FARM at Carneros Ratings and Reviews
The FARM is a wonderful place, the food is phenomenal with local fare and the freshest of ingredients, the service staff is prepared to discuss what is on the menu, extremely attentive to your needs, and the sommelier is knowledgeable. Everyone is kind and very professional. This is our new favorite restaurant.
Dined on valentines and while the service was very attentive we were both really disappointed with the food itself. Several of the dishes were quite lacklustre and the scallops dish was borderline unpleasant. The final course of chocolate cake was dry and just not worth the calories. How do you mess up chocolate cake on valentines?!
Setting, decor and service all very nice though.
My husband and I went for date night after hearing wonderful things about this place, and we weren't disappointed. Absolutely impressive decor, service that made you feel taken care of and the most mind-blowingly delicious duck I've ever had. The one dark spot on this otherwise stellar review was that my husband ordered a Sculpin (very expensive beer) for $14 (on par with other places) and they were out of it, so they brought him a Lagunitas IPA (much cheaper) with a beaten-up label and, once opened and sipped, tasted a little old. He was tired, and didn't want to make a fuss, but I was not pleased that we were still charged for the more expensive bottle on our bill. We'll return, but we'll be a bit careful when reviewing our bill. It feels weird to quibble about such a thing, but I think it's because everything else was so perfect, this just stood out.
Pleasant evening, have been here several times in the past. Food is all excellent, though we often waited much longer than expected between courses....over 2 hrs for 2 courses, even though we DID linger for 20 mins over he wine list and menu. While our waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable, some items were not explained as intended. Restaurant made good on the miscommunication and again, quality of the food was excellent.
Excellent Place to Linger Over Beautiful Food
I went with 2 friends of mine and we had one of the most delicious meals I've ever had at Farm. We moved gently through oysters on the half shell to beef in 3.5 hours.
The beau solei and miyagis were delicious with a little sparkling from the manager because the vermentino we ordered was not chilled.
Then on to a lovely Farm salad with delicious radichio dressed lightly with a lovely vinaigrette. Along side was a scrumptious toast with burrata that melted in your mouth.
Next course a delicious and very green Dungeness crab risotto with a basil oil drizzle. Mouthwatering!
After those small plates, we moved on to the entree for surf and turf. A lovely combination of sweet diver scallops and beef cheek in two dishes was the capper.
The service was impeccable, friendly and approachable yet not in your face. Each dish came in perfect timing and all dishes were removed with new glassware brought with each wine pairing.
You shouldn't miss this hidden gem at the Carneros Resort. It is definitely a destination worth visiting and returning to near the Napa Valley.
Table for two after a day of wine tasting in St Helena. We ordered a gin based cocktail and had the farm salad, the truffle tagliatelle, the lamb, and the duck. The cocktail was very good. The salad was average. The tagliatelle was delicious! The lamb and duck were very mediocre. The veggies in these meat dishes were very random and too acidic, so didn't really go that well.
There was also a 1 hour delay between our salad and the next course for some reason, likely because they had to serve a large table which threw off their pacing. They did not do anything to compensate for the wait which was a bit surprising given how much we paid for the meal. Although we were not in a rush, I think this tainted the experience because I had not eaten anything significant for about 8 or 9 hours after a full day of wine tasting and at that point I only had one cocktail, a small portion of salad, and bread.
Overall the service was still quite good, and the ambience was wonderful, but don't think I'd come back. I would give it a 3.5 stars. There are many other better places in the area to try for your money's worth. Probably a great option if you're actually staying at the resort.
So - La - La
We had dinner the night before, granted Saturday evening, a wedding and 40th birthday in the house, to celebrate the 60th birthday of 1 in our party.
The appetizers came out in a decent time and were good.
We then waited for about 40 minutes for the main course. We asked about 35 minutes in and were told they are dished NOW. It took another 10 minutes.
The Risotto was hot and tasty, The scallops god, the duck and Truffle Pasta Luke warm.
Not impressed by the size of the pasta either, looked more like a starter size, though the fresh truffle was a good amount an delicious. But you know the truffle only allows to spread the flavor when the food is warm. I asked if the dish was available in warm, it took a moment and it was plastered with a huge dollop of some sort of a cream - not impressed.
The family style breakfast is a great idea however, we were not asked if there are any allergies the kitchen needs to know about. This time it was not full and that is an important question.
The Avocado toast was good, the french brioche toast one of the best we ever had. The one at Hilltop was outstanding too.
We asked for a vegetarian Egg Benedict asking if it possible to substitute the ham with mushrooms, kale, spinach, a tomato, anything. It came on a bread soaked in the citrussy hollandaise nothing was substituted. BUT the egg was cooked to perfection.
The green juices were delicious, BUT PLEASE think about the amount of plastic - either look for an alternative for the plastic straw Loli straw or paper and do not make it an compulsory item.
We celebrated my husbands 35th birthday last night at Farm. Our entire meal was delicious and service was perfectly paced to our liking. We enjoyed several courses including caviar (amazing egg curd and onion jam!), foie gras terrine, tagliatelle with fresh truffles (so yummy), and finished with the scallops and tasting of beef. While the flavors were classic, the preparations made the dishes exciting and fresh. The sommelier, Zion, was very helpful in selecting wine to go with our meal as well. We cannot wait to come back!
We went on Christmas. First and foremost i think that if there is only a prix fixe menu this should be mentioned to all diners in advance! We turned up and were shocked to hear this but unfortunately it was too late to go anywhere else. They managed to cater for an allergy restriction by substituting the dish with salad - a really good one I must say. Food was overall pretty good, servers were very friendly. Dessert was huge, meal very filling.
Will go again but being presented only a prix fixe menu without being told in advance is poor form. If there is only this menu it should be stated clearly. I checked at Time of booking and on their website and this was not stated at all. At least one other table had issues with this.
Dinner was delicious. We had red snapper which was tasty and cooked perfectly with a crisp skin and not dry or over cooked. The chicken had more flavor than any chicken we’ve ever tasted. Service was impeccable. The staff was friendly and attentive. The chef made our night even more special by serving an additional appetizer with vegetables grown in their garden. The poke appetizer was like no other and we loved the roasted seaweed chips that accompanied the dish. The candy bar dessert was scrumptious. We will return in the summer so we can enjoy the grounds and outside seating. This was a beautiful setting both inside and out. Everything in the dishes was very well thought out and seasoned perfectly.
Disappointed, we have dined at Farm before, this time though was not very pleasant. Martinis were watery, service was slow, food was luke warm. They were not busy either. We had a 7:15 reservation and didn’t finish until 10:30. Our waitress was pleasant, but overall the service was very slow.
