Dinner: Daily: 5:00pm - 10:00pm
2. Nearest Parking Lots: There are 2 lots available within half a block from our restaurant. One is located on Minna Street between 3rd Street and New Montgomery. The other is located directly across from Fang with entrances located on Howard Street between 3rd Street and New Montgomery as well as an entrance on 3rd Street between Folsom and Howard Street .
I have had the pleasure of dining with Peter at the House of Nan King.
This meal was yet another wonderful culinary experience. The staff is always attentive, and Peter is always on top of the food coming out of the kitchen. The Fang family has always shown a passion for food, and this meal was spot on delicious. I would highly recommend it to any and all.
Thanks Peter and staff for the hospitality, and great food.
I was amazed to be waited on my a Chopped Champion! Kathy Fang recommended an amazing meal thatbwas low carb. Tasted great, reasonably priced. Well worth the visit on my first night ever in San Francisco.
Sizzling rice soup lukewarm and coconut flavored
Crispy ribs greasy fat flavor with all spice flavor
We loved the way the owner/chef volunteered to provide us the best of his fare by suggesting we surrender to his expertise and talents and allow him to make a special meal for us. We let go of controlling the menu and let him do his thing. It worked great and we had a fabulous meal, well balanced, wonderful complimentary tastes yet contrasting to the point of being a complete and wonderful meal. We will go again and do the same thing as he engendered in us a level of trust that would ensure a great meal the next time.
Great service and good food
great food but the service is lacking. Too bad as it sets a poor impression for what is a great meal. Apparently the 'boss' (owner) wants to take everyone's order, which is great, in concept.
Bustling spot that combines traditional Chinese restaurant features such as large tables diners that share with other diners and family style large plates. Excellent food and if you let the server choose your food, it's extra fun. I was treated so I don't know what the bill was - my guess is it's pricier when they bring what they choose.
We have been here several times since moving to the Bay Area with both small and large groups of individuals ranging in all ages. I cannot tell you specifically what the menu holds as we always get what the chef is cooking along with some steamed buns. With the chef menu, you are going to get a well rounded meal that allows you to taste some of the best of the menu. If there are allergies to foods or preferences, you simply let them know and they accommodate, even some of the toughest ones. Everything is fresh served family style and we leave full, yet wanting more of the deliciousness.
Some of the food was really good, but the noodles were not the right ones. They used curly Italian imitation cheap noodles.
Also, after you cross a certain price line, you have to use cloth napkins and not flimsy paper ones!
Fantastic! Owner came to our table . Asked what foods we like and surprised us with delicious dishes. Something that we would never have ordered ourselves off the menu! It was very delicious. And service was impeccable. Would definitely go back.
I went to Fang once five years ago while on a business trip to San Francisco and I've raved about it to everyone since. When my wife and I were visiting last weekend we had to go, and we weren't disappointed. The food is outstanding. We weren't sure what to choose so we asked the chef to decide for us. We got four dishes that were unique and delicious. Best Chinese food I've had since my last visit to Fujian. The staff is also great. One of my favorite spots to eat in the world. More Fang.
Had the best time and an incredible tour of dishes selected by Mr. Fang! From the fava beans to apple shrimp to spare rips to sesame chicken to flavorful fish and noodles. Absolutely delicious!
Food was great and Chef make time to meet us and serve his favorite dishes. Great experience.
Saturday afternoon at SFMOMA, and decided to visit this rates restaurant. Was surprised when our crispy pork belly wasn’t crispy at all. Maybe it was an off day for them.
Service was extremely slow, client had to leave the table before the check came because the waiter forgot about us after the food came out
Great huge family style portions of the most delicious dishes I ever tasted n a Chinese restaurant
The food was delicious and the service was prompt and friendly. Easy to make reservations on the website
Fang is one of my favorite Chinese restaurants. The food is reasonably authentic - certainly more so than in the average Chinese restaurant. And it is very good.
Mr. Fang owns House of Nankai in Chinatown, which has excellent food and horrible atmosphere. His daughter runs Fang. It has the same food in a much more comfortable setting.
We had a wonderful time celebrating Father's Day at FANG! The food was amazing and the servers were all very nice and cheerful as well. I have already started recommending this restaurant to my friends.
Father’s Day lunch!
Food was great however service was less than desirable. If not for the food, I would not recommend this place. Server was late and had to be reminded we were still waiting to place the order. Was grumpy throughout the time. But food came on time and was really tasty.
We went bc owner won Chopped! What a disappointment. They brought out 2 dishes that were not what we ordered & weren't bothered by it. No apologies. The food is really sub-par, like a below average Chunese take out place. Certainly not what we expected from someone who won Chopped! Will never go back.
We made reservations at FANG due to it's high rating on Yelp. While they were able to seat us in a reasonable time, it appeared that they weren't tracking our reservation at all. So, after being seated behind the bar, in a tight corner, and where one had to ask the table next to you to get up and move so you could be seated (really strange) we looked at the menu. We order drinks/cocktails, appetizers, and entrees. A few moments later one of our party's entrée showed up. When we inquired about our drinks and appetizers and to why one entrée would be presented before the starters, the entrée was removed and presumably set behind the counter somewhere, as when it arrived for the second time (after appetizers, but still before our cocktails) it was room temperature. Wait staff was friendly but never checked in on us other than to drop off food selections at random times.
As for the food itself. Meh. It's typical Asian-fusion food. Nothing spectacular to write about. Even their signature chicken dish was "ordinary" and the sweet potato pairing was uninspired and disconnected. Nothing was bad, nothing was exceptional either.
When the bill arrived we asked to have the early-arriving entrée removed from the tab. They were quick to remedy the situation. Still, for the price, strange service, and so-so food I wouldn't return.
Love, love the food!
Had the Pork belly and pumpkin---a highlight. Mongolian beef, spicy wonton soup, white rice, and had them special order a plate of stir fried bok choy as the veggie items are a bit limited.
Everything was medium spicy --hot and savory but not overly powerful. Great place with round tables with lazy susans to make food sharing easy. Very good prices for value.
Stack of menus on our table were filthy. Chewed up corners and covers and food and grease splatters all over them. Waiters t shirt was also filthy. Turned completely off by this. Food was sub par.
Fang is easily the best Chinese restaurant I’ve ever been to! As we were looking through the menu, the owner actually came to our table and when we told him we had never been, he took the menu away and said he will take care of us. Half of our group was vegetarian and every single thing that came out was delicious. I will be back every time that I’m in San Francisco!
They brought us a delicious array of dishes--veg, fish, prawns, noodles, meat--in succession and we were never at a loss for new flavors, even as our appetites gradually grew sated!
Excellent food and service. Chef heard it was our first visit and treated us to a blind tasting. Everything was amazing!
Good food, some unusual dishes-in a good way. Salt pork belly w pumpkin was excellent. Aggro-techno at 5p on a Sunday was a weird music choice...
Very torn about this place. On the one and most important hand, the food was excellent. Mr. Fang pretty much insisted we let him order for us, and while that wouldn't make a lot of people comfortable, we rolled with it and it was great. But the music was terrible and way too loud for Sunday brunch, and the service was indifferent. If they brought up their game on those two fronts, it would be a fabulous place.
What a wonderful experience. My wife and I were wanting some great San Francisco Chinese on our first night in town and Fang brought it. As per the recommendations online we asked the older gentleman (I believe Mr Fang?) to order for us. Wow it was several courses and we enjoyed every bite. It was just the right amount of food for two. Every bite was delicious and I’m sad that I can’t find equivalent Chinese here in Austin. I will be back.
Table wasn't ready until
It was for lunch, before we went to MOMA. Mostly good food.
Excellent food and service. Kathy and Peter present wonderful lunch/dinner menus, which will fit any palate. We are frequent diners.....it’s always good.
Truly amazing Dino’s experience.
Owner said that count on him not select from the menue.
Beaf with vegetables was great, soup with dumpling and nodules was taste so good.
Fried rice is bit oily.
Great food — amazing selection. Chef took our menus away and just brought us food, and everything was phenom.
Great Chinese food, a bit crowded seating, service is quite basic but the food compensates for a lot.
I have eaten Chinese food all over the world
And I have to say without exception this was the absolute worst I have ever had
