Love how personalized the service is here!
It was and awesome experience! Good food, great service, great atmosphere. I would definitely go there again.
Great atmosphere, delicious food and nice crowd. Good place for many occasions.
Television volume way too loud. Could not have a conversation with our business associates.
The Guinness was a little flat.
We only ordered appetizers which were nice but nothing to write home about.
We had a birthday celebration with 8 family members from Wisconsin and Maryland. Food, service and ambience were fantastic. Looking forward to our next visit to Fado's when we return to Chicago.
Fado is known as one of the top Irish pubs in Chicago but also boasts a fantastic menu.
Always great food and exceptional service!!!
It's all about the amazing food! Oh and the harp beer! A++++++++++++++++ 😊
Amazing……food was incredible!!!!! Warm and friendly atmosphere! Needs 30 stars!!!!!!!!
The food and drink specials were great, but my friends and I were seated in a corner of the restaurant next to a large table of people who were very loud, and the table was awkwardly placed. When walking around the restaurant the rest of it was noticeably quieter.
Lover of Fado for a long time. Noticed the menu has changed but it worked. I just love the vibe here. Lots of fun after-hours. We will always stop here when we visit Chicago.
AWESOME EXPERIENCE : Read why. Reserved table via open table. Reserved table was on stairway to the upstairs. Not ideal or workable for our intended special night out. I walked both upstairs and downstairs for options. Staff immediately allowed my choice to facilitate table location switch - that turned out to helped create the most amazing 3 hours I've had in 30 years. Vibe, customers, music, atmosphere, helpfulness of EVERY member of the staff we encountered was 10 - on a 1-10 scale. Candidly, everything was perfect, when I needed it to be perfect. Location, Staff, Atmosphere, Simple menu was wide ranging but not overwhelming. Food was great, and our server was a discreet, fast moving, professional, attentive excellent representative for this business operation. Oh, also, pricing was more than reasonable.
This is a MUST visit and try for any Chicago area outing. Thanks Tim/Jane TeamUS !
FYI: for management; our table was upstairs, corner table/booth by front window and faux fire.
7pm-945pm Sat 1/28/17 Please tell our awesome waitress we said hello & THX !
In Chicago for a wedding and were staying not to far from there. They accomidated my mother in wheelchair and set us up a table, calling it the VIP table. The Irish breakfast was to die for and the hospitality was absolutely wonderful!! Steve, his brother John, as well as all the gals made it all worth while. SO glad we went, and the Guiness, well, that spoke for itself!! Go if you have a chance...worth every bit!! Thanks again to you all who were so helpful with our mom, and for showing us the history upstairs in the womans bathroom...very cool!! :)
Reserved table was ready upon arrival. Waitress was friendly and helpful. Fish n Chips was great!
Great pub! The staff was friendly and helpful. They got my friend's order wrong but they were apologetic and quick to make it right. Great comfort food and cocktails! Big TVs to catch a game.
We had a great time celebrating two birthdays in one evening at Fado. Our server was totally awesome! The food is superbly tasty for "pub-grub" using excellent ingredients and taking fresh approaches to usually blah UK fare. Love the decor and attentive staff. Great place to have a hearty laugh over a hearty stout!
The bacon pepper jack cheese puff appetizer is outstanding!!!!
Interesting, when we arrived at our Open Table time, we were told the establishment no longer honored Open Table reservations, said they had dropped Open Table month ago. I showed them my reservations, owner ...Tom came out and we chatted. He graciously got us a reserved table and the evening turned out very good. It was World Cup night and the place was packed, but he found us a table.
Wonderful selection of beers on tap!
Went here for brunch Easter Sunday and had the full Irish breakfast while my wife tried the shepard's pie. Both were incredible and well prepared. This pub also pours a proper pint of Guinness alongside notable Irish brews: Magners, Harp, & Smithwick's. I tried their Irish coffee for dessert and was pleased they used real cream with cinnamon sprinkled on top. If you are looking for a traditional pub with great drinks, food, and atmosphere you don't have to search elsewhere.
I love Irish Pubs and have been to Fado's a couple times and had the opportunity to bring a few co-workers with me while working in town. Guinness was on site doing "pouring" lessons so our group got to pour our own beer which they gave to us at no charge plus gave us cool hats. I was a bit disappointed in the shepherds pie but the appetizers were good as were the burgers.
Excellent service for such a crowded place.
Manager also checked on us as well. Good food, good beer.
Our server April was so friendly and helpful. The food was amazing! And my husband loved the extensive whiskey menu! Great atmosphere!
Had a blast with my out of town guests. Fado is authentic as it gets. Hope to be back soon with my husband just to hang out!
This is one of my favorite Irish pubs and my go-to whenever I am in Chicago. The layout is spread across three stories, providing several different types of seating areas (e.g. bar, high tops, restaurant-style tables, booths, etc). Most of the staff are direct imports from Ireland, giving the place a very authentic feel. The beer list is excellent as are the traditional Irish menu items. It's a great place to catch an international football game or some live music. Or, just to entire a few pints with friends.
Highly recommended.
The staff was fantastic & the food was enjoyable. Will come back. We would recommend this spot to family & friends
I'd heard of this bar for years and wrote it off as just another River North scene-y bar. But I finally went for after work drinks on a Friday, and I was wrong. The ambiance is a cozy Irish pub, lots of hardwood, Irish music, and Guinness and Jameson drinks. The happy hour specials are incredible: $5 old fashioneds and manhattans, $6 Irish coffees, and $5 appetizers that are more than just bite-sized. Great place for a drink and appetizer!
The food was great and served in large portions. The service was great too.
A winner all around. Food was spot on in an authentic pub atmosphere.
I think I had the very best fish n chips I have ever had. And that's saying something, because I am an aficionado of that particular dish and sample it whenever possible. I have had some terrific versions and some awful ones and everything in between. This place made the best one in all my years of living. Wonderful lager too, just can't remember the name. But the server was very knowledgeable and I simply asked for a lager that would pair well with my entree. I only didn't give it 5 stars because it was incredibly crowded and noisy. No fault of the pub - goes to show how popular it is. But you can't go wrong if you want a top notch Irish Pub!
The food is always stupendous and just the perfect amount so I'm not stuffed. And it always manages to come out actually looking like the advertised pictures!
Loved it! Went back two more times during our stay in Chicago! Awesome place, good food, best cold beer around, friendly staff! We can't wait to go back on our next trip!
really wanted to find a good pub for fish and chips and really good beer with a fun old world environment. nailed it! i am picky about food and was so pleased with the beautiful delicious salad that came with my husbands shepherd pie. my fish and chips were perfect and a nice size order. our waitress was very attentive and refreshed our beer and the place was full of fun people. great treat for us!
Wonderful if you are looking for pub-grub which leans slightly to traditional Irish. The tap list is great, and there's even more in bottles. The service is excellent. The only reason I didn't give it 4 stars is with high ceilings and all hard wood surfaces, it's a noisy place to have conversation.
Does not compare to the Irish music found in pubs in Ireland, and very few food choices that are truly Irish.
Food is good, large choice, mostly large tables so we had to share with another couple, and all of the tables were high so could not rest my feet on the floor.
Fado has it all, great décor, plenty of space, strong drinks and great beer as well as amazing food. Our server the last time went well above and beyond. Also, you must have the Corn Beef Spring Roll appetizer (or two).
The bartender looked at me like I was crazy when I said we had a reservation for 7 @ 6:30. They didn't have the Open Table reservation, but they did have a table. The waitress came right over and took our drink order. She was awesome! She was lively, took time with each person to help them pick the right beer (and they have quite a selection). She explained the menu and provided recommendations and she was dead on. This is not your typical Corned Beef and Cabbage! The chef definitely kicks it up. We had the salmon bites, pork belly tacos, Guiness bbq wings to start. All hits with this group. For dinner we chose the pulled lamb french dip, sheppards pie, chicken & shrimp boxty, fish & chips and corned beef and swiss. The group was totally impressed with the food and drink. Best of all they played awesome music and we had a great time. We all agreed this was a hit and a must on our next trip back to Chicago!
This place is a gem! I was visiting from Milwaukee with a friend and we loved it so much we stopped in 2 times throughout the day! Everything was fantastic from the food, bartenders and Guinness! I felt like I was back in Ireland! This is my new Chicago fav and I will be back!! Sláinte!!
