We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and the service , and the special attentiveness of the chef to dietary restrictions. The only negative, which may not be true every night but happened on this weeknight, was the noise level. A nearby party of ten nearly ruined our evening with their loud frequent shrieks of laughter.
The food was excellent, and the owner/manager, Kimi, is a total delight. The ambiance is excellent as is the convenient downtown Hollywood location. FACE was the perfect choice for an international business dinner for eight guests. I recommend in the highest possible terms!
The food was fabulous, presentation stunning, wine excellent and after dinner drink amazing! This was one of the best restaurants we have eaten at. The staff was very personably and prompts with everything. We could not have had a more enjoyable evening. This is a gem...how Hollywood got them I have no idea. This Resturant is as good if not better then many top returants in Miami.
We enjoyed both our appetizers and main course. Clearly the food is well prepared with the freshest ingredients. Decent wine collection. Only small complaint was slow waiter service (like in any European restaurant). I would likely have consumed one or two more glasses of wine if the waiter had been more attentive to my empty glass. Anyhow, we highly recommend this gem of a restaurant.
I was combing through Yelp! trying to find a suitable place in Hallendale or Hollywood to have dinner with old friends I worked with 30 years ago in New York. I wanted it to be special but had a hard time finding just the right restaurant, until I read the reviews for Face. It seemed to be the only place that really combined fine food and excellent service at a not-too-crazy price. Face exceeded my expectations in every way. The restaurant was quiet, allowing us to have a relaxing meal and enjoy our conversation, and the service was friendly and excellent. But it's the food that stole the show. This is world class French fare, and the both the presentation and taste are something to rave about. I had the Coq Au Vin, and it was at par with any I've had anywhere (including France). My friends (one of whom is of French Moroccan descent) were equally happy. I live in Miami, but this will be my go-to place anytime I head north on 95!
No question best restaurant in Hollywood.
Best muscles with pasta I ever ate and I've been to The French Laundry so many times I cancelled my reservation last time for The French Laundry. My wife's Coq Au Vin was also incredible.
Service was very welcoming and friendly but it's the food that is amazing. Who would think that a French Chef who really knows how to cook would end up in Hollywood, FL. If you have to be in Hollywood you would nuts not to eat dinner here.
It took 1 and a half hours to get 2 appetizers, we actually ended up not ordering dinner because the appetizers took so long. The appetizers were ok - nothing to rave about. The blue crab stuffed pastry was good. Steak flatbread not so much.
Food was excellent and well prepared Pretty presentation too. Only complaint is the pairings - for example got the duck which is a greasy meat and the accompanyments were also greasy - Would've liked a drier component to soak up some of the oils.
Dessert was amazing. Our waiter was enthusiastic and very helpful as was the owner's wife. I would go back but order a little differently.
Some of the best food I've ever had. We travel a lot and have been to many places in many countries and I must say the food here was superb. We've never written a review before but had to for this restaurant. Amazing food, wonderful service, and pleasant surroundings. A 5 star. We will be back.
One of the most fabulous French meals I have ever eaten. I felt like I was eating in Paris. The Coq van and the bouillabaisse was outstanding. The best French food in southern Florida. The owners michell and Kim are warm and welcoming. You feel like you're eating in their home. That wonderful restaurant in Hollywood
The restaurant deserves better surroundings. Very good food and interesting modernistic style settings. But the wine was just terrible. The pinot noir from southern France should not have been recommended by the waiter. That choice ruined the whole dinner. Too bad.
COME HERE!! This place is amazing and the service is the best in Hollywood. We came in around 19:00 for dinner. Our waiter started us out with complimentary flute of champagne .We ordered the escargot, Steak special chef, and otentic pasta. I really loved how the escargot was presented. The Steak was perfect.Get the otentic pasta!! This was literally the best pasta I've had in my entire life!
This restaurant makes a point of showing you that your food is purchased daily and fresh. My Dover sole special was excellent but perhaps a little pricey. My wife's salmon was also great and perhaps more reasonably priced. The French atmosphere was nice and we easily found a place to park, which can be a problem at times for this location. Overall a nice place but pay attention to the prices.
Came here with my family - 2 kids and 2 adults. The ambiance was spectacular with subdued lighting and very exclusive atmosphere. The hostess was very friendly with a great sense of humor. She made us feel like we were part of the family. The food looked and tasted spectacular! Presentation- very special! Desert - amazing! I want to come back every week!
This place is very nice but the food is just OK. Don't know if it was just the Valentine's Day special serving. Why wouldn't they serve ice cream with the brownies? Seems obvious. Maybe their regular menu stuff is better. But we don't feel we got the value for what we paid for. We might come back some time on a regular day. Maybe.
A wonderful french couple own this restaurant. Michelle is the chef and Kimi does everything else. The food was great and Kimi made us feel like family the entire evening. It is not inexpensive but it is an excellent value. If you like french food, and you are in the Fort Lauderdale area, Face is a must try.
We were in town for one night and saw the reviews and available reservation for "Face" so we thought we'd try it. We were greeted by "Kimi", the owner and wife of Chef Michel. We loved the ambience with white sheer curtains separating intimate booths and tables, very trendy and romantic. It is a small restaurant with a nice little bar. It was obvious they were shorthanded that night but they tried to accommodate us as quickly as possible which is why I rated them a little lower on the service. The presentation of food is beautiful, especially the appetizers (tomato carpaccio). It was the prettiest Cesar salad I have ever been served! I would go back and have already recommended to friends who live in the area.
One downfall....there is no parking except for what you can find on the street. There are so many restaurants and bars in the area so parking is at a premium. Walk, cab or uber it there!
Although we had dined at F.A.C.E. several times in the past, this was our first Saturday evening attendance. The food was as yummy as ever however, the service left a lot to be desired. The main offence was that this lovely restaurant did not have enough staff to adequately service the full capacity crowd! We enjoyed two appetizers: the gravelox and the tomato carpaccio with mushrooms and shaved parmesan drizzled with a wonderful balsamic reduction. Our salmon grilled to perfection and the flounder crusted with pecans were both delicious. Dessert was their recommended profiteroles...we were not disappointed. We definitely will be back at F.A.C.E. in the near future.
The reviews for this restaurant, as well as a recent trip to Paris had set my expectations very high for FACE (French American Culinary Experience). I was therefore disappointed. The food was good, but not great or excellent. The service was very good, and the wait staff enthusiastic.
Other details... The wine list is limited, and nothing to brag about. There were no seafood specializes, and the excuse given was that it was too busy to have them on Saturday. Excuse me? That is THE day to have specials so that the food is sold out. My fish (corvina) was good, the sauce very good, but a it was a little dry. The crème brûlée was good, but not great... the caramel masked the delicate vanilla flavor of the cream, and it was served too cold. We were not comfortable in the stylish high-top type seating.
All in all, the food was good, that is, better than traditional American food, but compared to food in France, or even Montreal, it was inferior, and therefore overpriced.
