The farm has a lovely chilled environment, the food tastes and looks amazing and the staff are always friendly
Reserved a table I'm glad I did as it was full the service was excellent food was really good it was my mums 96 birthday celebration and they did not let me down mum enjoyed her day
I appreciate it was a Friday night but the restaurant was not overly busy.
Very slow service. Live 'entertainment' was extremely loud and, in my opinion, not very good. we had trouble hearing what each other was saying.
Quite expensive and not value for money. £7.95 for 6 tiny bits of calamari.
Fish and chip main - I question whether the triple cooked chips were triple cooked. They were hard.
It averaged out at £28 per person. We did not have a bottle of wine or deserts! Expensive.
We had the roasts dinners very disappointed, not enough meat, and definitely not enough veg for the two of us. We also waited an hour.
The drink service was slow especially for a Tuesday night. For a big restaurant a hen party was seated next to us which wasnt great but food was lovely, we had a great time together and we will be back again.
Table of 8 for lunch on a Tuesday. Food was very good - lamb curry, ploughman’s, fish and chips etc. Very few people there but it took nearly an hour to get the food.
We visit the farm on a regular basis because we love the atmosphere and the food, the only complaint I have about our visit on Sunday was the cold bruised roast potatoes with my roast pork and an extremely small portion of veg... I must say though it’s probably because they had a party of 16 just before us! But normally it’s amazing..
The FOFS is a lovely pub/restaurant. The menu is reasonable and staff friendly. However, for the third time in a row this year visiting, food was delayed (by an hour) and drinks orders forgotten. We were informed that this was due to a table for 12 being served. The restaurant was not full and the kitchen could not meet with a very average Saturday night demand. It’s again, very disappointing. Management clearly need to improve kitchen and waiting staff timeliness and attention to customers.
The meal was lovely, the staff were great but the band playing were too loud for us to be able to talk - we could not hear each other speaking and it ruined our evening sadly.
As was expected, a great restaurant/bar staffed by great people in fantastic surroundings. Emma is to be congratulated on how she runs the place. Food cooked and presented to perfection, I really cannot rate this place highly enough.
Found the food lacking on this occasion and didnt eat my main course!

First visit with family was stuck in a corner so was looking at the wall so not so good. Food was a long time coming 2 of the group enjoyed there Mussels which was good. Prawn Cocktail poor prawns very small. Chinese spring rolls to big for a starters. Main course poor. Had roast ham so salty and roast potatoes still had skins on then. Service v slow. And poor cauliflower cheese tasteless.

We visit once a month as a group , we always get a lovely welcome from Hannah and excellent service . Food and atmosphere always right and never noisy.
Not my first time. Has a lovely comfortable feel. Food was good. Had nice steaks but could have perhaps done with proper steak knives! Service was also very good. Will definitely be back.
We were unfortunate yet again to lunch whilst a wake was in progress. Insufficient staff led to delays in delivering main course..an hour after order. A platitudinous excuse of waiting 20 minutes between courses,one of us had a Scotch Egg as a starter,is irrelevant as the wait was 40 minutes. Again only 3 choices of ale,all prices of alcohol seem to increase on each visit. When mains arrived ,to be fair,they were very good & up to standard.There are many other good food outlets locally more reasonably priced,of equal quality & better service.
The lesson learned is never lunch when the pub is holding a wake.
Great service and very impressed with food a great choice and quality very good.
Only criticism would be the kids mac and cheese (which was really good) was served in a hot skillet on a hot plate - surely this is a health and safety issue.
My children are 4 and the waitress just said be careful it's hot...understatement i couldn't touch it it was that hot.
If my kids had touched it they would have burnt themselves. Kids meals should not be served on hot plates.
From arrival to exit staff were warm and friendly and were very attentive. Coped with birthday song and 3 year old grandson with good humour. Final bill was good value for memorable birthday lunch
We visited on a cold and wet evening, but were welcomed into the bar and show to a lovely table that was quiet but not isolated. Our food was really lovely and great value... both our meals were very tasty and we enjoyed the dining experience very much. My only slight gripe was that my wife ordered a large glass of Sauvignon Blanc wine with her meal and I was rather surprised to see it on our final bill at £9-85..for a glass of wine! Perhaps Im behind the times, but I did think that this was rather overpriced in the setting of a pub.
But other than that, it was great value and a very nice experience and we will definitely return...but will go with the house wine in future!
Like the place but the food is quite average. Staff nice and everything else good but food needs to up its game.

We have been to The Farm on a number of occasions for a roast and always enjoyed it, typically on a Sunday between 2.00 & 3.00pm. On this occasion we had friends down from Wakefield who regularly eat out for Sunday Dinner. They were not impressed, especially with the price, £15.95 for a roast dinner. "We would have paid £10.00 for two at home for just the same meal", was their comment. I would have argued the case had the food been up to its usual standard but it it wasn't. At 5.15pm the food appeared and tasted somewhat tired, especially the roast potatoes.

On the plus side the staff were as always excellent.
We waited ages to be served. The staff were all very nice and professional but slow. We didn’t order any bread and oil because we waited so long. The calamari wasn’t cooked properly (we couldn’t be bothered to complain). We had a roast turkey each and felt the potatoes were over cooked and the turkey was just slices taken out of a packet you’d get from the supermarket. The vegetables were lovely though and there was lots of them. We shared a chocolate brownie which was also very nice. A large glass of wine was £7- ridiculous! We have eaten at the following Whiting and Hammond restaurants: The Cricketers Inn, The Chaser, The Rose and Crown and The Mark Cross Inn and the Farm at Friday Street is the worst! The place is really nice inside and out and the decor is lovely but the food really let it down.
We often go to the Farm for lunch. However this time was surprised when presented with the bill. The cost of two large glasses of Chardonnay wine which is usually £14.70 had risen to £19.20.
I guess in future it that it would be advisable to ask the price before ordering drinks.
First class Service from Debbie and great food plenty of it very relaxed atmosphere the acoustic set it the garden was a nice touch on a Sunday ..
Wonderful breakfast and good value. Have frequented this establishment before for lunch and dinner so know the food is always good and freshly cooked. Highly recommend.
We had a very enjoyable evening. Both the food and the service was very good. We will certainly go back.

Food very good as usual but service not the usual high standard. Arrived 12.05.No menus. No printer cartridges & only 1 member of staff on bar. Long delay to place order & had to go to the bar & wait to do so.(Wake ).Limited choice of beer available.
Order placed 1.43. but when food arrived ,all else was forgiven.
I have eaten here a lot in the past. Always good with locally sourced food. This time around the service was a little slow and steak rather fatty (I realise this can't always be helped). It is quite expensive; for example a starter prawn cocktail £7 and two small bottles of diet coke £6.50. But would still recommend as a decent varied menu.
On this visit, service was poor and food not as good as previous visits. It was one of my favourite places to eat, but not sure now whether we will go again, when there are lots of good restaurants in Eastbourne.
Nice waitress, good food, all you expect when eating out !
Lovely food, this is the second time we have visited and enjoyed it just as much as on our first visit.

We love visiting the Farm at Friday Street, you always get a warm welcome from the team and the menu has a good mix of all your favourites plus some exciting new things to tempt you!
Always a good experience, friendly welcome, professional service, good food at good prices .
The food was poor and not as good as a carvery but twice the price. But the thing that was really noticable was the staff chatting about what they had been upto and the constant chatter that could be heard by the diners. I'm not saying dont talk but they should be made aware that they can be heard and it doesn't give a professional image.
