We had been there in the past and bragged about the food to friends. The food was not as good as it has been in the past. Disappointing that an entree ordered before was changed in the way it was prepared! Much too rich causing the person who had that to be sick that night.
Cannolis were great!
The food was traditional delicious Italian fare, well prepared and plentiful. The service was above average, and we enjoyed our meals and the evening. The only thing that made our experience slightly less than ideal was the noise level, which was very high and sometimes made it difficult to have a normal conversation. I would, however, recommend the restaurant and the food, and we will plan on a return visit.
This was my second dining experience at Farina. The first was a business meeting and this time with wife and friends who are world travelers. All had rave reviews for food, service (Angela was our waiter), spacious pleasant environment, and comfortable chairs. I would rate this as tops for those factors and value (huge portions) for fair price. We ordered calamari appetizer which was tender and scrumptious, followed by shared caesar salads, chicken piccata and marsala main courses. Multiple wine glasses. Desserts were cheesecake, gelato and tiramisu all outstanding and large portions. Cafe latte to finish. Not rushed. Very friendly staff. Would recommend for bot social and business dining.
Birthday dinner. Very good. I would definitely go back.
Service a bit slow at first but quickly set pace after waitress found us. Everyone at the table enjoyed the meal...a bit pricey
Went with my wife and we loved everything we ordered. My wife ordered eggplant parmigiana and the portion was so large we thought they brought the family size in error. I ordered the Sunday Gravy which has me drooling thinking about it. Definitely going back.
Very tasty, great service, ample portions and a very nice location. A bit pricey especially if you can’t resist the merlot. It’s more of a pasta joint than an Italian joint as there’s no beefy lasagna and the pizza offering is solidly hipster.
This was our second time trying Farina. The first time the service was great and the food was awesome. This time, the service was abysmal. Took almost 1/2 hour to get our appetizer and another 25 minutes to get our food. We were there almost an hour when we finally got our food. The food was good but after waiting that long, all we wanted to do was go home and not eat. The restaurant manager ended up "comping" our meal but I seriously doubt we will go there again. Not worth the hour drive on the hopes of getting a meal.
Great food great service
Everything was wonderful from the service to the food to the atmosphere. We will most certainly be back!!
Awesome as usual. Excellent food and service!
We had reservations but the hostess sat us at one of the worst tables even though only 3 other tables were occupied. Server was great but food was nothing special.
This was my first time at Farina and the food and drinks were excellent. Stephen was our waiter and treated us like family. Roasted chicken pasta and butternut squash ravioli were delicious. Definitely will return.
Discovered Farina Neighborhood Italian from OpenTable's suggestion system. We were very happy we went with the recommendation. By far the best Italian food I have had in a while and my favorite in the Triangle. Try the Gnocchi, they are like pillows of goodness (they use ricotta instead of potatoes). The bruschetta is enormous! Save room for dessert, we didn't :-)
Excellent food and outstanding service.
We celebrated my husband's birthday last week. The service was great and the food was delicious. Only one problem :-( I am gluten free and asked if the Chicken Saltimbocca was gluten free. The server checked with the kitchen and was told it was. So yummy, but the next couple of days reminded me to check the ingredients more carefully.
We ordered from Triangle Restaurant Week menu. The Roast chicken main course was very small and terrible. We were very disappointed and would not recommend.
Went for restaraunt week. Was satisfied with starter and main but dessert (mini cheesecake) wasn't great. Sadly neither of us wanted to eat it. Would have been nice if server offered to replace, oh well. I'll still be back again.
This was such a disappointing date night. As soon as we arrived, the hostess informed us the next reservation was at 7:15 - ours was for 5:30 - so to be mindful of that (implying not to be slow). When we walked in to the main dining area, we were met with tacky Italian decor (seriously, even olive garden looks nicer) and orange paint. It was very noisy, but we didn't mind this as it gave you privacy in your own conversation(s). The lighting was dimmed so it was quite nice.
My husband ordered an appetizer of aged provolone and mixed olives. They were absolutely disgusting. They must have marinaded them in a LOT of lemon (which i love lemon usually) and a LOT of rosemary. They tasted the way pine sol smells.
After we each ordered a single glass of wine for the appetizer the waiter took the wine list away. What?!?!?!?! There wine list wasn't extensive, but there was enough variety to please. If you buy by the glass there were significantly less options for you, but still enough to keep one happy (unless you were a sommelier or something lol).
Then the entrees were served WAY TOO fast. We could tell they were rushing us. It was far from a relaxing restaurant! The good thing is that there were a decent amount of vegetarian options, the bad thing is that they aren't very good. My husband ordered eggplant parmesan. A simple dish, that can be delicious if executed properly. Farina missed the mark on this one. The pasta was obviously not homemade (if we go out, we want homemade pasta), the sauce was flavourless, and the eggplant itself was way over salted. I ordered a dish that was so confusing and not what i expected at all. The title of it was something to the effect of balsamic glazed mushrooms. It turned out to be rigatoni with a crap ton of heavy cream and cheese. There was little to no complexity of the flavours in this dish and definitely no balsamic.
Went for restaurant week. The defined menu had good options (3 appetizers, 3 entrees, 3 desserts). $30/person for dinner, 3 course meal. Short ribs are good. Roasted chicken was okay, just not what was expected. Desserts were good. Appetizers okay. Plate serving size was small (more like a lunch portion). Waiter was just okay. I think restaurant week is over rated at this place. Dinner for two with a glass of wine each and tip was $100. A bit pricey. I have post purchase syndrome for sure.
An absolutely awesome time with incredible food, great service, and beautiful ambiance.
This was a real find. It was our first time there, and we plan to return many times. The food was really good and the portions were most generous. Also, the price was right. Only slight disappointment was with the wine list. That aside, this was a most enjoyable experience.
The clam and sausage pasta is usually great but this time it was swimming in 2 inches if oil. Really unappetizing and unhealthy! Could not eat it.
It was great
We’ll be back—that’s the best recommendation I can give!
First time at restaurant and couldn't have been more pleased. Definitely will be back.
Everything we have tried at Farina has been excellent. And we usually end up trying so many different things, we have leftovers to enjoy for the rest of the week!
Very enjoyable meal with excellent service
We love this place! Always great service and the food...AMAZING! Huge portions and delicious! The best place in Lafayette Village!
Food and service were excellent. Out of town guests were very happy with my choice.
Chose this restaurant on a whim...so glad we did. Not close to home, but so worth the drive!
First visit for NYE. Great chicken piccata. Canollis were fabulous. Great cocktail. Would go back.
Wonderful experience, excellent food + great experience!!
Excellent first time experience and IMHO FINALLY a really good Italian restaurant in the area...the only one that we've found to which we will go back a second+ time. Our group had pasta with Sunday Gravy and pasta bolognese as well as the chicken and broccoli over pasta with an olive oil and garlic toss. Great salads as well.
Good food, great service! Thanks for a nice dinner and evening!
Excellent service and food was prepared perfectly. We requested gluten free meals and the staff modified their salad and entrees, accordingly. Been to Farina several times; every time with a better impression.
Excellent real italian food.
Kitchen was slow even though the restaurant did not appear crowded. Took just over 30 mins to get the kid's meal and about 45 for the rest of dinners. Food was pretty good, but nothing exceptional.
Outstanding as always! One of our favorite places to dine with friends and family.
