Love Fado. Sucks that it is closing after St. Patrick's Day. Really disappointed to find that out. Very very sad. My Austin is slowly disappearing.
Best Irish Pub we have been to in Texas!! Not only is the decor straight from the old country, the food, service, and hospitality are as well. We always dine here when attending events near downtown, but also go for date nights. Weekends will often feature live music, which just enhances the experience. A must for anyone wanting to be Irish! Salante!!
This is a great location for watching sports with your friends. Lots of excitement and tons of tvs. The thing i love most about it is the fact that it’s a sports bar yet cozy. Those two things are difficult to find at the same time. We love it here!
We had to cancel our trip to Ireland at the last minute, and while NOT in Ireland, Fado served as an awesome substitute for amazing food and Guinness!
Great food and very friendly wait staff. Highly recommend this Pub for a night out with friends
All around good no complaints
Excellent place to reboot and enjoy some drinks with ac meal. Guinness girls showed up and gave away free drinks which always makes the night better and the meal.
This restaurant is definitely a pub and should not be on OpenTable as taking reservations as no one working there has any knowledge of a host/hostess stand much less a reservation or reserved table. If there was a wait we could have had an issue because we had a show time after our 'reserved' dinner time. And service was blasé enough to make it tight even though we sat immediately. Thankfully the food was very good and drinks were fun.
Cleaned our own tables, made reservations a week in advance and they were not prepared. I don't honestly know why they use open table. Our waitress had to be asked 3 times for most things. All in all I should rate it worse but the person we went there for loves it and the Guinness (not cheap) was good!
Delicious food with a laid-back atmosphere. Server was personable.
Great dinner date place! Filling meals at an affordable price.
Lots of fun, but 'cozy'; not the place for claustrophobes.
Worst experience possible. This place called me 3 hrs to my reservation (8 people, celebration, came from over an hour away) to tell me they forgot that they were having a stewfest and they might be able to seat us outside. Not the best scenario; but That was fine, considering at this point-it's Saturday in Austin and having a party of this size we would not be able to get reservations anywhere else.
At 729 we called to let them know our cab took the wrong street and we would be 10-15 minutes late. The girl on the phone said no problem, and thanks for the heads up.
At 741 we show up, only to be told they can't give us a table.
My husband has done 5 tours overseas in the US army. This was his first celebration home for his birthday. We had family and friends plan this for weeks.
This place sucks. If you have any family or friends in any service, don't go here. If there was a problem they could of told us when we called to say we were running late.
There were no apologies, suggestions.
Thanks Fado for being the worst restaurant experience on OpenTable possible.
Loved the atmosphere and service was great! The traditional Irish decorations and menu made for a wonderful evening!
Excellent as always!!
The service was incredible per usual.
I have the corned beef & cabbage big plate chased down with a couple of Irish coffees whenever I visit. The wife loved the fish & chips with Guinness.
This pub was like a traditional Irish pub, but a bit quieter. The food was good, but nothing special. Drinks were alright. This place isn't bad, but we might have came on a quiet day.
The service, atmosphere and dining experience was delightful. It was our anniversary and the staff made us feel welcome and comped our dessert
I've NEVER been to a more ANNOYING restaurant in my life. The entire evening there was a REDICULOUS trivia game going on. Geeks everywhere who apparently regularly play. A guy with a microphone screaming out questions and answers from a stage right next to the table! Couldn't have polite dinner conversation! Why leave that table there for someone to sit at or why not warn us??!?!?!? INSANE environment. Food fine. Drink menu fine. Atmosphere HORRIBLE!
I decided to eat here based on the menu that I read online. I've always loved Irish fare and this pub has that along with some American favorites with an Irish touch. I had the corned beef and cabbage big plate myself and it was simply outstanding. The Irish coffee was great and the dessert, hot fudge brownie with Guinness ice cream, was out of this world.
Stopped here after the Austin Celtic Festival. The food was good but not amazing. They had many Irish options, and we were impressed with the range. Traditional breakfast was really good.
Servers were VERY friendly and attentive.
Some of it generically resembles pubs I've visited in England and Ireland. But the whole place was cozy, friendly, and pleasant.
The food was great! The portions were quite large and the batter on the fish was the best I've had.
We are not from austin so picked fado restaurant from the Web site. LOVED it. Thought the decor was awesome and our food was great. We were there early evening for dinner so we would love to go back and experience the live music.
We had made a reservation for a group of seven via Open Table. Confirmed via email. I even called and spoke to the manager to confirm they had gluten free options and that we would be in the following evening. When we arrived, we were met by no one and wandered around until I was able to get the attention of one of the bartenders. She informed me that the tables had the names of the reservation holders on them - we just needed to find our table. We walked around a couple of times and did not find our name anywhere. After flagging down the bartender again, she got us some assistance - only to be told they didn't have our reservation. Hmmm. They created a space for us by pulling together two small round tables. Ah well. We were determined to enjoy ourselves, and due to the great company, we did! It was a while before we were acknowledged by the waiter and it seemed he struggled the whole time with being prompt and responsive. It became a joke anytime we went to request something, because someone would raise their hand to make a request and he would quickly walk off. That said, the food was good, the drinks were enjoyable - best of all we didn't let any of it keep us from having a great time. It seems like a nice place, and I'll definitely give it another try.
My wife and I like Irish Pubs and have visited this one twice. First experience was good. This second time was not so good. Although the place was almost empty, the staff got the food order wrong and it WAY too long to get our meal.
We were looking for a great place to try a variety of whisk(e)y, local and others. This was the place. The food was great Irish Pub fare and the service was wonderful. Would recommend!
Went to Fado for a birthday dinner with a group of friends. Everyone had a great time, loved the food, and went away full! My friends were late and the manager sat down and chatted with me for a few minutes, even bought me a birthday shot! Our waitress was awesome, checked up on us just enough & was just very fun & sweet. Great place for any occasion or night out!
We were there prior to catching a show at Bass Hall. The Happy Hour specials were extremely reasonable and the portions were generous. The service was excellent. We had no need to be anxious about getting out the door on time to make the show.
From the beer to the food to the adorable outdoor patio, Fado's was everything we hoped it would be. The wait staff was very attentive, even if we were the only ones sitting outside. And everything was relatively affordable and delicious.
