Fun evening, very accommodating and attentive wait staff Loved your happy hour picks and our wine as well
Will return again. I’ve also been for brunch. Also wonderful
Worse service I have ever had in Philadelphia- waitress couldn’t care less. We wanted to walk out.
good food but service was slower than I had hoped. for example, my tea arrived after my dessert was eaten. this was the theme for each food item and request.
The place was packed last night even when we left at 9:30. Great lamb chops on the special menu. We all enjoyed our meal and our wine. Nice that we can still dine outside.
Happy hour food and drinks are great
great food and lovely ambiance. crab cakes are amazing1
Terrible service. Subpar food for a high price. Hostess was rude. I will not return here.
Had a nice brunch on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Service was great. Food can fast and was delicious
food took so long to come out, server didn’t check on us once
Biggest issue: we waited over an hour to get served our meal (the drinks did come quickly) even though others around us were getting served, even if they arrived after us. We had to flag down our server to get our food (not easy--I suspect they were understaffed). We ate in the patio, which has a great view of the Eastern State Penitentiary but it's just a concrete courtyard, so nothing special. The food was OK--we liked the crabcakes and flank steak, but they were nothing exceptional and the sides were pretty meh. Not planning on returning.
I never write reviews but I had the absolute worst experience at this restaurant on Saturday. My boyfriend and I had reservations at 6:45. We got there on time and ordered our meals by 7pm. 730 rolls around and we have not been checked on once. Finally at 740 we ask the hostess to see if she can get an update on our food. We let her know that we were on a time crunch and had to be somewhere by 8pm.
Our waiter doesn’t end up coming over to us until closer 750 and said our food still wasn’t ready yet. My boyfriend ordered the chicken breast which apparently takes 45+ minutes to make…since when does it take that long to make a chicken breast!?). Regardless, had we been told this up front then we would have selected a different option. Also I ordered a flatbread and fries which should have been out within 15 minutes.
So again, it is now over an hour into our reservation and the server finally comes to check on us after we had to ask for him multiple times. We apologize and let him know that we are more than happy to pay for our drinks and give him a nice tip. But, at this point we have an event we have to go to and can’t wait any longer. He then proceeds to tell us to get up and leave. We are caught off guard and told him again we wanted to pay for the drinks and compensate him but he said no just get up and leave… NOW. We were honestly shocked and felt extremely disrespected.
Important to mention that they were unstaffed and taking a bunch of walk ups that night that they shouldn’t have if they couldn’t even manage the tables who had reservations.
I was very disappointed since I was so excited to try Fare but would NEVER EVER go back again. I have lived in the city for over 10 years and no “high end” or actually any restaurant in Philly has come close to this bad of service!
Fist let me say, I’ve been here many many times before…. And what I find is that the experience is waning more & more each time I go. We first sat inside cause it’s chilly outside at night. Well it was freezing inside cause they had their AC on & I guess they couldn’t adjust it??? So outside has no heat lamps. Ok, whatever.
But my dinner was not good, my roasted potatoes were cold & old… my fish tocos were very salty. I got a new batch of potatoes, slightly warmer. But it was about 9:30-10:00 so I presume they were closing soon so the thought of sending the tocos back scared me slightly… so we took our food to go. My friend’s chicken was no better. I’m heating my leftovers for breakfast, hoping the salt would dissipate… no such luck. I don’t know what’s happening to Fare but they should buck up & do better… a very disappointing late nite ‘fare’.
Octopus was delicious and tender. Crabs cakes were moist and the drinks were tasty
The food was ok, but our service was really bad and the waitress was far from personable or even remotely nice. We even noted there was a birthday in our party and we asked to bring dessert out and they forgot to acknowledge or even attempt to do that. Just bad bad oversight and details. Almost all the servers were just not friendly.
Our dinner was, per usual, terrific. Loved our waiter - he was friendly, professional, and quick! The food was delicious - one tuna tartare, one burger. And the drinks were great - dirty martini, pino noir [but kudos on stocking Liberty School!]
It is our go-to spot for early and late dinners, as well as brunch.
Fare is a great spot for drinks, a nice bite to eat and a chill ambiance
I live in the neighborhood so FARE is my go to for a nice Happy Hour. I think the manager has excellent customer service skills. The prices are great, service always friendly. As a matter of fact, I have plans to go to FARE three times this week.
I like the outside dining options. It was a little bit noisy on my last visit, but just what was happening in the neighborhood and not the fault of the restaurant!!
Great food! Good portions and even a kids menu!
Service was so poor. Almost an hour an a half before we got our food after we ordered. Server never came over to check on us or the food. Has to even ask for silverware and right amount of water glasses for the table. Good food but not worth the hassle!
Food was good; three diners had mussels which were delicious. Outdoor space on the side was very basic, not particularly attractive or comfortable. Service was ok, except when paying for the check, we wanted to split it 50/25/25 (one couple, 2 single diners) with 3 different credit cards and the server said: "Lets not make this complicated" and would only split it equally! Seriously?!?!?! Would be reluctant to go back.
The appetizers were very good. The flatbread pizza was unique, it was on the sweet side. The truffle fries are great and the zucchini chips were quite good. However my bronzino was ok.
We sat outside and the space was great! We will go back.
So great to be able to get excellent food, drink, and service safely outside. We shared a number of appetizers from the Flatbreads to the soft shelled crab. Everything was delicious. Fare carries Chimay, a lovely Belgian style ale, so I was delighted.
The Fare always does a very good job with the food. We take our daughters from Temple University there on weekends to see them and hang out and have a good time and have healthy and satisfying meal. I strongly recommend this restaurant.
Overall experience was good. Ordered a burger medium rare, it came medium well. I wasn’t too concerned but the burger had no flavor. The pastrami is a nice touch but didn’t make up for the flavorless burger. At $20 it should be a good burger.
Our server was excellent! The food was delicious and the ambiance was on point. The perfect experience, right? Wrong.
The only reason why I didn't give the experience a perfect score is because we had to fight so many FLIES in our initial seating area. It was crazy - fighting to eat your food. BUT once we were moved to a different section, it was much better. 🥰
Nice ambience. Poor service- server was not very friendly. Average food.
Fare is a go-to restaurant for us - always tasty and always reliable. We had a delicious brunch.
Awesome atmosphere, food and service.
Special softshell crab salad/app was fabulous.
We shared the clam/mussels/sausage seafood in broth again--it is excellent & enough for 2 unless you're starving.
Short wine list but nice choices.
Fare is always a great choice! Food is terrific, service is great and moderately priced. The outside dining area just makes this place extra special!
Food was very good, although presentation could be improved. Serving/plated looked very basic, cafeteria style. Waitress was clearly unhappy & lacked interaction until we mentioned to the hostess that the service was terrible. Hostess lacked attentiveness as well. Disappointing experience after a colleague highly recommended.
Food is OK. Kind of bland. I wish there were more side options.
The server was great - it was the time it took to get our meals as they were “backed-up”
Food was good , service could improve..
Fish tacos were excellent!
Food was excellent. Nice menu. Neighborhood gem.
This is a solid neighborhood choice. We sat outside which meant occasionally car noise/engine revving, but otherwise was quiet. Lots of food options for all types of eaters.
Mostly good food but seriously bad service. Even after telling server by my husband that it was his Birthday, she did not say HappyBirthday. And we arrived shortly after 7:00 and the new trainee server offered us the Happy Hour appetizers but then came back and told us she made a mistake and couldn't do Happy hour prices. Not very accommodating.
Phenomenal brunch friendly service at a great value with superb food. Your avocado toast is the best I have ever eaten fish tacos were wonderful too. And you have great coffee. We will be bs k fir sure!
