Awesome food and great service! We will definitely be back. Great place for date night
First time at Fable and for a sort of romantic date. It fit the bill in all regards. Creative and good menu. Service was pleasant and non-intrusive while getting the job done. Prices are good and competitive with similar restaurants in the area. Cozy and charming. We'd recommend and return.
Amazing covered outdoor area. Great food and service. Also found plenty of street parking in the area.
Friendly service. Slightly pricey.
Beautiful ambiance, friendly attentive staff and delicious food. Couldn’t ask for more!
back porch dining was amazing ! totally romantic for a valentines dinner . will be back for brunch this weekend . if we can make a reservation for the back patio ?

Fable exceeded expectations, the staff made myself and my date very comfortable and we had a very special Valentine’s Day.
They were out of crab cakes so offered to add some crab to the citrus salad, which turned out to be one small bite. They charged an additional $12! Server was great but we were appalled by that food experience.
Love Fable. Cute outdoor seating, delicious food, and great service. Seemed slightly understaffed, but the waitress maintained a positive attitude. Can't wait to come back.
We had a lovely brunch on the back terrace. The red quinoa with eggs was amazing !
The food is aleays great!
Really NOISEY grooup, especially the women.
Not appropriate for the place.
One of our main go-to’s. Always good.
The patio was very nice! We ordered the french toast with side of eggs and potatoes. The french toast was very delicious unlike the regular ones that are so stuffy. The potatoes were delicious and the eggs were cooked exactly like we asked for! Points for that! The patio is heated if that's something you are looking for! Overall a pretty nice place to try out when in castro. One of the few brunch places that take reservation!
Grabbed brunch here while my parents were visiting from out of town. Overall had a great experience--the food was good, service was quick and friendly, and the ambience was perfect for a casual Saturday morning brunch.
LOVE Fable. I have been here twice for dinner. Sat inside once and sat outside in their spacious, whimsical outdoor area in the back. Everything on the menu is delish. The mac and cheese is a must and a worthwhile splurge for any dieters in the house. I have been dying to go for brunch, but haven't quite made it back yet. It is HIGH on my list of city faves for date night or an evening with friends. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.
I've been going here for 25 years through countless metamorphoses, some good, some not so much. Fable has some issues but the space is still delightful (on the patio) for a quiet dinner. The staff is very attentive and friendly without being obtrusive. I was disappointed by the food but I'd it was good enough that I'd go back and try again.
Had delicious burgers and fries. (We asked for them extra crispy and our fries were PERFECT! Inventive, lovely endive salad for a starter. We each had meh glasses of wine, but the rest of the meal was outstanding.
Limited menu, but friendly staff make up for a lack of selection. Mimosa selection is fun and seasonal. We had blood orange. Seating is limited in the garden and seating inside tends to be cramped and noisy.
Always a line for the bathroom during Sunday brunches due to the mimosas...
Amazing food, amazing ambiance! Had a group of 8 and it was the same quality meal as a romantic date for two
Our waiter was friendly and the food presentation was good. But I ordered a special of the night, pot roast, and was pretty flabbergasted at the price - $35. Pot Roast doesn't use expensive meat. Though the portion was big, the meat itself was dry and there wasn't enough "glaze". Granted, I didn't ask what the price was. Our other problem with the restaurant was with the front-door service. We arrived 15 minutes early and would've liked to have been seated, if possible. We waited 10 minutes at the front of the restaurant and nobody came up to us. We witnessed an argument between the cooking and wait staff during that time. Finally, we left, annoyed and planning to find another place to eat. That didn't work out, and only then did we return. When we came back, the maitre'd did come up and seat us, and order appeared to have been restored.
Fable never has let me down. Excellent neighborhood place for a few apps and a glass of wine at the bar, or a romantic evening with someone special next to the fire on the patio. Ether way you can’t go wrong!
Loved this place. We had to wait a little bit to get seated outside (we could have immediately sat down inside) but it was worth the wait. Ambiance, food, and service were all excellent.
Always our top choice for a great meal in the Castro! The food, the magical back garden and the friendly staff make for a great time every time.
Fable is a quiet little place that puts the customer's interests at heart. Freshly made offerings, perfect portions, and just the right amounts of seasoning bring this food to life. Great spot for dates, friends, or everyday life.
Great for Brunch.
I've been here for both brunch and dinner, and the experience has overall been good. However, I can no longer recommend this place after the very poor service my party received tonight.
Excellent food! If you ever find yourself in the Castro Distict, definitely check Fable out.
Most of the food was actually outstanding, but the entrees were slow to come out and when they arrived, two of them were badly overcooked. They did comp us an extra appetizer while those two diners waited for their food to be redone, but it felt like if they’d been paying us a little more attention in general, the whole problem might have been avoided. And at those prices, I’m less forgiving of this sort of error.
Had a great time as usual, but Marda (?) was an excellent server who cared more than most I've encountered in a long time! She was delightful, knew the menu, took care of things timely, and was overall really terrific! The food was good as it always is, but the service won for overall excellence this time around!!
Outstanding NYE meal! However, we made our reservation two weeks in advance, at which time there was no indication on open table or their website that there would be a mandatory pre-fix menu to the tune of $95/person (not including any alcohol!), so that was a bit of a shock when we arrived. The food was delicious and the outdoor patio made for wonderful ambiance....but we did feel a bit gouged.
We hadn't been to Fable for awhile. It's even better than before. The outside patio seating is lovely. Waitstaff is friendly and attentive. Pancakes for brunch were delicious.
Delicious meal, lovely wine, easy to access location and excellent service. Definitely recommend the restaurant!
This has become my go-to brunch place after a date showed me this spot! It's close to my home, the back outdoor seating is phenomenal! It's such a beautiful vibe. The food, I'd rate is OK to good, nothing special or over the top. The restaurant itself is not too loud and great to have a catch-up conversation with friends.
I'm afraid Fable wasn't what I'd hoped. The best thing about it is the atmosphere of their lovely patio. It's fun to bundle up under a heat lamp and gaze around at the plants and the folks. I would describe the food with the same three words I use for most SF restaurants lately: unremarkable, salty, expensive. I've heard their specialty is roasted shishito peppers. Somehow I missed them on the menu, but it's kind of elementary for a speciality, no?
The waiter was poor in terms of customer service. The manager didn’t care.
We ordered quinoa with duck confit for 17. We got quinoa. The waiter didn’t tell us why. When we asked him we were told that it wasn’t available. When we asked him why he didn’t tell us upfront. He said he forgot. Really?
They didn’t even take time to update the menu or tell me upfront. Did they think I’m an idiot who wouldn’t notice the missing duck confit and pay 17 for a bowl of quinoa????
I’m not going to his place if they intend to mislead customers and rip them off.
If there was a rating for 0 , they would get it
I live nearby and have been wanting to try Fable since it opened. Although not really any savory vegetarian options, the kitchen accommodated my request to replace the ham on the eggs Benedict with avocado. We started with a the apple scone. It came out warm with some very good butter and it was delicious. My fellow guests were happy with the burgers they ordered and I really enjoyed my dish. The server was very busy but he gave us good service. We really enjoyed sitting outside and had a lovely experience. It's nice to find a good place (good food and not packed and loud) in my neighborhood for brunch!
It was a wonderful evening with a perfect italian vine and delicious food.
The service is very very good. We tried many wines and the advice to choose the right one was more than just friendly. It was awesome! All staff are very friendly :)
We enjoyed our stay very much. Thank you so much for that experience!
I came here last minute looking for a romantic Friday night meal, and was so pleasantly surprised! The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and it is a really cute, cozy space. I live close by, and somehow never noticed it. They have high quality wines, and seasonal meals. I had a delicious salad and piece of fish, and my boyfriend had an organic chicken dish that he demolished. We'll be back for sure.
Great food and terrific service. Convenient spot in the heart of the Castro.
