F'Amelia Ristorante Ratings and Reviews
Great food, super efficient service, however even though I had asked for a high chair for my 1 yo child, they only had one and even if I was at the restaurant first, another family seemed to have priority over the high chair and I had to give it to them after a bit and try to feed my child on my lap. Not impressed that they only have 1 high chair.
A friend and I had dinner here on a Saturday night. Great service, took a bit to get our first drink but the service was great after that. Very friendly and even took our coats :) We were seated by the door which was a little cool at some points and sort of loud but we didn't mind too much. We both had pizza and it was absolutely delicious!
Food, ambience, and service are great, but the experience was dimmed somewhat by paying for water. The offer was for filtered still or fizzy, for $2 each, with tap water not mentioned as an option. When the bill came, it was $3 each. I was also upset by the price of the wine. I chose a medium priced one, but after the server's glowing description of a different one, I ordered the one suggested. It didn't occur to me to ask if it cost more, and the server never mentioned it. It turned out to be the most expensive on the menu. It really was good, but I felt I'd been suckered.
the beef in the lasagna was over mashed like sand no layers in lasagna like a bowl of gritty sauce the rissotto was mushy overall tomatoe dishes too tomato dense charged too much for the Q -water rabbit dish was very good appetizers very good shrimp cooked to perfection as was the scallops
We brought some friends to F'Amelia for the first time. We have been many times and each time feels special because the old house it is in so so lovely and the food is good, solid Italian fare.
The food was good, but as someone with a gluten sensitivity the choices were limited as they don't have gluten free pasta or pizza crust. The wine list is good and the chocolate mousse is rich and satisfying.
We came there with a huge group of like 17 people and they accommodated us even tho we only had a reservation for 10-15 people, plus we were a little late. They setup a pizza menu for us with drinks and desert. The BBQ Chicken Pizza and Cacciatore Pizza was amazing. And we all had the best Tiramisu ever...it was so light and fluffy. The servers and staff were excellent and were really sweet. P.S I liked the romantic candle light dinner vibe, that was cool.
Enjoyed the restaurant and would return - only complaint is the service. The waiter was very accommodating and friendly, except there was an issue with the wine order.
The bottle was advertised as a 2007 I believe, and the label said 2017. When questioned, the waiter said it did not make much of a difference, they would taste the same. There was no explanation as to why the wine was not as stated in the menu. I was very disappointed by this...
Otherwise I enjoyed the food, the ambience, and value of the meal and dining experience.
It was ridiculously cold in the restaurant. Sure, the people outside had heat lamps, but everyone inside was exposed to the cold from the open doors. They should really heat the inside too if they insist on leaving the patio open on a cold night. It was hard to enjoy my meal.
The food, on the other hand, came SCREAMING hot. I burned my mouth on the first bite of lasagna. The waitress only warned me not to touch the dish, but she should have warned me that the food would take at least 20 minutes to be edible. I had to nibble on my husband's dinner until mine was the appropriate temperature for consumption. His mushroom risotto was good, though mostly just salt flavoured. Didn't get any truffle flavour at all.
We also shared the salumi plate. Delicious, but so meager.
I wouldn't come here again, nor recommend it. Maybe if their pasta boiler was working it would have been a better experience. But it was way too expensive for a place that has more of a homey atmosphere.
F'amilia is a nice casual Italian Restsurante that uses local ingredients where possible to serve delicious and somewhat unique meals.
Our server's knowledge of their wines and food was excellent.
Our 6pm dinner was perfect but after 8pm is does get busy and this was a Thursday night. They seem to cope perfectly with the increase in diners however.
A wonderful dinner with excellent service.
We went specifically for the Giro D'Italia prix fixe menu and were disappointed that it wasn't available (in fact, the server didn't even know what we were talking about and had to ask). It's odd, because it was on their web site and on the menu board outside the restaurant, so not sure why it wasn't available. Anyway, we ordered off the regular menu and the food was delicious. It was a perfect evening for al fresco dining. Antipasto board was wonderful. Yummy cocktails, decent wine list.
A belated birthday celebration and to take in their Summerlicious menu, we enjoyed dinner on a Friday evening. Our server Gregory took the time to explain our selections and our hostess Tonya was friendly and had great taste in the music which was playing. Our appetizers and main courses were tasty; desserts were delightful and our inside table against the railing gave us access to both inside and patio ambience. Loved it and can't wait to visit F'Amelia again, perhaps to try a weekend brunch.
We went for Summerlicious. My husband ordered the lamb which consisted of two small pieces of lamb covered with fat. I ordered a shrimp pasta off the regular menu which had four tiny shrimp in it. The pasta was tasty but $24.00 for a small dish with four shrimp is ridiculous. The peach salad appetizer consisted of a few thin slices of peach with buffalo mozzarella, a tiny portion. We sat outside on the patio which was the one redeeming aspect of the evening as it was a beautiful night. If Summerlicious is supposed to introduce people to new restaurants in the city, F'Amelia failed miserably.
