Farmer & The Seahorse
Breakfast- Order at the counter with the Baristas
Lunch: Full Table Service
Happy Hour: Counter Service through the bartenders.
Despite the crowd on Father's Day, T.J. and his team provided esxceptional service and the food as usual was great
I don't know what went wrong. The service was way too slow. Not sure what's causing the delay for not serving the coffee to us right away. We asked if we could borrow some pencils or crayons for the kids but after our server left and moved to a different table, she forgot us. Our server was too busy with other people. I understand the place was busy but there were other places that we have been which are more busier than this but never felt neglected. I felt we are not welcome so we are not going back.
I was disappointed that they do not have a dinner menu only happy hour. And the food was not that great.
We thoroughly enjoy having family get togethers at Farmer and the Seahorse. The food and drinks are great and the children's menu is wonderful. We particularly enjoy the outdoor dining and the areas for the kids to run around and play. Best multi - generational venue ever!
I love coming here. The food is great, the service is great, the atmosphere is awesome, both indoor and outdoor seating is on point! I recommend anything on the menu, but their crab cake sandwich and their open face lobster sandwich are my favorites. Sooooo good!
We checked in early at 1205pm, seated right away, but our food was not brought out till 105pm. Considering they should be ready for a rush, this was disappointing. The server was pretty aloof, which is not a good sign
It took 45 minutes for our food.. we ordered steamed salmon and hummus plate. Other than that i enjoyed the place. Staff did come by to check on us so it made up for the wait.
The tuna was very delicious. I enjoyed the kick of the chili vinaigrette.
Great place to bring the kids for brunch. Food has gotten better over the last year.
What a fabulous find! Service, food, space is exactly what you’d hope for in a family-friendly brunch spot. Clean, play area for kids, live music.
Kids enjoyed waffles and adults had the breakfast scramble and mimosas. Prices are great for the ambiance and service. Can’t wait to go back!
I’ve been here several times and the food is always excellent. Unfortunately we got stuck with a waitress that appeared to not be having a good morning and seemed
To be unhappy in general.
First time here. Loved the ambiance. Food was great and our server was attentive. I didn’t give five stars because we arrived at 5:30 on a Friday night and 2 HH choices were already unavailable for being sold out.
We had a reservation but had to wait an additional 10 minutes before our party was seated. When seated I felt like the hostess slightly threw our menus on the table. Server assigned to us was friendly but after our order was taken we were never checked on again. Food was good but nothing phenomenal, our party ordered two open face lobster rolls, chimichurri steak, and the salmon from the lunch menu. The member of my party that ordered the chimichurri steak received the steak with no chimichurri sauce and bacon on the lobster rolls was really tough to cut through. French fries were perfect. We really enjoyed dining on the patio. Side note: This was our first time here.
Love this place, great food, good service and love the live music and atmosphere
Very confused by this place. It’s in an office park and feels more like you are in an event space than a restaurant. It was recommended for brunch, but there were kids everywhere so not really to our liking. They were out of green tea and the menu is pretty limited. We won’t be back.
Great business lunch location. The overhead music is a bit loud for conversations. My server, Logan, was outstanding! She got the meeting aspect of our meal and was helpful but not overserving. Just right!
Great food. Great service. Grear atmosphere and vibe.
Great outdoor seating area with live music and nice happy hour specials.
Overall the food was amazing but the service was slow. I had the pancake souffle and crab cake toast both of which were amazing and highly recommended. The atmosphere was very lively. The server was knowledgeable but never came back to take our food order and our food took forever to come out but hoping it was a one time fluke. Overall it was a great experience and the food was amazing and definitely would come back.
This place has very nice decor and outdoor area. The place is very family and kid friendly which I love. It’s spacious enough that the kids have enough grass area to be away from people enjoying their meals. Brunch menu is excellent. We had the chillaquiles, mezcal bloody, and michelada. All were excellent.
This is one of our favorite places in La Jolla! It is phenomenal for kids and families because of the large AstroTurf lawn adjacent to patio dining. Fully equipped with lawn games too. A great menu for lunch & happy hour, reasonably priced. I’d recommend the lobster roll.
I used to keep Farmer & The Seahorse as my top selection for lunch. There are five reasons: 1) excellent food, 2) close to work, 3) nice environment, 4) resonable price, and, 5) good service. But, the impression got changed completely with the most recent experience. The restaurant still looks nice and menu is still the same. The waitress showed negative attitude and disappeared after bringing the water. We have to order the food from another waitress. We ordered the grass-fed hamburger and requested medium rare cooking. But the burgers we got were well-done and hard like a piece of wood. We gave the feedback to the waitress. She just said "Okay!". That is it! I'm not sure what has been changed over there. I was so shocked and sad to see that change. Oh well, hopfully ths is just one time thing. I don't know.
Our Easter Day reservation was toward late for the Brunch, but we arrived on time and noticed guests were seating themselves on unoccupied tables outdoors. It was unpredictably unorganized since the host-counter wasn't at the entrance but far indoors and no host was at the counter where we waited for someone to seat us, hence apparently lost opportune time for the best seating outdoors. Although uncomfortable, yet our family accepted a couple's smallest table to sit outside on a very nice it tasted very wet and sour to enjoy even a single bite. It looked and tasted nothing like a pancake but a sour-ricotta oven-baked mess. The chef has put a strange twist/a weird change to their perfectly good tasting original menu. Tea and espresso came cold, and 'Tropic like it's hot' smoothie was white in color with only 2-ingredients used -banana and coconut milk. It had no pineapple, strawberry or mango puree as described in menu. They ran out of these ingredients yet served us bland and charged full $7. In a nutshell, their menu is unbelievably small, and food subpar for Easter day brunch, but the day's atmosphere and energy were somewhat enjoyable.
Great experience- would have been all 5 stars but the menu seemed sort of limited in comparison to many of the places in the area. There wasn’t a very big selection.
The food tasted delicious and service was great. The music for Easter Brunch was perfect!
Went for Easter brunch, we picked because only a few minutes away from our home and didn’t want to go far. Had we known it was going to be filled to the brim with small children, we would have picked somewhere else. Very loud and kids every where. We actually managed to get there before it got crazy, but by the time we left... Waitress was wonderful, funny and good service. Food had potential to be great but was really just kind decent. I ordered the steak and eggs which was rather one-note in flavor and kind of cold once served. The Bottle of Mimosas was fun and well enjoyed. A little overpriced for what it was, not terrible. Might try again but definitely not on Easter.
Evenings do not have a full menu. Great for letting the kids run around and play.
The food was excellent and so fresh. Outside patio was lovely. There was a private event nearby but it didn't bother us. Service was excellent. Highly recommend giving it a try and you will want to go back!
Had a Margarita Pizza and it was a "glump" of cheese with some half cut cherry tomatoes on top. Had the Burger and it was too greasy to eat! The Poke was boring (at best!). The meatballs were NOTHING SPECIAL. I was VERY disappointed. I am a big Brian Malarkey fan (Benn to all Seersucker's, and Gingham, etc...) and had wanted to go to this restaurant for some time now. Very sad!!
20 minutes after being seated, no one had come to turn on the heater (as promised by the hostess), filled water glasses, or otherwise acknowledged us. I finally got up to speak to the hostess about it. When the waitress did arrived, she was stiff and avoided eye contact. Our order included a side of beets. It didn’t arrive so we had to ask for them. They came as we were finishing the last couple of bites of our meal. I was embarrassed to have taken my guest to this restaurant.
this is the 3rd time I have been here. The food has just gotten progressively worse. all of our meals were cold when they arrived (3 egg dishes). My daughters waffles were over cooked and tasted a bit burnt. Our second trip was ok, but I wanted to give it another chance s that's why we came back. While its a fun place with great ambiance, I don't think we will be back.:(
Good food, slow service on a slow Friday evening.
Love the look and feel of this restaurant. Indoor to outdoor and back flow effortlessly...fun, modern vibe to the decor...lawn games when the mood strikes.
The poke and the mussels were quite good, as was the hazelnut cake with marmalade, saving the food rating from one or two stars only. Unremarkable and rather tasteless fish tacos. Pork belly sliders that we all actually wondered if they’d used fish instead of the pork belly with what surely were stale buns—or just a very poor quality bun. A roasted beet hummus with barely a nod to beets—only lending color but no depth of flavor, and unfortunately served with pita bread that was not soft but also not crunchy...Just somewhere between that came off as stale.
The service, though quite friendly, was s l o w. 15 minutes to get a refill on my wine, though the place was less than half full.
Would I return? Yes, for the atmosphere. And some good friends tell me breakfast is done well. I might give it a try.
Salads too salty
Desert choc chip cookie stale
Side 'salad' w burger misnomer- lettuce only
It was difficult to make a reservation for 14. Left several voicemails over several days and never had a call back to confirm. When I finally got someone on the phone they said they would have to call back. Another wait. Even then it was difficult; I had put in an Open Table reservation for 10, the max, but the person still wanted to turn us away siting the need to maximize customer experience. Persistence and flexibility prevailed finally. How about the customer experience when no one returns phone calls? Zero stars there. I was bringing 10 new people to the F&S experience and they loved it. They didn’t know about the hassle I had.
The manager Alissa and our server Emily were both great! I'm glad that they were able to accommodate outdoor seating for my large party. Their were 2 private events with reserved space going on at the same time. Everyone enjoyed their food and grounds itself for the little ones to run around and entertain themselves.
Cute place, healthy and tasty menu options, but pretty noisy inside and small portions compared to similar meals at nearby restaurants @ price point.
Happy hour without a full dinner menu following it means few choices for dining. Please add more non-Animal-based choices. Hummus is not good for DINNER.
Our first visit and we enjoyed it. Nothing over the top special but we’ll be back at some point.
The service was surprisingly poor., from the moment we checked in with a reservation and had to wait 10 minutes for our table. And no one seemed to mind. When we ordered an appetizer we waited over 5 minutes for someone to bring us plates so we could eat it.
The food was under seasoned, lacked flavor and my tuna was cooked far beyond rare. As a final note, our server brought us the check without ever asking if we wanted dessert.
Love Farmer and the Seahorse...my date liked it too. Great service...great food...great atmosphere. We were there for Sunday Brunch and found it to be priced about right. We weren’t rushed at all.
