The service was great, the setting was cozy and quiet. The food presentation and flavors were incredible. We had a great quiet anniversary. We didn't tell them we were celebrating, but we didn't need to.

It’s been about 10 years since I’ve been to Fandango’s for dinner and I have to say nothing really has changed. Our meals were excellent. Just as I remember. The service was excellent and the restaurant has a very cozy feel to it. It was full of friendly locals which is always a good testament to a good restaurant.

Beautiful place. I liked the decor and ambient. There was a bit of noise in the room, but the restaurant was very busy so was understandable. Food was ok, the canelones that I ordered were more a lasagña with tons of cheese on top.

First let me say my wife and I really like Fandango and will continue to go there for lunch and dinner. But I was surprised by a very substandard Veal Picatta Dish. As I remember about $35 on the dinner menu. My wife ordered Chicken Capri. As I tasted my first bite of "veal" the meat was tasteless. The Picatta sauce was over the top lemony. Capers were fine. Secondly the meat was pounded to about a 1/4 inch or way too thin to keep any moisture in it after cooking. However I was really hungry and did eat the picatta. It didn't taste bad it didn't taste like anything-not even baby beef. I tasted my wifes Chicken Capri (almost same sauce) and it had really good flavor. That was a $25 menu item.

When the waiter asked about the meal, I said I was very disappointed in the lack of flavor , the over cooking etc This was NOT veal in my opinion. If it was any flavor or life was cooked out of this thin ribbon of meat.

He apologized and brought us free dessert which was nice. But I was surprised at this normally top notch restaurant.

I would order the Chicken Capri over the Veal Picatta based on my experience last Saturday evening.

We are from San Francisco and had our Thanksgiving dinner at Fandango. We arrived on time for our reservation, but had a 20 minute wait to be seated. My salad was swimming in dressing though my wife liked hers. The salmon was very salty. I don't eat beef and did not want turkey so I had pasta. There was too much sauce on the pasta, but it came in handy on the salmon. The server did not fill our empty water glasses. The wine list was very impressive, but had no wines by the glass. It was an okay meal, not what we expected from a restaurant with a very good reputation.

We came on Thanksgiving hoping to try some good Basque food, instead we got a meh meal. It was a set meal and a set price. You got a choice of ham, turkey, sirloin...it tasted like a banquet meal. The maitre'd was hard to understand and shuffled us to a room like cattle to be seated. The staff was being run ragged. They had to deal with the fall out of unhappy patrons. I booked through open table. I wish we would of known that this would be a pre-packaged meal, I would of gone else where for much less. We felt rushed and definitely not a relaxing meal.
I realize it was a holiday, but a heads up would of been nice when booking through open table.

We were recommended this restaurant by the manager of another restaurant that had to unexpectedly close this week. He recommended it very highly, so we had no compunctions about giving Fandango a try. We were not disappointed! It was fantastic. Wonderful food in a casual fine dining setting with very hospitable and attentive staff including the manager who really made us feel at home. We must come back!

First impression was odd. The manager/host ignored us for a few minutes as did a couple of servers-mind you the restaurant wasn’t busy. Our server was delightful and they had a nice wine list but the food was bland and all had a grey hue and mushy. It was all overpriced, especially for what you were getting.

Great choices of entrees. Not inexpensive but reasonably priced with many entrees less than $30. More comfort food than it is gourmet. Liberal use of garlic.

Fandango is consistent with good food, good service and a warm comforting environment.
It can also be considered romantic with it's various rooms to dine in and the warm glow of the interior. A great local restaurant known for it's great food and local following.

This restaurant is wonderful. The food is Spanish and French Basque in character. The quality of the food and it’s preparation are excellent. The service is attentive, unobtrusive and professional. The ambience is inviting and the decor has a rustic but understated elegant quality that reminds me of a high-end Country French restaurant. This is a place you will want to linger during dinner. You never feel rushed here. This is my favorite restaurant for all of these reasons.

This was our first return to Fandango after staying away for more than ten years due to Overpriced food and Insanely Exaggerated wine prices. NOTHING HAS CHANGED! Fandango is simply a restaurant to be avoided. We were subjected to the worse Romaine Lettuce Salad that could possibly have been put on a salad plate. It consisted of two mini-pieces of stale Romaine Lettuce laid side by side on a salad plate with a mini-sprinkling of very finally chopped tomatoes, cheese of some sort and almost none of the promised bacon bits. Truly, we should have sent immediately it back!

The Paella (which was ordered by two of us) was UNFIT to carry the name Paella! Fandango has no clue, no idea how to prepare or serve anything approaching fine food. We can NEVER recommend such an OVERPRICED and UNDER-QUALITIED restaurant.

This was our second time at Fandango. We were celebrating a birthday, with 8 people in our party. Although our previous visit to the restaurant was good (4 stars), this experience wasn't so inspiring. The food is good, but for the price ($30-36 for an entree), not as good as I'd expect. Ambiance is nice, with lots of small rooms and brick walls, but they crammed all 8 of us into a very tight space. Service was fine, but they charged us for a salad we didn't order, and when we mentioned it to the waiter, we got a hasty "oh, I'll take it off", rather than an apology - almost as if he put it there thinking we wouldn't notice since there were so many of us there.

All in all, the experience was such that I don't think I'll be back.

Food was Excellent. I can usually leave the bread alone, but the bread at Fandango is wonderful! French onion soup was exceptional. Rich delicious broth, with the traditional presentation. The paella was absolutely delicious and generously portioned. We had the Hot Grand Marnier souffle for dessert and it did not disappoint. Our server was attentive but not overbearing, service was impeccably timed. Would absolutely go here again.

Ordered the Abalone dish - which at $95 one would expect to be a superbly crafted entree - but instead, it was coated thickly with breaded crust and drowned in an olive oil and garlic concoction that completely obscured e taste of the abalone.

Between this and an extremely overpriced wine selection - Very disappointed.

Fandango is fantastic! My husband and I have been driving to the Monterey peninsula once or twice a year for decades specifically to have lunch or dinner at this delightful Italian restaurant. The entrees are hearty and delicious, the service is attentive and friendly, the experience is always a treat. Highly recommended.

We enjoyed dinner at Fandango for my wife's birthday and were seated at the table by the fireplace. Service was spotless; pre-dinner Chardonnay was excellent; our waiter knew the menu, how the dishes were prepared, what the ingredients were, and made valuable recommendations. My wife ordered scallops, which melted in her mouth; I enjoyed the authentic paella; we each had small salads before our entrees, and we splurged on desserts - Grand Marnier soufflé and profiteroles, with coffee as a chaser. Portions were much more than "adequate". Fandango is not a place to wolf down a quick meal but a place to savor the confluence of convivial conversation, excellent drinks, a leisurely meal of superb food, delicious desserts, and a wonderful ambience and European charm. Our favorite restaurant on the Monterey Peninsula.

The star levels are hard to set for this restaurant because we had one good meal and one bad meal. The escargot and sand dabs were excellent, as was the first serving of bread. The house tomato soup and the Caesar salad with tiny cold-water shrimp were not worth eating. And the second serving of bread was some kind of supermarket baguette, barely better than wonder bread. There was a good selection of French wine. So escargot, sand dabs, and pouilly-fuisse were very good. The other meal was fair to poor.
