Fairview Dining Room Ratings and Reviews
We were seated by very friendly wait staff at,what I considered the best seat in the house, to the left of the talented piano player. We were surrounded by beautiful renditions of well known Christmas music throughout our stay. Served a wonderful bottle of Sauvignon Blanc (Stags Leap), by extremly helpful wine sommelier. Waitstaff knowledgeable, though she missed on warning my wife that the shrimp entree was somewhat spicy. My wife sent the dish back to the kitchen and our waiter removed that item from our bill. Other than that, my NY Strip steak was well done rather than medium. Too bad as it was a nice piece of steak. Quite a nice meal for our family, there to celebrate our daughters Master’s level graduation in nursing from Duke, the #1 nursing program in the nation. Washington Duke Inn lived up to its reputation of operationg a great Inn with very helpful staff whenever they were needed.
Fabulous food and superb service as usual. One of our favorite restaurants anywhere and a place we frequent. No hesitation in highly recommending. This occasion was their Saturday brunch with live piano jazz. Great selection of entrees and the deserts are to die for.
The Fairview Dining Room was referred to me by a friend, and I'm glad that it was. It was excellent. The staff (including the front desk, service and wait staff) were friendly and very helpful. The food was outstanding, and the ambiance of the Fairview Dining Room was really lovely for Sunday Brunch. I would highly recommend it for any occasion.
Outstanding. Service was top-notch. We started with the cheese plate. dish was varied & everything tasted great. Salads were fresh and crisp. The duck and sirloin we ordered were cooked just as we has asked. Wine was very good. Servers were knowledgeable and were prompt without hovering. The Fairview is highly recommended.
All three of us thoroughly enjoyed our lunches. We were given a comfortable booth— which was perfect since we were there for two and one hslf hours—catching up with an old friend from out of town. It was quiet and the staff was very attentive—the manager even came by to ask how we were enjoying our meals. The elegant decor further enhanced our dining experience. Highly recommend.
Food was average. Service was poor. We had three different people waiting on us. They weren’t helpful. Sat us right next to the piano player could not hear each other. Dessert buffet at brunch was bad. Overall poor for an Anniversary brunch. I was embarrassed taking my wife there for brunch. Most likely we won’t be back for dinner. This was one of our favorite places in Durham for dinner.
We had a very nice time but there were just a couple of negatives: an order for a cup of soup was delivered as a bowl; the soup was supposed to be gluten free but had croutons in it; meat was request medium rare and came more medium well. They assured us that the bowl would only be charged as a cup. It did not happen. But they did provide a wonderful desert as a complimentary item. We would eat there again but not immed
