I visited Fandango with a business colleague. The place was packed--a good sign. But the reality of the good reviews did not meet the promise.
I had the Duck with orange sauce. The duck was overcooked and the orange sauce was insipid. My caprese salad appetizer was disappointing too; the tomatoes were not very flavorful and the mozzarella was a bit tough.
Even the dessert--a Grand Marnier souffle--did not have much character.
Maybe this was just an off night for them, but most certainly it was a bad night for us.
Always a stellar night when you dine at Fandango's. So unique and so amazing!
Always good. High standards. Superb service.
Like it very much. The foie gras was excellent.
Really great food. We had one item from the menu and one of the specials for the day. Both were outstanding. Desserts (two of them) were both excellent as well. Great restaurant with very friendly staff. We will definitely recommend it to friends and visit again if we are in the area.
Love this place! Had sand dabs today — they were the best I’ve ever had!
They are worst than last time 2 years ago
Diches poor in flavor
At the end they Bring dessert that i not ordered
We had an exceptional evening at Fandango. Miguel took care to make sure we had a great night from the moment we arrived. Our server was also excellent and the food was delicious. We had the Paella and the Scallops. Extra touches made our anniversary evening special. We recommend this restaurant and will definitely return.
Fandango is always a favorite when we visit Pacific Grove. Fantastic meal as well as service and ambiance.
Exceptional dining experience. It is a must for anyone visiting the central California coast and Monterey. The menu is outstanding, extensive wine list and superior service.
Always treated like family there. Impeccable dining experience
Amazing food. Amazing service. A rare gem for Monterey.
Restaurant was very busy. It took a long time for our server to come to our table. Food was excellent as always. Very large selection.
If you plan to come to this restaurant take in mind that it can be very crowded, not a lot of space to move around.
Very disappointing for the money. No one finished their meal. Salmon over-cooked until hard. Sand dabs so swimming in butter that the coating was limp. So-so pasta and veggies on the plate accompanying main course.
Our first visit and we were so delighted. Ambiance is very warm and inviting with many smaller rooms to dine in. We ate in the large room with all the windows and fireplace. It was crowded but not noisey so we were not bothered by other diners. Nice varied selection of food and wine. We would return in a heartbeat.
Fandango has been one of our favorites on the peninsula for many years. This was our first time to dine there for Easter brunch. The pre-fixe menu options were varied, and everyone in our party of five were delighted by the fabulous tastes! The service was, as always, outstanding. The chef even takes time out from the kitchen to check with diners about their satisfaction! I highly recommend Fandango for lunch and for dinner and for special occasions; they are very good at keeping secrets! Bravo to all!
This was our first visit, but will definitely not be our last. The food was perfectly cooked and served at the proper temperature, and beautifully plated. The chef meeting each table was the cherry on top!
Great food, great service, easy to park right out front. Wonderful dinner out on a Saturday night!
Everything was absolutely wonderful! From the moment we arrived Fandango did everything perfect. Other restaurants should visit to learn what is truly great customer service. The food? Absolutely amazing! Chef Jacques is a master and all the dishes that came out of his kitchen was perfect.
We Will be back!!!
We recently visited Fandango with our kids (14 and 10) after a few years' absence. We were introduced to Fandango by our parents and have now adopted this Pacific Grove gem as our own, so we have been frequenting this restaurant collectively for several decades. We include a dinner or lunch here every time we plan to be in the Monterey Peninsula. The kitchen staff catered to our son's off-menu food preferences, and the service was, as always, superb. In addition to the wide variety of dishes and their not-to-be-missed specialties, Fandango has an extensive and well-stocked wine collection with a selection for everyone's tastes. Highly recommended!
We were on vacation from Chicago and decided to try this place out for a date night. Absolutely lovely! Or service was fantastic, interesting ambience, and delicious dinner. I ordered the scallops and my husband ordered the surf and turf. Onion soup and heirloom salad to start. Everything was great.
This restaurant came highly recommended by a friend and did not disappoint
The service and food are spectacular! The staff is very well versed in their extensive wine and champagne menu and they gave us a excellent champagne suggestion. The abalone was to die for!! We will definitely be back!
Delicious and great ambiance. We sat by the fireplace. It was lovely. I had lamb chops cooked to perfection. Husband had oso bucco. Very good as well.
Again, consistently wonderful.
As always, Fandango provided great food and outstanding service. We have nothing special to report other than we felt very well taken care of from the moment we entered the restaurant until we left. The wait staff were extremely friendly and very attentive but not bothersome. In the larger dining room, the noise level was acceptable even for your hard of hearing reporter. The food was great, as well. A wonderful place for good meal.
Food was really good and the service even better. It's a very unique restaurant. Lot of old-time charm.
We celebrated my mom’s birthday—there was 6 of us including my dad, teen sons and my husband. The food was fantastic and there was something for all of us for Sunday brunch. The service was amazing as well. Will go back again, for the paella next time.
Overall we enjoy the food here, and the Sunday Brunch has a good selection.
We have been going back over the years- could use a bit of updating in the décor.
Love all the different size rooms which can be very private if needed.
We were greeted by very friendly host and quickly seated with an option to sit in a quiet or more lively room. Our waiter was very attentive, offering suggestions and going out of his way to make our visit meaningful and comfortable. I would love to go back and try other menu options. They have a very extensive wine list from $35 - the hundreds! I believe their corking fee is high at $26, especially when they have so many regional wines that are very good. It would be nice to see this waived if a Monterey Co wine is brought in like they do in Napa.
Great variety of dishes, wines & desserts. Paella was excellent.
Great paella and my teen son loved his croque monsieur. We also shared a Caesar with bay shrimp. It was big enough for two.
Accommodated my GF needs.
The seafood was good. The salad was very heavily dressed. One member of my party ordered a cheeseburger medium rare. It was well done.
Very very disappointing. Important occasion, didn’t even get a hello or acknowlegement from the waiter whatsoever. In fact I don’t believe he spoke to us at all. (Except to tell me they could not cook the tuna for me on the nicoise) We felt very rushed. He never came back to check on us , we had to ask for coffee and he never even offered a dessert menu, much less a cappuccino or latte. Didn’t give us any time to linger or offer a refill on our coffee before he set down the check.
The food had NO flavor at all not even salt. I had to dig the lemon out of my iced tea to squeeze over my chicken Capri .
I’m not a complainer and really don’t write reviews but felt compelled to in this case. We have history at this restaurant which made this experience kind of sad.
I had requested one of their smaller dining areas (private rooms) for our large brunch party. It was wonderful because we had three diners who are hard of hearing, they had no problem interacting due to the total lack of background noise. The wait staff was amazing. Taking care of large parties, everyone making decisions about cocktails and food at different times, they were gracious and attentive. The owner even poked his head in a couple of times to see how things were going. Cannot recommend highly enough!!! Side note.....the food was all amazing.
Excellent as always!
Always get a great meal in a beautiful setting. So lucky to have such an outstanding “neighborhood “ restaurant.
The server went out of the way to meet my gluten free restrictions
