Far Western Tavern
Our restaurant is recognized as a landmark of Santa Maria Style Barbecue, a renowned regional fare rooted in native ingredients and methods that were first popularized by 19th century rancheros.
Our menu blends this local barbecue style with other dishes that reflect our family’s heritage in the Santa Maria Valley’s Swiss-Italian ranching community, all prepared with fresh flavors from nearby farms, ranches and vineyards.
We had not been to the far Western Tavern since it moved to Orcutt from Guadalupe. Was pleasantly surprised food was good I had fillet mignon my husband had try tip and we definitely will be coming back. I had two oldl fashions kind of got to me. Oh well you only live once
Wonderful filet mignon at reopened Far Western. Excellent service and ambiance, good cocktails. Always a great choice for steak and seafood.
Rodolfo was our server and gave us great service. We had arrived a bit early but the hostess found us a table right away which was great. My wife and I enjoyed the amount of space they had made due to new regulations which really made our experience more intimate. The food was very well prepared and the portions were great! Steak was made at the perfect temperature and the flavor on everything was delicious. Definitely coming back!
Excellent service and food.
Carlos took good care of us. Food came as ordered. Nice to dine inside again.
My husband and I had the Filets. They were melt in your mouth tender . Everything was seasoned to perfection. Enjoyed our night out.
It took a while to get our food . The service was great. I knew it was pricey but. The quality of the food was excellent.
A fabulous evening with our family, delicious food and fabulous service! Thank you for making our night extra special!
Best steak I have ever had. Service was above and beyond.
Felt safe in outdoor patio. Delicious food. Waiter wore mask
It was a real nice dinner everything was perfect waitress and waiter we're perfect had a great time highly recommended will return soon
Great ribeye, tri-tip, and prime rib.
Far Western Tavern was the last restaurant we dined out early March before the COVID-19 shutdown; Far Western Tavern was the first restaurant we dined out since raising the the dining restriction.
Very satisfied with our Birthday Dinner, Very attentive staff and the food was great.
We came here for our 50th wedding anniversary because a planned cruise had been cancelled due to Covid. The booths are nice and big, tall wood & glass separation, so with them just opening restaurants recently, it was nice. We ordered a cocktail to celebrate, and we were not rushed. We had an appetizer that was delicious (prosciotto wrapped cheese-stuffed jalapenos), took our time with that. We both ordered the steak & lobster, and it was delicious--beef was cooked just perfectly. Our meal included a shrimp cocktail, choice of soup or salad, choice of potatoes or grilled veggies, and the main course. Since it was our anniversary, they brought us "on the house" a peach cobbler sort of dessert that was also delicious. Like I said, the spacing between courses was just right to enjoy, not too crowded (maybe because of just opening up recently), and for all the food we had, it was a good value. We will definitely come here again because they have an appetizer of mac & cheese stuffed into a poblano pepper that we're anxious to try.
Best steak in the world
Great food, great experience!
Service and food ecxellent.
Were seated in a timely manner, hostesses and food runners very enthusiastic and attentive.
Great wine selection. Tri tip had a very good char and the ribs were tender, and came off the bone with minimal effort.
Definitely get the steak skewers - flavorful and tender.
Amazing as always!
It was a great experience and the ribeye was the best I have ever had.
Amazing food. Zach was our busser and Rudy our waiter. Both attentive and wonderful!
This was our annual get together for Silver Foxes bowling club. Our group has dinner here every year, love the food and atmosphere.
Things were very different with what is going on in our county right now and I felt like the staff went above and beyond to make everything feel normal!!
Rudy took great care to make sure we enjoyed our experience. His pace was awesome and anticipation on point
Wasn't very crowded at 5:45 on a weekday. Might be the virus, though. Quiet enough for seniors to talk and be heard! The 'special' of the month was appealing and it was even better in flavor - the tri-tip tasted better than when I grill one. What did they add? Perhaps smoke? It was great. And the chili relleno was very good also, though I prefer it stuffed with shredded meat AND cheese (hard to find).
The service was well above average - nearly ideal. Friendly, fast, courteous and good at explaining specials, etc. Should have gotten her name - well worth repeating.
Food order was precise. Tasty and well presented. Timeliness of service was very good. Wine selection good with something for all of our party. Comfortable seating with noise level at a level that was good for conversation. Great place for hungry appetites providing a varied selection. Would recommend this place for romantic and celebratory events. Each time we come to California this is a must do stop. Look forward to our next experience.
Food not edible--salted so much that no one at table could eat it. When asked for help, server was not helpful--did nothing and acted like we had the problem. Three words for the experience: unhelpful, over-priced, inedible. Very disappointing--
Great food, love the ambiance.
Nice change of pace brunch menu. Very generous portions of well prepared food.
We were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. Our waiter was attentive and helpful, the food fabulous. We enjoyed a wonderful French white burgundy that was truly worth the price. The atmosphere is comfortable and quaint. I highly recommend the Far Western for a private dining experience.
I loved the ambiance and everything about the far western. Especially the Creme Brulle. My lobster did turn out to be extremely undercooked but I wouldnt judge them based on one mistake. The restaurant was pretty busy and I understand.
Nice atmosphere and great service
The baked potato was hard and the ribs were tough. So disappointed to return to this restaurant with a fine reputation and be underwhelmed.
The wedge salad was.much improved. Thanks, Marna. The pork chop is really good one of the best in the area.
Other than finding a hair attached to a bone in the rack of ribs my wife ordered, the food was very good. We knew going in the price is moderately high, but the quality matches the price.
Enjoyed the 2020 baby back deal. Always enjoy our experience at Far Western.
Great all around!
Service was extremely slow. It took 50 minutes for our food to be brought to our table. The restaurant was less than one-third full. The food was very good, except for the bread on my BLAT. It was over-toasted and extremely hard. I couldn't bite through it. The servers disappeared and were mostly unavailable. It was a shame as I have always enjoyed meals here.
I celebrated my birthday dinner here and it was the best steak meal I’ve had better than lucky’s in montecito! My ribeye was so tender juicy and flavorful that I finished every last bite! It was cooked exactly the way I like my steak -lightly seasoned not salty , not charred and not dry!! I love the shrimp cocktail and the fresh garden salad!
My husband loved his filet mignon and it went perfect with our red wine!! The special birthday cake was a personal touch to the evening and our waitress delivered the best customer service!
