They were out of several menu items, including the crabcakes, which was disappointing. Spent $100 on an average meal for two.
The service needs improving ... first the slight attitude we felt from our server when he approached our table and throwout our dining experience, needs to learn the difference between a sea scallop and bay scallop and 2 our guest that ordered the seafood pasta dish never got shrimp in their dish when its specifically states it on the menu and the server or manager never let us know instead they served the dish without it and probably hoped we didn't realize one of the main ingredients was missing ... once the server was told he then 20 mins later brought 2 shrimp each to our guest ..we all laughed ... but I will say the food was delicious enough that we will try this restaurant again and hope the service is more to par with the chefs culinary skill.
Came here for dinner with my mom. Service was great, and the food was excellent. We each had a drink, and shared a cheeseburger, mushroom flatbread and arugula tomato mozz salad. The only complaint was that it's very loud in there.
Our family had a really wonderful time at Fare. The food was excellent as was the service. There is such a fine variety of choices, and the servings were ample. Next time we will share even the main courses. We ordered far too much food.
We had a very pleasant meal. The decor was nice, the food was excellent and the service was very good. We all loved the octopus.
Delicious food at reasonable prices. Great restaurant
on Fairmount Ave.
Had a great time! Had a great time!Had a great time!Had a great time!Had a great time!
Our server rushed us to order our meal when we made reservations. This impression didn't really set the tone for the rest of the night. Still enjoyed the food and wine.
The food and service were very good, however, my main course came loaded with olives, which I don't like and were not mentioned on the menu. The server gladly took it back and had the dish remade without the olives.
We chose 'Fare' after searching for organic restaurants near our hotel and we're glad we did. The food was outstanding. We sat on the outdoor patio and it was perfect. (The chairs weren't the most comfortable in the world but adequate). They have a nice wine list and an unusually excellent whiskey list. We had the meat and cheese plate to start, the lamb and the avacado crab cakes followed by their creme brulee for dessert. I had a pear whiskey that was a cut above as well. The app was nice and tasty and well sized. The lamb was delish! The crab cakes were really good but lacked the wow factor the rest of meal had. The service was attentive and friendly and the prices were fair especially considering it's organic and well sourced. Overall, we'd go back for sure and would definitely recommend it to friends.
Took a few minutes for a waitor to come over, he wasn't wearing what everyone else was, and told me I couldn't make any amendments to my omelette because the kitchen was busy.. food was ok, nothing special. Bloody Mary was just eh.
This was really pre prison! Tour of east state penitentiary across as the street! Did not know that they changed to all brunch for Friday, sat,sun but was really happy they did. Great French toast and wife had grilled chicken salad. Staff very helpful. Also a few seats outside.
Great brunch options with something for everyone. Yummy and good presentation. Nice large outdoor area for nice days.
Slow service. Breakfast potatoes under cooked.
The new additions to the menu, as well as the specials provide even more options to diners. The service is always excellent, as all the staff are friendly and attentive from the moment you arrive. We enjoy the food at Fare and the price point for this neighbourhood gem is reasonable.
Eggs Benedict was awesome!
I made this reservation for the gluten free options-I was dining with a friend who has celiacs disease. She wanted something sweet so it would really be nice if they could add gluten free pancakes to their menu :)
Fare is a great restaurant for any occasion, good for dates and going out with your family. The food is amazing and the staff is very friendly. George was our waiter and he was the best
Excellent food and service
The hostess was bizarre, they seemed to be very fussy about where to seat us although they had plenty of open tables. They wanted us to sit outside but we didn't want to because it was damp and rainy, very odd. Once we got seated it took a rather long time to get our order. Aside from the weird service which didn't seem to be the norm, the food was good. Slightly more expensive than it should be but not bad.
This was our third visit to Fare, and we were not disappointed! I had the seafood pasta and my husband had the lamb chops. We were both thoroughly pleased with our choices - the food is delicious, prepared creatively, and service was excellent.
As usual, good food, good service. They easily accommodated my 3 yr old grandchild.
Indifferent hostesses and wait staff. Veggie omelette was excellent and the potatoes were well seasoned. Fruit plate presentation was unimpressive. The restaurant has a slow pace.
First time trying this place for brunch & I would definitely come back. Great food & perfect outside seating. They have a small menu for brunch so it isn't too overwhelming but it's pretty diverse as well. All in all, great experience.
We had an excellent meal at Fare. I had been there several times before. This time was the best. The menu i believe is a little more Greek-oriented than before. We shared flatbread, pita with various Greek dips, salad, and flank steak. everything was delicious. it was also quieter than i expected.
Love the food here. Modern decor restaurant across the street from Eastern State Penitentiary so it's great for a brunch spot in the Art Museum area.
The service was slightly slow but decent. When we sat down we were given nicely toasted bread with very good hummus. We both ordered the burger with the pastrami it was excellent. The menu on this site is different than the restaurant.
Excellent food. Four people in our party and we shared four apps plus four entres and everything was delicious. Simple yet sophisticated food, with emphasis on seafood. Very clean preparations, healthy, yet very delicious. Great beer and wine options as well.
Everything was good for my brunch except the potatoes which had mustard on it. It was a total turn off. I am a chef And I will try anything. This was not good.
I've been to Fare several times as I used to live in the neighborhood and it quickly became a favorite spot. I guess the menu has changed a little since I last went.
The eggs benedict used to be served on potato pancakes and now are serves on a brick of fried, shredded potatoes. While it was good, it was definitely an aggressive amount of potatoes and a little over-fried to the point it was hard to crack into.
The bloody mary was a little watery and used to come with bacon so that was missed.
All around it was a fine experience, but I was bummed to learn my favorite things about the menu were changed!
The first time we were there, we had an excellent meal and looked forward to returning. Two weeks later, the menu changed slightly and not really for the better. Two of the four of us had good meals but the other two had steaks that well extremely over cooked and basically inedible. The manager couldn't have been more apologetic and comped the two meals and two drinks and even offered a free dessert. I will still return in the future.
There's no question that this is one of the best restaurants in Fairmount. The food is very good, just the right amount of selection, the service always friendly and efficient, the surroundings, bar and restaurant, most attractive. But to enjoy and revel in all of this, go early. As the evening progresses, the noise level goes beyond comfort until by 9:00, guests at tables are literally screaming to be heard. This comment is based on four evenings at Fare.
Eggs Benedict came out hard-boiled and it took 10 minutes to get replacement eggs, hollandaise was devoid of flavor other than butter, service started off nice but deteriorated quickly. This was a Saturday at 2pm, 70% capacity in the restaurant which should be very doable for an experienced restaurant staff but was lost in Fare. If you're in the museum area and are just looking for something edible then this place is okay, just don't go in with huge expectations.
Been going here since it opened. Food keeps getting better and better-love it here.
Our first time there. They presented us with a $35 wine list, which had some great value wines available. The shrimp, and the mediterranean plate were fantastic appetizers. We had the crab cakes with avocado for our entree, and that did not disappoint either. Service was terrific, a very helpful and attentive waiter. Altogether, a great find.
Very comfortable, inclusive environment. Service was excellent and the food was fantastic. Reasonable prices! Will definitely come back here.
Fare has to be one the hidden gems of Philadelphia dining. The food is phenomenal and the ambiance is perfect.
Fare is a neighborhood favorite of ours that is consistently good. I think we or friends with us have eaten about everything on the menu, never a complaint.
Anything on the menu is delicious. Great service and ambience. I highly recommend this place
Food was great! And decent prices on craft beers
