At FareStart, food is the tool that transforms lives. FareStart is a culinary job training and placement program for homeless and disadvantaged individuals. The FareStart Restaurant, located at 7th & Virginia in downtown Seattle, is open for lunch Monday-Friday from 11am–2pm, and for Guest Chef Night dinners on Thursdays from 5:30-8 p.m. All proceeds from the restaurant go back into the program to support FareStart’s job training and placement programs.

Held at the FareStart Restaurant, Guest Chef Night is a weekly highlight for the FareStart community. For FareStart students, it is a unique opportunity to work with Seattle's premier chefs. Every Thursday night, a different local chef works with students to prepare a delicious three-course meal. Guest Chef Night is $29.95 per person. Parking details
Garage Parking for Guest Chef Night is available in the 1918 8th Ave Parking Garage. The garage is located on Virginia St, just across from the police station, between 8th & 9th Ave. Parking for our guests is $6.00 from 4-10 pm with proof of patronage at FareStart. Please provide your receipt to the parking attendant upon exiting to receive this special rate. Valid Thursday nights only.
There are also several area lots, garages, and accessible street parking available during the day.

This is one of my favorite places. It's well run, immaculate, friendly staff and wonderful food. The mission is exceptional and I support the guest chef nights.

As always, FareStart is a community gem. Helping people who want a second chance is a gift to our community and allowing those who want to make a difference succeed. The food is terrific and the volunteers are wonderful people helping to make FareStart the best it can be.

I really admire the concept of Farestart. The food and the service were both good, and the "vibe" of the restaurant was great! I had a good feeling when I left there, seeing such a noble idea working so well. I will be returning again!

We came for guest chef night with Ciudad and it was fabulous! FareStart is such a fun restaurant as you get to help a great organization while eating delicious food from local chefs.

The food is amazing. The atmosphere is just right - casually elegant, yet comfortable. The wait staff is serious about customer service. The fact that the restaurant is doing the good work of providing job training is a feel-good bonus feature. Farestart is the best!

Guest Chef Night with Jerry Traunfeld was a wonderful meal. RED BRAISED BEEF CHEEK CONGEE with Cilantro, Peanut and Pickled Daikon had very tender beef, complex flavors with enough heat from the chilly oil. YOGURT BRAISED CHICKEN with Fried Onion, Raisins and Masala Yams had tender chicken that falls off the bone!

As supporters of FareStart, we are lucky to get complimentary dinners for 2 at a guest chef night. We always enjoy the positive vibe of the volunteers, other diners, staff, and the graduating students. FareStart does a great job making you feel like part of the change they are making in people's lives while you enjoy a delicious meal prepared by a renowned chef.

Enjoyed both the food and service. This is a great program well worth supporting. We came for a friends birthday lunch and were all impressed. The cobb salad was nicely dressed and topped with a warm grilled chicken breast. All of the dishes featured fresh ingredients with an interesting twist. Very creative.

What a wonderful experience! Had not been to Fare Start for years (since they moved to this location) and I really love the concept. I appreciated the varied menu since one in our group was vegetarian; it was nice to have several options. Everything was exceptionally good. The service top notch and the overall value is almost impossible to believe. Strongly recommend!!

I brought my office crew here for the first time to see what the experience would be like and we were all blown away by the great menu, attentive service and trendy feel of the atmosphere. 3 out of 4 of us are vegetarian. We all had something different and we all thought the choices were difficult! Every dish was beautifully presented and delicious and it is a great place to splurge. We all decided we will start to make this a monthly lunch spot!
