Farmer & The Seahorse Ratings and Reviews
I just ordered the Brussel sprouts and beets and the sprouts were too big and under cooked and the beets were over cooked and hard???? I would try deep frying small sprouts and the beets needed more cheese and cooked properly. Hard to believe you can screw up beets but you did.
I was not happy that my request for outside seating was not granted without waiting an additional 20 minutes as I had made a reservation. Seated inside with all the windows open was chilly, uncomfortable, and a bit noisy for my taste. Outdoor seating is really the only way to go in this place. Service was very slow so not amenable to a business lunch break. Food was mediocre at best.
We really were pleased to find this hidden gem of a restaurant! It was last minute, and neither of us had ever heard of this place before. So we decided to give it a go and were glad we did. With its quirky, modern "American Gothic" decor, ample indoor/outdoor seating, and pleasantly hip but not overbearing background music, it is a perfect example of Southern California, hipster casual dining. I ordered the crabcake club sandwich as a lettuce wrap, and it was delicious. Even though there could have been more crab in the cake, it was well-seasoned with a nice crispy crust. My son enjoyed his fried chicken sandwich, and the fries were tasty. The service was a little slow getting started, but kept good pace once it did. Unfortunately, they do not serve dinner, but they do offer a Happy Hour and have live music. I am definitely going to return, I can't wait to see what my husband think of this place!!
This restaurant is wonderful! We have been several times for happy hour and loved it! So, we thought we would try the brunch and it was delicious. The music was great! We enjoyed several hours of lunching and live music while our daughters played jenga, corn hole, etc. It was a great experience.
Ambiance was great but my fried chicken with jalapeno "hot pepper " hollandaise and sausage gravy was overpriced and not very good. The chicken was dry and they served it with hollandaise only ( no sausage gravy as stated on menu ). When I asked the server, she said that non-spicy hollandaise is how it was supposed to be served, no gravy and not much jalapeno because some diners might find it too spicy. Biscuits and hollandaise, really?
I eat here often and love it. Today the restaurant was exceptional noisy, service was slow, and the food marginal. We ordered hamburgers medium and they came well done and tasteless. Given how long we waited for our food- we didn't have the time to send them back.
Fun environment with live music on sunday brunch. However the service was slow and we had top keep reminding them we had asked for coffee. They were nice enough to remove the cost of the coffees but still wasn't enough to give them 4stars for service. Food was good but didn't love up to expectations.
I loved the patio area..very relaxing. Although we arrived very early, at 1105am, and it wasn't busy until we were leaving, our waitress seemed to be missing at times. My friend, whose 50th birthday we were celebrating, and I both asked for salad dressings on the side but neither came that way. Instead of asking for a new one as I thought it'd take too long based on how long the intervals were between seeing our waitress, I just went ahead and ate the drenched salad. Then, when I asked the waitress if they do anything for a "birthday" she told us they do, but then the dessert was added to the check. Usually when a diner asks if the restaurant "does anything for someone's bday" it's usually complimentary, or at least in my experience.
I'll go again just for the ambiance.
