Famous Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
Our server was very attentive.
I was disappointed in the steak oscar. Although crab was plentiful, the sauce was not and asparagus somewhat overcooked. Steak flavor was good, but not exceptional compared to the last time I was there.
The high price used to be worth the money, that was not the case on 1/5/19.
Well this was my wife’s favorite restaurant but after a Christmas Eve dinner that changed . We were seated in a corner of the restaurant with cold air blowing on us while it was below twenty degrees outside. Enjoyed our meal with blue hands and jackets. Was displeased to say the least.
The food and service at The Famous is head and shoulders above any other steakhouse in town. Steaks are tender and all seafood so fresh. We went for office Christmas dinner for a party of 6. Very hard to carry on a quiet conversation when full of holiday party goers. Other times of year it is just fine. Generous portions and a much better value and quality than others.
Does the Famous ever get a bad review? Here goes: It was terrible, as in, from the dictionary: Terrible: Extreme in extent or degree; intense: "the life for which he had paid so terrible a price."
Applied thusly to our dinner the other night, it was terribly good.
The Famous is the best place we've eaten in Colorado Springs, that serves a meal that is worth savoring. You can tell a Chef makes or oversees the cooking process. My brother is a retired Four Star Chef in Germany. We would be proud to bring him to The Famous, for a high quality meal. Thank you for being in Colorado Springs and serving such wonderful meals.
I absolutely love The Famous! First of all, the food is always very good. But, one of the best reasons to come here is the people, from the greeters to the service staff, it's always top notch. They truly make you feel like you're the most important person in the room.
My experience was awesome. The portions were enough for 2 meals and I could not get enough of that fabulous rosemary, onion, sourdough bread. The Famous isn't a place I could afford often, but it sure was worth it for my first time. My neighbors were very impressed, as well. We had just seen a show in Cripple Creek and then we always dine together afterward, a yearly tradition for us. Our server, whose name I can't remember, was fantastic! And we all loved the pianist who played a nice mix of Christmas and non-Christmas songs.
We were seated right away and they sat us by the window so we could see the parade. The only downside was there were guests with a screaming baby. Not the restaurants fault, but certainly detracted from our experience since it isn’t an inexpensive place to eat.
I cannot say that I would recommend the Famous to any family or friend due to a few factors. The steak we ordered was over cooked with no flavor and was dry. The mashed potatoes were watery, as if they were box potatoes. The green beans with bacon were so salty that we couldn’t eat them. It was by far the worst birthday dinner I have had and it was expensive for what we got or lack there of. Just wouldn’t recommend this restaurant, McKenzie’s is better.
We went to The Famous for a special occasion, a birthday. Most everything was top notch, our waitress was excellent. There was one exception that ruined our dining experience. That is, our Ribeye steaks were of an obvious low quality grade of beef. Mine was so tough that my jaw was sore by the time I was finished. Sending them back for another steak from the same rack was not an option & it would have put a damper on our birthday festivities. So, I let the waitress know & she said that she would advise the chef. That's OK, it was the end of the meal & it was all I had expected from her. What I had expected from the restaurant was this: When I go to a steakhouse & spend about $500 for a party of four, I expect prime beef. Enough said, I won't be back....
