpful and pleasant and his charisma made us laugh repeatedly! They then brought out a mango and coconut cheesecake as a surprise and it was also awesome! Thanks a LOT guys!!
A Great Find....Well be back we are foodies all the way....
Can’t recommend high enough ! Food people, service was nothing but fabulous. Can’t wait to go back!
Great please to get together with friends and family family. The outside seating area in the evening creates a great space to enjoy your food and conversation. The food was amazing and blow everyone away. The people in the kitchen are amazing and thank you for the meal. To anyone looking for something new and amazing come and enjoy.
Shoutout to Tyler, our server, who made the menu very hard to choose from! Our choices were backed by him and it did not disappoint! He patio was so nice especially during San Diego’s heat wave. Everything was delicious, atmosphere was great for the table for 7 with a toddler whose house made pasta were so good we all had a taste! I’ll be a repeated diner for brunch and dinner!
Great fresh ingredients, they take pride in farm to table dining. Octopus appetizer was excellent, tomato soup great per report, and eggplant/mushroom entree and duck gnocchi entrees were both great. Highly recommend as a neighborhood gem. Service could have been better, as wine was forgotten and she was not very attentive. Either way, would certainly go back!
Olivia was our server and she was so kind and helpful! Delicious food, great atmosphere as we sat outside on a hot summer night, and wonderful ambiance! Will be back.
A quaint neighborhood restaurant with an imaginative and very tasty menu; some gluten-free, some vegan, delicious breakfast and lunch choices. Service was attentive, cheerful, non-invasive. Full bar and wine selections. Indoor and outdoor options. Can't wait to go for breakfast next.
My friends and I ate outdoors and once the sun settled, it was a beautiful evening. The outdoor seating was very comfortable and relaxing. From the appetizers to the desserts, the food was fantastic. We shared some appetizers and salads (recommend the burnt carrots and the kale salad) and then each ordered a main course (fish special, ratatouille, lamb neck and short ribs). All plates were cleaned!! Service slowed down around dessert as a very large party had arrived and was being served dinner. But it gave us some time to let our dinner settle before the next course. Fresh and fine is what you'll get at the Farmer's Bottega!
Food was excellent. So glad they have a full bar, not just wine and beer.
It would be nice if the waiter exchanged the fork/knife after the appetizer course, so that the main course doesn't start with a mix of flavors.
Very noisy indoors. Hard to talk. Consider some wall, ceiling or floor changes to absorb some of the sound.
Excellent food, and atmosphere. Enjoyed every minute.
What a great find! The outdoor seating in the back of the restaurant was a beautiful spot for a family birthday dinner. Very quiet and peaceful. Dinner and service were great as well as good value. Highly recommend this spot!
We went for my husbands’ 67th birthday but got no acknowledgement of that! The food was fair but overpriced. The service good. The backyard is very cool!
Best meal we've had in San Diego in some time. We had the halibut. It was delicious.
Great service. Very nice patio ambience. Salads were very good. Hamburger was over done. Drinks were nice. Very expensive for me at $190 for four people with drinks.
We asked for an outside table, but none was available due to wine tasting event outside. I wish we’d had known, would have gone somewhere else. Noise level inside made conversation difficult if not impossible. Food was very good, but seemed overpriced. Next time I will make sure an outside table is available. 😢
I really enjoyed the ambiance, food and service. I'll definitely come back.
Wide variety of food choices. I enjoyed the seasonal melon salad and Mussels.
