My wife andI love this place. She had the Rueben and I had the Black bean burger. Each was delicious and served quickly. Reservation did not disappoint. Great staff on event night (hockey game).

A special visit to Washington DC deserved a special dinner-so glad we tried this Irish pub! The shepherds pie was delightfully authentic, as was my husband's corned beef & cabbage dinner. Ambience was amazing with low lights and design/furnishings you'd find in the old country, herself! Tim, our waiter, completed a perfect night with great service. We will definitely dine here again!

This is a pub, exclusively . There's a bouncer at the door. Why they're on open table taking reservations makes no sense. Very loud, lively pub atmosphere which is great if you're looking for pints. It's not somewhere to dine.

Stopped at the pub after a busy day touring sites in D.C. We had the hamburgers and fish and chips. Everything was good including service. Would return next time in D.C.

We made a reservation but there was no one to seat us or even speak to. The servers and bartenders were overwhelmed by the pre hockey game crowd and knew nothing about reservations- nor cared. We had walked well over a mile to get there and were very disappointed. We left and went elsewhere.

Uncomplicated menu and comfortable atmosphere. There is both a bar and dining area. Our server was attentive and the food came fast. We were in the mood for fish and chips and it did not disappoint.

It was super crowded, so very happy to have made a reservation. Food and drinks were great, service was a little slow, but to be expected when the place is that busy.

The place is fun, authentic, but a bit loud. The server was nice, but rushed. The food was good, but the menu limited. I do wish they would give points for the reservations though, why bother being on Open table.

Food was great and they serve Harp lager which is a plus. Noise level to high for a conversation so not the place for a business dinner.

We were late for our reservation, and we called to let them know. They were very accommodating and friendly. We were taken right away and our waitress was very friendly. We got our food in record time and were out in plenty of time for the Streisant concert. The food was excellent. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. The only drawback for us was the noise level.

Too loud inside with music. Waitress brought food but didn't refill water glasses until near end of meal. Corned beef and cabbage and beer were great though.

Good food and beers, but no kids menu. Kids had to order off the Starters menu, which made it a more expensive lunch. Also, a small (kid-sized) glass of chocolate milk cost more than a large glass of iced tea, and more than 50% of the cost of a draft craft beer. Fado is good, but not if you're bringing kids.

I'm a huge fan of their beer list and the fish and chips. This is always a destination outing for friends when we hit the movie theaters in the area. So I'm here quite often and always happy to return.

We really enjoyed our evening at Fado's. Had a reservation and was seated immediately in a nice corner by the fire. Service was prompt and server responded to every request. Food was outstanding and served hot and fresh. Great cheese dip for appetizer and the best cod and chip this side of the pond. Rhubarb pie and bread pudding for dessert. Great draft Smithwick's beer and a great Cabernet Sauvignon. Also a great selection of bottle beers and whisky. Atmosphere was wonderful and then live music from 10pm. I'll go back again when in DC.

We made a reservation here for my boyfriend's birthday dinner. The minute we stepped through the door, the bouncer came over and asked us for ID. I am 21, but my boyfriend is not, so he would not let us in. After we left, we scoured their website for anything saying that under 21's would not be allowed, but we couldn't find anything. I have no problem with bars requiring patrons to be 21, but it would have been nice if there had been some indication of this on the website, so we would have known not to make a reservation. It was especially confusing because my boyfriend has been here before, and he had no problem getting in that time. NOTE: I can't actually speak for the food or the value because we didn't get to experience that.

Not teenager friendly regardless of the time. I called in advance to make sure I could bring my teenager daughter's for a 7pm reservation, they said I was fine. Once I arrived they were asked for ID, and even though we had reservations we were asked to leave. Very rude about it as well. Do yourself a favor and go to Matchbox down the street.

We never ended up eating here but they said they didn't have a reservation for us. Just as well because it was a total bar scene and was so loud inside that you couldn't hear your neighbor speak. Also, the fire marshall should check out the number of people they pack into the place. Sorry, we have no food review. Doubt I will attempt it again.

Service was terrible. Bouncer told us that they probably don't have tables and that my son couldn't sit in the bar. Hostess frowned and said they'd try to get us a table in 5-10 minutes. We left after 10 when she kept walking by us. I guess they're really confident in their younger, bar business and don't need established, more mature (older) business.

We came here to celebrate dropping out daughter off to college in DC. Got there towards the end of happy hour and there was a good crowd. Our reserved table was ready and our waitress was very efficient and friendly. Food was really good & tasty, and everything was very reasonably priced.
Charles, the manager, was great. He greeted us and took the time to make sure our experience was perfect. We really enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone looking for that good Irish pub feeling, with dark wood, lots of nooks & crannies, plenty of seating, a good happy hour scene, good food, and friendly service.

We chose Fado because they offered boxtys on the menu. While very tasty, we wished they had been more traditional. Good stuff regardless!

The food at Fado was great. Everyone enjoyed their meals. It was getting in that was the issue. I had made a dinner reservation not knowing that after a certain time, the restaurant became 21+. We had two teenagers with us that the bouncer did not want to let in. I tried to explain that we had a dinner reservation, and eventually he went and got the manager who let us in. I had made the reservation thinking it was a good place for the kids to get burgers after a long day - it would have been nice to know that this would be an issue when making the reservation so I could have made other plans. However, the burgers and lamb sandwich were enjoyed by all.

When dining at an Irish Pub I expect to be served by Irish or Irish American staff in much the same way I am served by Chinese at a Chinese resturant. Under current laws, Fado can hire Irish and Irish Americans to fill the shoes of its workers as a business necessity.

The food was good and the service prompt. The decent value although a little pricey for the portions though not out of line for DC. The only downside and thus my less than "good" rating was the rules, or lack there of, for carding patrons as they entered. The main doors to the restaurant were locked so you had to enter through the bar. You would think everyone would be asked for ID or no one but that was not the case. Three folks, much younger than me, entered ahead of me and walked straight up the stairs and sat at the bar with no trouble and no request for ID. Upon entry I was immediately stopped for an ID. While I struggled with gloves and fished through my purse for my wallet two more folks, about my age (mid-40's) walked right by into the restaurant. I asked why they hadn't been asked for ID and was flippantly told "they looked old enough". I was agitated but decided not to make an issue of it since I had finally found my ID and spotted my dining party. However, upon relaying the experience to them I discovered that two of the four had the same thing ust happen and the only thing we all had in common was that we're African-American. Needless to say none of us was pleased, most especially the two people who hadn't been carded. In the end we decided to enjoy our meal but to consider a different place the next time we were in the area and needed a casual bite to eat.
