We ate here about a year ago and it was excellent. This time, not so much. Service was slow. We were a party of 4 and the relish tray would at best serve a party of 2. Bread was tiny. The food was good but nothing spectacular. Cappuccino at end of meal was luke warm. Indicated through open table that it was a birthday celebration but was not acknowledged.

We had a wonderful time! Our waiter, Brian was very attentive. Our friends were impressed as they had heard that the food was not that great. We met the chef who was delightful. The food was topnotch! And being a Sunday night, i thought it would be quiet but quite the opposite. There seemed to be a festive air, people enjoying their dining in a pleasant way. Fixed menu on Sundays which i was not aware of but the choices were amazing and more than enough to eat family style! I can't wait to go again.

This was my second time having dinner in less than two months and I was not disappointed...again! Had the signature ribeye and it was grilled to perfection and seasoned deliciously! Would have loved to try the special “Tomahawk Chop” but I had to get back on the road. Errol, our server, was friendly, polite and attentive. Had a chance to visit with GM Marna again and what a wonderful person. Though I’m a San Diego native, she makes you feel welcomed, like I’m a local. So glad I stopped by to eat and look so forward to another stop! Far Western gets 5 Stars!!!

The Christmas decor, warm toned woods, and classic “ranch” charm, sets the perfect backdrop for any gathering with friends, business meetings, family dinner, or a special occasion. Chef Maile Halme is a great addition to this landmark. Her passion for food, history and tradition is brought to life at the Far Western Tavern.

My mother in law took us for our 41st wedding anniversary. It was super except one thing .They had the 6 oz filet I had the 12 oz filet,with the lobster tail. I was asked how I would like my steak, I said Rare. What I got was a $51 steak closer to medium than med rare. But I had asked for rare. This is the first time I’ve been to the Far Western that I didn’t get a perfectly prepared steak. I didn’t make an issue with it as my mother in law was paying and I didn’t want her knowing my anniversary dinner she was paying for was not the normal great Far Western steak. The rest of the meal as I said was super the lobster,the other steaks the sides. So were I normally give Five stars I could only go four.

We stopped here on our way to Cambria, for a late lunch.
EXCELLENT food, we had two types of burgers, a soup and salad Anya glass of wine.
Friendly service, professional as well., casual atmosphere, quiet and pristine clean restaurant.
Highly recommend it if you are in the area.
Excellent coffee.

First time we had dinner here since they moved to their new location. This place did not disappoint! Everyone from the hostesses, bartender, servers were so friendly and attentive. Even had the chef stop by our table to check on us. Our drinks and entrees were prepared to perfection. The dessert menu looked good but we were too full to order. The only negative was the price of a glass of house wine; too high for the quality. We will be back!

This is beyond question one of the better restaurants in the area. The food is really good. So is the service. Nice, quiet atmosphere. I definitely recommend it!

Traditional Santa Maria BBQ in a pleasant atmosphere. They have a nice variety of choices in their menu, however I prefer the steaks.

Love this place! Always enjoyable with great food. Steaks done to perfection. Our waiter was excellent, attentive but not intrusive. The lemon dessert was delicious and with a great presentation.

The steak was exactly what we wanted. Coming from Washington DC, this restaurant is comparable to the best East Coast steakhouses. Chef Maili went to college at George Washington. in DC. She checked on every guest to make sure dinner was fine. The only negative is the clam chowder- they can do better.
We plan to return and bring guests and family.

This was a first for us and it did not disappoint. What a wonderful place to dine at. Everything was delicious and exceeded our expectations. Well seasoned steaks and tasty soup and salads. Table service was constant from all the staff, and our server Kelsey was on the job, checking on us regularly and making sure everything was to our liking. We had an opportunity to meet general manager Marna and she was the tip top: friendly, caring about our meal preparation and open to comments about our experience at the Far Western. Not seen very much this day and age in the restaurant scene.
I strongly recommend this fine establishment for dinner and look forward to enjoying another wonderful meal there in my travels through the area again. BTW, Marna recommended the apple galette for dessert and was she on the money with this. This has to be one of the most delicious (and addictive) desserts I have EVER tasted!!! Thank you for the dessert!!!!

No vegetarian menu. The shrimp cocktail stated prawns but it was actually a handful of the smallest shrimp there are, no prawns! The noise level was moderate. We were celebrating a Birthday. Our booth seat was nice but could still hear the TV at the bar. The other three in my group enjoyed their food along with the yummy desserts. Ooh waiter was outstanding. Thank you.

This is one of the BEST steaks i have ever had and I have eaten at most of the best steak restaurants in Los Angeles. This is by far the BEST. The service was second to none. The chef came out and apologized for not having one of the items we ordered. She brought us out the most delicious cornbread fritters we have ever eaten.
The hostess was fantastic. she answered all our questions about the history of the restaurant and surrounding areas.
At the conclusion of our dinner, the waiter brought us out an apple tart with ice cream as a thank you for being so understanding about not having the item we originally requested.
I would highly recommend this restaurant to anybody wants to enjoy excellent food, beautiful atmosphere and a very attentive wait staff. All I can say is THANK YOU, THANK YOU,THANK YOU.

Seriously, stop searching and come here! This had to be one of the best meals of my life. The filet I had, definitely was the best I've ever had! We came here to treat our son to a "last meal", before dropping him off at UCSB the next day. He said it was the best meal of his life. This restaurant is elegant, the staff is awesome and the food is amazing. Tons of food too. Not cheap, but well worth it!

Food was good but way overpriced. Nothing negative other than this place is nothing special but they put a large price tag on everything from drinks to steaks.

I was looking for a nice place to meet with clients for lunch and the Far Western provided a nice environment to spend a leisurely lunch. The clients relaxed with a Grey Goose cocktail and enjoyed the French Dip sandwich. I certainly look forward to making another trip to Orcutt to dine at the Far Western.

We traveled to the area specifically for dinner at the Tavern (3 hours) In addition to the great food, we enjoy the style of service/ambiance. Not many great steakhouses left from the past. Our waitress, Jean made the experience great. She was personable and enjoyable while also providing great service.

Loved it. Will tell everyone about it! The food was amazing. Weather was wonderful too since we come from the hot valley. We would come again. And the woodwork in the bar took your breath away.

I used to live in the area, and was returning with friends. I wanted them to taste authentic Santa Maria style barbecue. The Far Western did not disappoint! The food was delicious and the desserts were to die for . I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Our waiter was somewhat brasque; not friendly. We had three order of steaks: one med well and two med rare. They all came out med well which we suspect were the waiters mistake. We did get steaks prepared correctly for take home.
So of our party of four we had two satisfied diners. The food is pricey which would not be a problem if the service matched the price.

I love this place. It traveled very well from Guadelupe. A destination for my wife and me when we travel to the Central Coast. Food was great and service and consideration for my disabled wife was much appreciated.

Far Western is far and has stiff competition from places like the Hitching Post II, AJ Spurs, and Jacko's. It's a charming place, but they'll need to bring it up a notch and be more creative if they're going to keep up with the competition or even be in the same league.

The food was good but extremely over priced. The service was fair. Our guest sent her drink back twice before she went and spoke with the bartender and ended up getting a totally different drink than the greyhound she wanted. Chocolate tres leches cake was dry.

Excellent food and service in a rustic western setting. The steak was tender and seasoned perfectly (with their house seasoning blend), and the salad was fresh, not the basic greens found in many restaurants.

I've eaten dinner here before, but this was the first and last time I would go for lunch.
The service was horrible. We had to flag down a waitress only to be told she was not our server. When we received our meals we had to ask for tobasco, dressing & ketchup 3 times before we received them.
The food was even more disappointing. Two of us had chicken sandwiches that came on soggy greasy bread. The Caesar salad was so wilted it should have been thrown out instead of being served.
Make a different choice for lunch!

I had very high expectations because I not only ate at the Guadalupe Far Western Tavern but worked there as well. I was afraid to ruin that great image and memory I had. I was not dissapointed in anyway. The food was great and the experience was exceptional. Server was very attentive and professional.

Alot of kid noise. Due to a mix up in service, our dinner was delayed; that was ok however, we had a pleasant relaxed time. There was no prodding from the waiters to hurry; and they were very attendant to ensure we had everything we desired. Good job!

The waiter we had was VERY outgoing and cordial. Couldn't have been nicer! I'd be giving him a strong five stars, but for delay in our receiving our check after we were done. Well, also that our drinks weren't as attended to as well as they could've been. I'm making strictly a guess that the delay in our getting our check was possibly done so as not to leave any impression that we were being rushed out; I don't know. But he was darned good!

I would and do highly recommend the Far Western Tavern, beyond question!

As always, our food was great! Despite it being a busy night for the Tuesday Special, Rodolfo, our server, had a great personality, was calm under pressure, and attentive.
