Fairview Dining Room Ratings and Reviews
The Fairview Dining Room was referred to me by a friend, and I'm glad that it was. It was excellent. The staff (including the front desk, service and wait staff) were friendly and very helpful. The food was outstanding, and the ambiance of the Fairview Dining Room was really lovely for Sunday Brunch. I would highly recommend it for any occasion.
Outstanding. Service was top-notch. We started with the cheese plate. dish was varied & everything tasted great. Salads were fresh and crisp. The duck and sirloin we ordered were cooked just as we has asked. Wine was very good. Servers were knowledgeable and were prompt without hovering. The Fairview is highly recommended.
All three of us thoroughly enjoyed our lunches. We were given a comfortable booth— which was perfect since we were there for two and one hslf hours—catching up with an old friend from out of town. It was quiet and the staff was very attentive—the manager even came by to ask how we were enjoying our meals. The elegant decor further enhanced our dining experience. Highly recommend.
Food was average. Service was poor. We had three different people waiting on us. They weren’t helpful. Sat us right next to the piano player could not hear each other. Dessert buffet at brunch was bad. Overall poor for an Anniversary brunch. I was embarrassed taking my wife there for brunch. Most likely we won’t be back for dinner. This was one of our favorite places in Durham for dinner.
We had a very nice time but there were just a couple of negatives: an order for a cup of soup was delivered as a bowl; the soup was supposed to be gluten free but had croutons in it; meat was request medium rare and came more medium well. They assured us that the bowl would only be charged as a cup. It did not happen. But they did provide a wonderful desert as a complimentary item. We would eat there again but not immed
Although the bar was very busy when we arrived, the bartender did not rush us when asked for a special cocktail prior to our reservation time. The restaurant was quiet and the hosts were very welcoming. We were escorted to our table that was comfortably located and arranged. The service staff were extremely on point with the amount of attention given throughout the dining experience. When questioned about any food allergy needs, the staff was as helpful as one could expect reassuring that all needs would be fulfilled.
From the moment our party of seven walked in, we were greeted with friendly, smiling faces
who immediately found our reservation and showed us to our table. The personal attention
continued throughout our visit and we were treated as special guests. There was a good selection on the menu and our entire party was pleased with the outstanding food as well as
excellent service. We will definitely plan more visits to the Fairview Dining at Washington
Had the Sunday Brunch, the shrimp corn chowder was excellent, the corned beef hash and eggs was in a tiny little appetizer size cast iron skillet, for $26 you would think that they can give at least and adult sized portion. Asked for piece of whole wheat toast and was charged $2 for one piece of toast, it should have been included in the price of the meal. Dessert table was out of a few items, good, but the variety was limited. Brunch came with a basket of four assorted biscuits, scones and a muffin. Total with a tip for three came to $107. It was our anniversary, we will find another nice venue to celebrate the occasion in the future. Coffee was included in the price of the brunch. I recognize that the Washington Duke Inn is a premier facility, however, there is a disparity between value for what was served.
We celebrated a business birthday lunch. The food was fabulous. Stephanie was our waitress, and she did a super job! Our honoree was very, very happy, and she felt very special! We all enjoyed a delicious meal! Thank you for a wonderful experience and a wonderful meal!!!
This was our first visit the the Fairview Dining Room and we were pleasantly surprised. It is not mentioned on Open Table that it is inside the Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club, so we had a bit of a time finding it. The food was delicious, though the meat was overlooked but they very quickly refired my filet. The most notable, however, was the exceptional service we received from the moment we entered the Inn and from every member of the staff. Thank you for introducing us to a local restaurant that we will now frequent!!
Delicious and relaxing brunch with three generations of family. Good choices for everyone. The staff accommodated a request not on the children's menu. The Sunday brunch features a piano player who entertained us with delightful melodies, but did not overwhelm our conversation. The staff was friendly and very attentive to our needs. There were a wide range of choices for lunch; the food was delicious, from decadent French toast or pancakes, to Florentine eggs Benedict, Norwegian salmon, and salads. The desert table had a wonderful gluten free peach cobbler as well as an assortment of little cakes and treats.
