Fandango Ratings and Reviews
Our meal was an absolute delight. We had sand dabs as an appetizer and they were excellent, so flavorful. My husband had lamb and I had the surf and turf, two lobster tails and a filet mignon. It was to die for. Every bite was so full of delicious flavor. The service was excellent. And the ambiance was wonderful. We were seated in a small room with two other tables, so the noise level was low and conversation was easy. We would not hesitate to go back.
We were seated in the "wine cellar" which was nice and cozy until another party came and the room became very loud and conversation difficult. The lamb shank with couscous was tasty but not served hot. The paella mediocre. Service was friendly and efficient. I would ask for a quiet table next time.
One of our top choices in the Pacific Grove/Carmel/Monterey area! Once again, another great meal. This time we were seated in one of the smaller dining rooms and that was fun. Our server was great and took excellent care of us. The food was outstanding. I had rabbit and my husband had the surf & turf. Wonderful evening. Great wine list.
By far one of the MOST AMAZING restaurants in town and in California. It's the perfect combination of great atmosphere, amazing food & the perfect amount of service all of the time, day or night and all in one spot. Truly hard to find places like this these days..Don't miss it!
I went to lunch with my sister which is a rare occasion so we were very happy to be seated by the fireplace and have such great service and really tasty food. Overall our experience was exceptional. I recommend starting with their simple but tasty bloody Mary's on a Sunday afternoon.
I am always wary of restaurants that advertise in tourist towns. This place was fantastic. Old world stone walls ambiance, excellent sand dabs and chicken salad entree. The grand marnier souffle was as good as it gets. Great service and a charming place for a date. Don't let the ads discourage you.
We were so looking forward to going back to Fandango...it had been several years. The wonderful atmosphere hasn’t changed, but the food....oh my.
The meal started with two cold, unbelievably hard rolls delivered to our table. We should have sent them back...or left. The rest of the meal was just so ordinary. What a disappointment, for what was to have been a special occasion dinner..
Fandango was pretty good overall, but my meal left lots to be desired. We were there for brunch. Ambience was great. Staff were very accommodating with the seating requirements of our party. Coffee was great. Bloody Mary's were great. Everyone's food came out timely and was presented well....except mine. For some reason my Eggs Benedict came out 10 minutes after everybody else's meal even another Eggs Benedict. Despite the tardiness, everything tasted great except for the English muffin. It could easily have passed for a hockey puck. It wasn't burnt, it was just hard as a rock. Completely inedible. I would have alerted the staff, but they seemed to disappear after my food was finally served and I was just trying to finish the meal within a reasonable amount of time as my friends. When we asked for the check, I told the server. He physically checked the hardness himself, as if I wasn't telling the truth. He acknowledged my observation and could only exclaim "the poached eggs looked good to me, so I served it," which is fair, but this was a complete failure of the kitchen. This should never have been served and I would have expected an apology from management or a discount on the meal for the experience.
Food great, service good. I like this place a lot
The restaurant has an unusual “wine by the glass” policy. They do not publish a list with prices. They simply state that they have certain varietal types available.
There is no multiple brand choice nor price list. I do not like the fact that I can’t see what Wine I’m drinking nor what it costs, in advance. This is less than satisfactory for me and is my only dissatisfaction.
We met our daughter and her boyfriend for a Christmas Eve dinner at Fandango's. She lives in Monterey, but had never been there. We have been there several times and have always enjoyed the ambiance and the food. This time, we were a little disappointed in the food...it didn't seem to be up to the normal quality. The prices were high, and this slip in quality made us rethink going there again.
