Dinner: T-Su 5:00pm-10:00pm
Servers are lovely. The back garden is great!
I've dinned at fable about a dozen times now. i'm never disappointed. Always great food and always superb service. Love the fact the noise level is always low . My favorite restaurant in the Castro and maybe San Francisco.
Very lovely first date; the waiter had to interrupt us several times to get our order... our apologies to him.
Not great food. Nice atmosphere but the food was adequate to not very good. Nothing special for the prices.
Slow sloppy service. Chaotic. The cheeseburger for brunch had cheap yellow American cheese. Yuk! Lovely patio, but poor service and mediocre food don’t make up. Won’t return or recommend.
Fable is our new favorite place! We love the food and service! Excellent place for small get togethers!
Was a great night full of celebration and good food! Glad I found this place, also found a great dessert wine because of it!
First time here for brunch and it was awesome!!!
Delicious food and drinks. Love the patio
We drove from the Central Valley to celebrated Pride and escape the heat! Fable was out first stop for the day, the food and service set the tone for them day! GREAT!
We started with fried banana 🍌 bread 🍞 DELICIOUS! We then shared a bay Shrimp omelette and French Toast with fresh berries and home made whipped cream that was amazing with the French Toast and syrup!
Service was attentive and friendly, we’ll be back!!
First time at Fable and I hope to be back. Good food, nice presentation and intense flavors. I had the duck breast, perfectly medium rare and succulent. My partner’s halibut was tender and flaky. They offer wine recommendations, which I followed, and was very happy with my choice. And get the squash blossoms if they have them - awesome. Overall a great spot for a good meal in the Castro.
Great local restaurant for taking a break from shopping or going to the theater.
Wonderful drinks and dessert with great service!
Great neighborhood spot.
Thank you so much for having us celebrate a surprise party for a close friend’s upcoming graduation! I’m sure we were a bit extra with our banners and table decor, but sincerely was grateful for Fable to allow us to decorate the space of ours. Our friend loved it and appreciated the kindness and service of Fable :-)
Great for brunch or special occasion dinner. Outdoor patio is quite lovely and has heaters. Interesting menu. A bit on the pricey side, but the menu is interesting and portions are good. Lovely service as well.
Many of the printed menu items were not available or had substituted items that changed the whole character of the entree. One of the chefs was shouting at staff members in an angry sounding voice through the whole meal, which was upsetting.
very pricy for the service and the fiod. food was nice but totally overrated.
Great staff Ins excellent food. What's not to like
I loved the upbeat friendly atmosphere. From the engaging staff to the delicious food, I give Fable 5 stars. I had the soft shell crab benedict, and it was outstanding. Be sure to try the seasonal mimosa. 😋
The atmosphere is really nice. Service was pretty bad. Too much attitude from the server the whole time. The food was ok. I would not go back for Dinner again especially for special occasion but their brunch is usually good.
Took a long time to greet table then food showed before drinks did. No water was served until after food was delivered. My burger was wrong. Had to ask for more water. Not sure if they were short staffed or what but was really disappointed.
First time to go and glad we did. Excellent service, great food that was generous and well prepared. A really nice menu that is changed with some frequency to keep it fresh. A great spot if you're looking to dine in the Castro.
The staff was friendly and the food was delicious. They were good portions. The only thing I didn't care for was the wine...
Food was way under seasoned. Outdoor seating was cute but the benches are worn and broken down and very uncomfortable
There is a charming outdoor patio, and everywhere you look there is something to remind you of the restaurant's name, Fable. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The food is special, but also familiar and classic. Being able to make brunch reservations is also a plus.
I eat at Fable often. I've never been disappointed. Their menus is always changing and always inventive. the service is always welcoming and professional. The atmosphere is warm and inviting.
We’d requested outdoor seating, but the weather shifted, so we were seated indoors, in a narrow passage— it made it difficult to have a quiet conversation, and to hear my soft-spoken friend.
We had three appetizers and one dessert, with no alcohol, and three beverages. The bill was over $60, which seems excessive to me.
I was there with two of my friends for Dining Out event. I’ve eaten at Fable before and didn’t think the menu was all hat memorable but this time the food was excellent!! The wine was the best a 2009 Ridge Geyserville blend. Shared the duck and seafood plates with friend and next time won’t share the duck with anyone!! The beans in the fish dish was amazing. Must go back soon!!!
My friend and I went to Fable for a fundraiser (Dining Out For Life). And what a wonderful place. My friend and I had Sparkling Rose' wine. Our dinner consent of (mines) Pan roasted Organic Chicken Breast with sweet black Thai rice (I was really stepping out of my comfort zone with the rice but it was very tasty) and Grilled Asparagus. My friend had the house special, Garlic Pesto Flat Noodles with Shrimps. And for dessert Strawberry Short cake. There are no words to say how good the Strawberry Short cake was, you just have to taste for yourself. My friend and I enjoyed ourselves so much that we will be going back with other friends. See you soon.
I thought it was odd that Open Table would let us make a 2:00 reservation, when the kitchen closes at 2:00. Aside from being rushed to order, the service wasn't great and the whole thing just felt really rushed and uncomfortable.
Our first time there. Had brunch on the back patio. Service was good, if a little slow, but very pleasant. Food was great, but we ended up doubling up on just a couple of items - so we had a limited experience; but what we had was delicious. The seasonal mimosa was pomegranate - very delicious, but could have had a stronger pomegranate flavor. Ambience out back was perfect for catching up and just relaxing. Very happy and am looking forward to returning and trying more options.
Our dinner for two was very pleasant. The wait staff was attentive, not intrusive. The food was nicely prepared, the fish dish especially had nice presentation. Loved the strawberry shortcake. They were great about accommodating my friend's dietary restrictions. Wish there had been a little more to choose from on the dinner menu, but not if it would cut into the quality!
The patio was busy but the food arrived on time. Staff was very helpful. Everyone loved their meal we highly recommend Fables!!
We had a lovely brunch on the backyard patio. My burger had delicious charbroil flavor and was quite a sight to see! The wine selection was spot on. Classic spot with a sophisticated–yet neighborhoody—feel in the Castro.
Great brunch spot , especially with our 8 month daughter.
Fable is my favorite restaurant in the Castro. It's not quite 5 star, but it's close. The food is delicious, the service is good, and the atmosphere is great. It's very cozy, they have a lovely back patio, and the wine list is unusual in a good way. I get either the fish option or vegan option (which change periodically) and they're always good. They can usually accommodate gluten free as well. I will continue to come here often!
Came here for an early quiet dinner with family - to be honest, my first impression wasn't great. For a place that boasts story/fairy tale themes, it was pretty lacking - however, we were seating inside so I can't comment on decor for outside seating - seems to be the preferred choice.
They have a concise menu with a couple specials - we had a avocado jicama salad (very refreshing), beet salad, prosciutto and asparagus (well-cooked but nothing special), and pork cheek (a little salty for my taste, paired well with wine at the jicama salad).
For entrees, we had the porkchop, lamb, and seared tuna. Portions were hearty for the price and the pork was cooked well, spot on medium rare and medium temps. The lamb came as 4 lollipops, it was good but a little on the charred side and not cut cleanly. The tuna was paired with a pear salad that was good, refreshing.
Overall, it was a surprisingly good experience. The service was pretty slow - dinner took just over 2 hours with one server in the front and one in the outside seating. I would probably come back again to try their items when they change their seasonal menu.
84 year old Birthday
Farm to table menu hits all the delicious spots...chef creates wonderful food! This small, intimate restaurant makes conversation easy and the service was friendly.
Love this place and the people
Food was amazing and if you can sit on their patio. The patio is so nice and its well lit and there are enough heaters around to keep you warm even with wind. Food was out of control good and the servers were really nice and funny also which made for a fun night. We had 3 starters and 4 main dishes with a few glasses of wine and everything was really good.
