Fare is a restaurant and wine bar located in the heart of the Art Museum area on Fairmount Avenue across from historic Eastern State Penitentiary and only a few blocks away from the Philadelphia Art Museum. Our cuisine can be described as clean, focusing on sustainable, local, organic, artisan ingredients with many seafood options. We also serve 10+ wines by the glass, as well as sustainable wines, 50+ craft beers and a novel cocktail menu. This restaurant was built with eco-friendly materials throughout.

Three of us went out for a long deferred brunch. The service was delightful: pleasant, accurate and quick without being rushed. I had the meat omelette of the day which was piping hot and cooked all the way through without being burnt. My friends had the eggs Benedict and the breakfast burrito. Both were also excellent. We shared a lovely French red which was a delicious accompaniment for our meal.
From the second we walked through the door we did not feel welcome. We were the only ones there and they made a comment about “oh there’s people here” like they were annoyed that they had to stop sitting around. We were checked on very much and our questions were barely answered. We had an issue with something and we basically had to beg them to find out about our entree.
Love Fare, expecially those Fare chips! inventive dishes and familiar ones, all beautifully prepared. Nice portions. Nice people. Not too noisy to enjoy the conversation. A real gem. The menu changes seasonally. each season there has been one new dish I've fallen in love with.
The food was bland. The service was not very accommodating either. The server was rude about a question I asked on the menu. When I asked for a table outside in the sun, to be warm, he said there weren't any. The menu was different from the one on their website, that offered more options.
Went to Fare for dinner before heading over to Terror Behind the Walls. We were just looking for the closet place that would take reservations and stumbled upon this gem. I had the crispy tuna roll which was the best sushi roll I've had since I left San Francisco. I ate it so fast my boyfriend asked if I unhinged my jaw and swallowed it whole. He had truffle fries as an appetizer. They were soooo good. Loaded with parmesan cheese and truffle oil. I kept stealing them. For dinner he had the shrimp flat bread which I did not try because of chorizo but he enjoyed it and it smelled great. I had the shrimp salad. I thought it was going to have those little salad shrimp mixed in but it had three huge spicy tiger prawns on top. They were amazing. I could of just eaten a plate of those suckers. We finished the night off with pumpkin crème brulee and apple cranberry crisp. Both were delicious. We left stuffed to the gills but happy and looking forward to returning. Yum! Love this place.
FARE is a good place, but not a special or extraordinary one. Food is good, service is attentive and the bar is well-organized. But there are many more of equal quality in that part of Philly, so while I wouldn't say "don't go there", the best I can do is "If you're in the neighborhood, it's fine, but don't go out of your way to go there."
Enjoyed the side porch which they covered when it started to drizzle. Great place to eat tasty and healthful food. I thought the Branzino, beet salad, and octopus were all terrific. I didn't like the crab cakes much but my spouse did. Coffee tasted like it had been sitting awhile. Excellent quick service, but we were there at at early hour.
Fare was a find!! I just saw it in Open Table & people all gave it good reviews. Our server, Danielle was one of the best servers I ever had!! Amazingly attentive, friendly and we didn't want for a thing!! The only thing about the food that my friend had to complain about is one of her chicken breasts was dry so Danielle promptly insisted on the chef cooking her up another one and then boxed it for her to carry home. I had a fish special called Kona Kampachi & it was delicious!! Would def. recommend this place to everyone!!
My husband and I stopped for an early dinner before heading out to a concert. The outdoor dining was perfect and the service was good. My appetizer was the cold Spanish soup - ajo blanco. It was delicious. My husband had the flatbread pizza with cheese, apples, crumbled bacon and drizzled with maple syrup. It was scrumptious. Both of our entrees were delicious but we were especially were taken by the unusual and exceptional appetizers. We will definitely return to this neighborhood gem.
We arrived and were seated outside in the shade. Great service from Vern. We ordered a Cheese and Meat Board for the table and thank goodness we did. We had drinks and the Cheese Board and waited about a half hour for entrees.
The waiter apologized for the delay twice and brought us raw tuna....which no one wanted to try, but it was a nice gesture.
Food finally came out and at 9pm it was too late for dessert so we paid the check and left. Food was good, drinks were good. We will be back.
