Food was very good but the place is so darn loud! Very hard to hold a conversation.
Great for brunch, the veggie omelet was great, and all the ingredients were so fresh and delicious.
Food was really good actually. Service was horrible. Food brought in wrong order and simple requests met with outright hostility. It was so bad it was weird. There are a lot of places in Philly with really good food, so I will go there instead.
Great brunch spot.
Fare is a very comfortable and inviting restaurant with good food at a fair price.
Excellent, friendly server. Exciting, delicious, beautifully plated salads, main courses. Casual, unfussy ambiance. Lively bar. And the best creme brule I've ever tasted!
Great meal. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Nice to have this restaurant in the neighborhood within walking distance.
Had a large group for a birthday dinner. Everyone loved Fare, the scrumptious food and drinks. Service was better than perfect.
Will return when we can eat outside. Inside noise level to.
The food was so good! We enjoyed everything we ordered and it was such a cute place. Definitely will be back!
I've been to Fare several times and always enjoy the food. I brought friends here for their first time and they were very impressed with the menu and loved the food; they both enjoyed the avocado toast. I was happy to have gluten free options and comfortable asking for care being taken with cross contamination. I was also very pleased to see grass fed beef burger cooked perfect to my request. Waitress/kitchen was very accommodating my changes.
The food was excellent and the service was attentive and quick. My friends and I had a time constraint (to catch a train) and the food came out with plenty of time to spare. The restaurant provided a nice atmosphere to end a day of touring Philly with out of town guests.
I would definitely recommend Fare to others looking for a great restaurant in Fairmount.
I took my daughter to Fare for Valentine’s Day dinner. It was a last minute decision and we had no idea what to expect. We go out often and know many of the restaurants in Center City, but not so much those in the Fairmount area. Fare was great. The service was excellent and the food was very good. Grilled Octopus on a puree of white beans was excellent and the calamari was good too. I had the skirt steak which was ok and my daughter had the lamb chops which were very good. Overall, it’s a solid place with a great atmosphere and really good food. I will definitely go back.
Excellent fish tacos. In fact, the whole plate with rice and beans and coleslaw was pretty and delicious. I did not leave a crumb.
The food was good, and the service, attentive. We would certainly return to Fare for similar occasions.
Good food but both of our first and second courses came out together. And everything had too much oregano. Other than that I enjoyed everything and both of the bartenders that waited on us were great.
Dull food (silly salad, etc); young, silly service; horrible fries; tasteless burger. Our third time (we live nearby), always carelessly prepared food. Tourist place — owners think diners are stupid don’t know good food.
Great location! Maitre D’ was a bit curt . It was a slow night & service was average. Once was enough for me!
Another terrific meal at Fare. The service is always fantastic and our meals were spot on. We love their varied menu and they are always able to modify ingredients to meet my clean WOE (way of eating).
Look forward to returning soon.
Three of us went out for a long deferred brunch. The service was delightful: pleasant, accurate and quick without being rushed. I had the meat omelette of the day which was piping hot and cooked all the way through without being burnt. My friends had the eggs Benedict and the breakfast burrito. Both were also excellent. We shared a lovely French red which was a delicious accompaniment for our meal.
The food is great and the the atmosphere is relaxed. Friendly service and a willingness to accommodate dietary needs. We love having a place we can go to with friends or just for a bite when we don’t want to cook. Consistently delicious!
Introduced Fare to our family visiting from Atlanta. They loved the food and service as we did! Lovely restaurant......we’ve always been pleased!
Very interesting menu
my sons took me for my birthday and it was just lovely! varied menu and seasonal choices!
Food was really good, our server answered all of our questions since it was our first time. Would recommend.
Great neighborhood restaurant with high quality and consistent value.
Great menu with wonderful fish and seafood options. The whole fish was wonderful, as was the seafood pasta which was loaded with seafood. We shared the pililia of spreads and the fare chips, and both were great. Not too noisy, and great service.
Consistently rewarding. Please get an Espresso machine though!
good neighborhood restaurant - attentive service, good food, large portions and reasonably priced
From the second we walked through the door we did not feel welcome. We were the only ones there and they made a comment about “oh there’s people here” like they were annoyed that they had to stop sitting around. We were checked on very much and our questions were barely answered. We had an issue with something and we basically had to beg them to find out about our entree.
Great spot for lunch dinner and a beautiful outdoor area with heaters for chilly nights!
Table for Sunday brunch available immediately at scheduled time. Prompt and friendly service. Somewhat limited menu but well prepared and tasty meals. Outstanding value for quality of food at restaurant prices.
Food and ambiance were great. Service was poor. Server was inattentive and uninformed.
Love Fare, expecially those Fare chips! inventive dishes and familiar ones, all beautifully prepared. Nice portions. Nice people. Not too noisy to enjoy the conversation. A real gem. The menu changes seasonally. each season there has been one new dish I've fallen in love with.
Lovely food, reasonably priced, great service. But so loud despite the fact it was a weeknight and relatively few people were there! This wasn't "energetic", it was almost unpleasant.
Dined here for the second time and again Fare didn’t disappoint! Love the calamari and the truffle fries.
The food was bland. The service was not very accommodating either. The server was rude about a question I asked on the menu. When I asked for a table outside in the sun, to be warm, he said there weren't any. The menu was different from the one on their website, that offered more options.
Went to Fare for dinner before heading over to Terror Behind the Walls. We were just looking for the closet place that would take reservations and stumbled upon this gem. I had the crispy tuna roll which was the best sushi roll I've had since I left San Francisco. I ate it so fast my boyfriend asked if I unhinged my jaw and swallowed it whole. He had truffle fries as an appetizer. They were soooo good. Loaded with parmesan cheese and truffle oil. I kept stealing them. For dinner he had the shrimp flat bread which I did not try because of chorizo but he enjoyed it and it smelled great. I had the shrimp salad. I thought it was going to have those little salad shrimp mixed in but it had three huge spicy tiger prawns on top. They were amazing. I could of just eaten a plate of those suckers. We finished the night off with pumpkin crème brulee and apple cranberry crisp. Both were delicious. We left stuffed to the gills but happy and looking forward to returning. Yum! Love this place.
FARE is a good place, but not a special or extraordinary one. Food is good, service is attentive and the bar is well-organized. But there are many more of equal quality in that part of Philly, so while I wouldn't say "don't go there", the best I can do is "If you're in the neighborhood, it's fine, but don't go out of your way to go there."
Need to be more responsive to regular customers.
