Famous Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
I cannot say that I would recommend the Famous to any family or friend due to a few factors. The steak we ordered was over cooked with no flavor and was dry. The mashed potatoes were watery, as if they were box potatoes. The green beans with bacon were so salty that we couldn’t eat them. It was by far the worst birthday dinner I have had and it was expensive for what we got or lack there of. Just wouldn’t recommend this restaurant, McKenzie’s is better.
We went to The Famous for a special occasion, a birthday. Most everything was top notch, our waitress was excellent. There was one exception that ruined our dining experience. That is, our Ribeye steaks were of an obvious low quality grade of beef. Mine was so tough that my jaw was sore by the time I was finished. Sending them back for another steak from the same rack was not an option & it would have put a damper on our birthday festivities. So, I let the waitress know & she said that she would advise the chef. That's OK, it was the end of the meal & it was all I had expected from her. What I had expected from the restaurant was this: When I go to a steakhouse & spend about $500 for a party of four, I expect prime beef. Enough said, I won't be back....
Poor service. I received a wedge salad that was drowned in dressing. After a few bites I felt I couldn't eat it. The waiter didn't return to ask how our food was and when we did see him again it was to bring out entree. I told him about the salad and he offered to bring another wedge that I could eat with the dressing that was already on my plate. I declined that stupid offer. We made the reservation to celebrate my birthday and told them upon making the reservation. Nothing was acknowledged. We ordered a dessert to share along with coffee but still no mention of my birthday. Very disappointing.
The service was very good the steaks are always good the side dishes are not well prepared and lack flavor. The deserts are better than average. I have been here several times and the side dishes are very bland to say the least. The staff is always pleasant and well trained.
Food was fine. Service is terrible. It took an hour to order entrees. Waiter thinks he is a celebrity. The Springs doesn't have much in the way of better dining so The Famous survives. Do yourself a favor and skip this pretender.
The Famous is always a "go-to" for a business lunch. Their food is consistently good, the service is always great and you usually see other people you know there. LOVE the crab, avocado salad and their Caesar salad. And, I rarely eat carbs but I eat their bread!
Nice restaurant in Downtown COS. Our server Ramsey was exceptional! The hostess was amazing as well, even stopping by our table and asking how our dinner was. Our food was a mixed bag unfortunately. Manager seemed scattered and rushed from table to table, ping pong stops, but never visited our table. $300 tab for 2 people should have warranted a visit. He was working, but did not make us feel welcome or a guest in "his" house. Piano music was an amazing touch. Lighting could have been lower and candles on the tables are a missed opportunity. Overall, Ramsey made this a 5 star dining occasion.
We had a terrific meal there with our son over Family and Friends Weekend. I wasn’t in the mood for beef that night, so I had the grouper which was terrific and perfectly prepared. Our son had the Strip Steak and my wife enjoyed a mix of appetizers. The bar made a great martini, too. Service was excellent. I would rate it as a five-star restaurant. Only downside was the price of entrees and sides, which was fairly steep. Still, I guess you get what you pay for.
Traditionally one of my favorite spots in town, but the service was off (from the waiter and the kitchen - which took a long time, for drinks, for appetizers, meal, to get the check). The food was still very good. For the price, you expect premium service, and it has been usually that way in the past.
Great food. Very much enjoyed my dining experience with the exception of being seated in between two large dining parties and having the piano player going at the same time. At times I felt like my head was going to explode from all of the noise. I still enjoy coming to the famous and will continue to recommend it to my friends and colleagues.
The Food was fabulous. The carpaccio listed as an appetizer had an excellent flavor and the presentation was perfect. The steaks ordered that evening had an excellent flavor and were cooked to the exact temperature requested. The seating arrangement makes dining seem private and personal.
