Maybe the best steaks in the US. Bbq’d with oak using a Santa Maria grill. Extremely well seasoned and the men cooking the meats are experienced. The side of charra beans are perfect for a side. Last time I ate here was 30 years ago when located in Guadeloupe, yet the move to Orcutt has not changed the quality. Highly recommended

My husband and I took my mother to enjoy Mother's Day brunch at FWT. Although it was full, everything was quiet and well organized. The service was wonderful and it is always a treat to see Britany. We all pigged-out and enjoyed ourselves completely.

I was terribly disappointed in the food. I ordered a Steak San. because it was "The Far Western" but it came as a poor piece of pounded meat that was tough & stringy between 2 pieces of Bread which was the best part. Salad was OK & the Beans & Salsa were good. Service was good & polite. Probably will not be back. Sorry !

Wonderful food! Beautiful place and atmosphere. Our waiter was new to the trade so service was a little spotty. But hey...we all gotta start somewhere. He was very nice, just not up to par.

I've been going to Far Western Tavern for 10 years. It's a steakhouse. So if you or your partner don't want meat, go elsewhere. The steaks are very pricey and good. The service is hit or miss. The desserts are always great. The beer and wine selection is good. Plan to drop two C-notes if you're on a date. For my money, Jockos in Nipomo is the best option in the area.

It was super quiet on a Wednesday night, but the staff was very personable and professional and the food was great! I had not been to the Far Western since I was a kid and it was at it's old location. The quality of the food lived up to the expectations I had. Good Stuff!

Birthday dinner reservation was made yet we didn’t get served until over 90 minutes later. Food was cold and too salty to consume. I mentioned that since we never got the appetizers we ordered I wanted them removed from the bill; waitress acted like she was doing us a favor by removing them from the bill. Management thought offering desert was an amicable solution. We didn’t stay for that as enough of our time was wasted; paid the outrageous bill and will never go back!

We were visiting from AZ & took the daughter & hubby out since they have never been there. We had a reservation for 5 PM. We all ordered before 515 PM. Our drinks, appetizers & salads came out right away. We ended up sitting for another 1hr 15 mins to get our main dishes. I called our waiter over 2x's to ask what the problem & delay was. Each time it was..... they are working on it now. When the Cowboy 8oz & Filet Mignon 6 Oz steaks came, the cooking temps for each was reversed. Actually the Cowboy steak was overdone & tough. Since we had waited so long, he decided to not send it back & just eat it, which was a mistake I thought. I did voice our concerns w/ the mixup to our waiter. I felt that we should have been given some kind of comp for the cooking mixup & the extremely long wait time. Instead we were given 2 desserts........ I think if we return again on another trip, we would come on a Mon - Thurs night to avoid the long service wait times on the weekends. Our wives enjoyed the hamburger & pork chop that they ordered. The kids wanted to go to the Hitching Post or A J Spurs, they are at least very consistent w/ the food & service. Not the best experience that we have had, especially when spending $275.

Went there for dinner with my wife. I got the new york special for the night .my wife got half chicken over oak bbq pit. Chicken was amazing. Very good steak cooked medium and just tasty.sides we got clam chowder, beans, bread, cabbage wedge over oak bbq pit very good. I recommend it having dinner here.

Love this place, use to visit original location in Guadalupe when I was a child. The food is delicious, the wait staff friendly and the atmosphere and decor is beautiful. On this particular occasion the only issue I had was that the regular menu was not available and I was not informed when I made my reservation. I had my palate all set for rack of lamb but it was a holiday so I understand and they are forgiven!

This was our New Years Eve dinner. Great food, beautiful restaurant, wonderful service. It is a steak house but also had fish and vegetarian option. I don’t eat meat and my meal was wonderful. My husband had prime rib and was totally happy. We had a fabulous dinner.

We went to the far Western 4 our son-in-law birthday. My daughter and son-in-law loved the wine and the food. The food was delicious, and we were able to visit very comfortably. It was a great evening for my family.

Having visited Far Western quite a bit when it was in Guadalupe, it was a treat to dine at Far Western in Orcutt and bring some close relatives who had not been here yet especially to a Christmas Eve brunch. We all enjoyed our meals from the sweetbreads, chicken fried steak, thick bacon, linguica, stuffed French toast and of course the warm bread box with jam! Delicious and enjoyable dining.

I booked a reservation for a 20th Anniversary. No one asked if we were celebrating an event or just dining out. Our waiter, whom I had difficulty understanding due to his extremely thick accent, took our drink order ( Bloody Mary and two waters with lemon) took 15 minutes and he forgot the lemon. He completely forgot. I had to stop him in his tracks before I reminded him he had forgotten my lemon. I didn't want to wait any longer and told the waiter we wanted to order. Lord have mercy, this waiter had trouble understanding me as much I him. Ugh. After that, Another 20 minutes went by before a different waiter approached and stated he comped our appetizer because we had waited quite a length of timeand didn't have either our appetizer nor salads. Another 15 minutes passed before the salads were brought out and although delicious, it wasn't chopped up. Whole leaves were piled up with toppings and dressing kinda weird. I ordered the porkchop , which was delicious. However I had difficulty slicing meat off with the butter knife. I believe a steak knife would be more appropriate and useful. My husband ordered the chicken fried steak. Both yummy. The check was over $90 plus tip, which was a little high. Although this is a beautiful restaurant, . I dunno folks big don't have a desire to return

We love Far Western for its equestrian chic decor and Santa Maria style grilled meats. However, the last couple of times there, the waiter has forgotten our order.

This last time, the waiter brought my husband’s starters but forgot mine. Mike was finished when I got mine., after the waiter was reminded of the order.

So the waiter brought bread for Mike while I worked on my appetizer. But he was told Mike can’t have dairy. They brought him buttered bread, which he could not eat.

When the main course came, the meat was overly done. I ordered a medium rare and got medium well. Mike ordered medium and got medium well. The meat was tasty, but dry. At $35 a plate, I want what I order...

We still enjoyed our time there, as we always do... but, just because it’s busy is no excuse to botch the order. This is not the first time. Someone needs to look at the dining experience as a whole. Guests want to enjoy appetizers all together. They want their meat prepared as ordered. They want wait staff to remember food limitations once they’ve been mentioned so that guests don’t feel like a burden, having to constantly remind them.

We were celebrating my husbands birthday. We were pleased with the menu and the food was outstanding. The service was excellent even though they were quite busy with the holidays.
Everyone was very attentive and we culd not have asked for better service.

Number one on my favorites list. Bring back the breadsticks!!!! My steak is always cooked just the way I like it. Great salad dressing. My only complaint would be the bread served with dinner. Not the best. Love the decor and we eat dinner there at least once a month and usually bring friends. Appreciate the Costco gift cards also. Was just there with friends two nights ago. Have not been there for lunch.

We had reservations for 5:30 pm. Relatively early. Didn't get our table til 5:45. Ordered drinks and they came about 15 minutes later. Ordered dinner around 6:03 pm. Nothing particularly out of the ordinary. Had 3 kids under the age of 10. One ordered off the adult menu. 3 other adults present. About 6:50 pm, the waiter said that they ruined the gravy and would have to make it again. About 7:13, we were finally served. The waiter brought out bread and beans. I wondered why this couldn't have been brought out earlier, especially for the kids. Most meals were ok. The hamburger ordered medium rare was well done and cold. Not good. The bill was $169.00 for 3 kids and 3 adults, plus tip. The steak sandwich was apparently excellent. The décor was lovely. Nicely decorated for Christmas. High end.

My wife and I were there for the Veterans Day event (I am a veteran) and, even though we had reservations, it still took us 20 minutes to be seated, and ANOTHER HOUR and FIFTEEN MINUTES TO HAVE OUR MEALS SERVED! Our waiter told us he "had no control over the kitchen", and although he told us he had checked several times, it still took a very long time to be served. Several other guests who arrived well after us, in one case more than 1/2 hour after our being seated, were served an finished their meal and left. I seriously doubt that we will go back to the Far Western anytime soon - if ever.
