Famous Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
Filet mignon was absolutely to die for! Portions were enormous! Since this is an ‘a la carte’ menu, I was glad that we only chose one side and a salad as accompaniments. Steak was super tender and full of flavor. There was live piano music that made for an enjoyable experience for our date night. Highly recommended and would definitely eat here again
We were at Del Frisco's for my mothers belated birthday dinner, there was 15 people in our party. The service was great as usual and exceptional for such a large group, that has to be a bit of a challenge . We would like to say thank you....and we'll be back for more delicious food and drinks!
We'd heard about The Famous for years and thought we'd try it out as a thank you to customers. We felt it to be an average dining experience. The food was good, however we felt it didn't rise to the level of the The Famous' reputation. We enjoyed the crafted cocktails and the wait staff was attentive. One of the biggest drawbacks was the noise level, due to the openness of the restaurant, which made conversation difficult. We understand this isn't something that can be controlled. One suggestion we'd like to offer is for the wait staff to explain the portion size of some of the sides; we ordered the onion rings, fries and baked potato, not realizing that one side would have been ample for our party of four.
The food is worth 3 stars, but I had to deduct a star for ambiance— or should I say lack of ambience.
We chose this restaurant for my birthday dinner. Wednesday night, there was one other couple in the restaurant. They clearly have one waiter working because we were sat right next to the one other table and then when another couple came in, they were sat in the same section. The hostess pulled up our reservation and wished me a happy birthday. Nothing else was ever said or done to wish me a happy birthday.
This place is stuffy. It just has an old feel to it. It lacks modernity and sophistication. The waiter was nice, but way too casual for what is supposed to be a fine dining experience.
The food was okay. I’ve had steaks just as good or better at restaurants that charge half the price. Our baked potatoes were hard and cold. We sent them back. The fresh potatoes were hotter, but still rather hard. The green beans were good and seasoned well. The thin onion rings had no seasoning. The Caesar salads were just okay— nothing special. What seemed very odd to us was the bread they offered at the beginning of our meal. It was stone cold. Why would a restaurant that is supposed to be fine dining serve cold bread with cold butter? So odd.
Since it was my birthday dinner, we did go ahead and get a cheesecake for dessert. It was pretty good, not epic, but okay, at least until my husband bit in and had to pull paper out of his mouth.
This place is too expensive to give it another try.
Had an amazing experience the first time my wife and I came about a month and half ago....not so this time around. We were so excited to bring my mother in law who came from out of town Bc of how much we were blown away by our first experience. First, had a waiter drop horseradish on my suit picking up the plate. Then we were told the oysters were small and when they came out they were probably close to the biggest oysters I’ve ever seen. And coming from New Orleans that says a lot. The bread was warm on outside and ice cold on inside. The waitress had an attitude the entire time and spending $300 for dinner you would come to expect a different type of service. I can honestly say I won’t be back and I’m sure there are plenty places you can spend $300 in a couple hours on dinner that will definitely deliver on the experience you would expect and appreciate your business.
Our server was very attentive.
I was disappointed in the steak oscar. Although crab was plentiful, the sauce was not and asparagus somewhat overcooked. Steak flavor was good, but not exceptional compared to the last time I was there.
The high price used to be worth the money, that was not the case on 1/5/19.
Well this was my wife’s favorite restaurant but after a Christmas Eve dinner that changed . We were seated in a corner of the restaurant with cold air blowing on us while it was below twenty degrees outside. Enjoyed our meal with blue hands and jackets. Was displeased to say the least.
The food and service at The Famous is head and shoulders above any other steakhouse in town. Steaks are tender and all seafood so fresh. We went for office Christmas dinner for a party of 6. Very hard to carry on a quiet conversation when full of holiday party goers. Other times of year it is just fine. Generous portions and a much better value and quality than others.
Does the Famous ever get a bad review? Here goes: It was terrible, as in, from the dictionary: Terrible: Extreme in extent or degree; intense: "the life for which he had paid so terrible a price."
Applied thusly to our dinner the other night, it was terribly good.
