Fairview Dining Room Ratings and Reviews
The noise was nearly overwhelming; hard to hear over loud conversation and a piano. Television screens with football on every wall like a sports bar were distracting and degraded other attempts to appear upscale. Food was good, but not great, and expensive.
Outstanding. The only "negative" is that the ambiance was less formal than I remembered. The menu did not include all that is shown within the dining website. A bit disconcerting for a high end restaurant to have burgers on the menu. However, the meals we had were outstanding.
When we visited Fairview a few months ago, we had service issues. When we visited in December, I was so impressed with the service and food. January, for a special occasion, it seemed to take forever to get our drinks, bread, salad and meal. There were 5 of us and even though there were several round tables to accommodate our group comfortably, we were sat at a three quarters table where we were on top of each other. We initially had to stop folks to get water refills. Since the booking was identified as a birthday, I would have assumed the waiter, or someone would have mentioned it and found out who was celebrating a birthday. Then when presenting the birthday dessert, it would have been presented to the correct person. The table next to us had issues too so I'm guessing it was just not a bonus night at Fairview. We will try it one more time.
We spent New Year’s Eve at Fairview, and it was so memorable. The special menu was exquisite. It was so creative, and all the courses were cooked to perfection. We loved the elegant ambiance, and the service was amazing. The piano music was very enjoyable. Fairview is truly wonderful.
We enjoyed New Year's Eve fixed five course dinner very much. Food, service, ambience all great, as usual as the Fairview. Sunday brunch is always a super occasion, too.
I had steak and oysters for my entree, my wife Chilean Sea Bass. All extremely well prepared and presented. The food is never "tortured" just treated with respect and flair.
My family always likes to go to the Fairview for special occasions and we make it a must do when my son is in town. The food is always delicious with a number of menu choices. Presentation is as expected for fine dining. We enjoy the early menu which gives us a full course at a reasonable price, with a dessert sampling. The wait staff are always attentive and responsive to your every need. Not really a place for small children.
Christmas Eve-This was not their best night in comparison to many other visits. Though everyone loved their appetizers and desserts, the entrees were mediocre and my filet was served over-cooked , twice. By the time the waiter returned to check on my second presentation, my family was finished with their entrees, so I chose to just skip to dessert. Of course the staff were very apologetic and did not charge me for my meal, but given the occasion and the cost ($75/person) it was quite disappointing . Im not sure I would risk another Christmas Eve, but will still be back in hopes of an experience more in keeping witb the quality I have come to expect at the Fairview.
Christmas Eve 4 course meal. Simply outstanding with great wine pairings. Service by Miguel was terrific. First timers and would definitely return. Each course was delightful and the presentation was spot on. Dining room overlooks the golf course. Entire wait staff were professional but friendly. the entire evening was well orchestrated.
My wife and I have eaten at the Fairview several times and we always enjoy it. The service is normally first rate (though our waiter disappeared for around 15 minutes after we'd finished eating this visit) and the atmosphere is quiet and classy. The food is outstanding and the menu has something for everyone. The Fairview is highly recommended for an anniversary or special birthday dining experience.
Elegant styled restaurant for special occasions and romantic dinners; wait staff are very attentive and friendly, but not overbearing. The atmosphere is very nice for adults; even children seem to recognize this is a place for in-door voices only. Lighting is low, but not so much you need a flashlight to read the menu. Prices are what you would expect from a nationally 5 star restaurant.
Whole restaurant was almost empty, however, a receptionist assigned us the table right near the entrance. I guess he didn't want to walk a long way to inside tables! Then, we asked him to change it. It took 15 minutes or longer to switch a table! Awful service!
First course soups excellent. Dinner collard greens too salty to eat. Crab cake tasty but shouldn't be served at room temperature. Companion meal held under heat lamp too long.
Virtually ignored by server. Not greeted promptly on arrival. Had to ask to check coats. Won't return
We were seated by very friendly wait staff at,what I considered the best seat in the house, to the left of the talented piano player. We were surrounded by beautiful renditions of well known Christmas music throughout our stay. Served a wonderful bottle of Sauvignon Blanc (Stags Leap), by extremly helpful wine sommelier. Waitstaff knowledgeable, though she missed on warning my wife that the shrimp entree was somewhat spicy. My wife sent the dish back to the kitchen and our waiter removed that item from our bill. Other than that, my NY Strip steak was well done rather than medium. Too bad as it was a nice piece of steak. Quite a nice meal for our family, there to celebrate our daughters Master’s level graduation in nursing from Duke, the #1 nursing program in the nation. Washington Duke Inn lived up to its reputation of operationg a great Inn with very helpful staff whenever they were needed.
