Fabbrica Ratings and Reviews
Brought my mother in law celebrating her 95th birthday - what a HUGE mistake. The dinner was ok. At the end of the meal my wife approached our server and asked her to bring a special dessert with a candle. What she brought out - a single Oreo cookie on a plate with a Happy Birthday and a single candle - was an embarrassment and quite frankly, why we’ll never return to this restaurant. They should be ashamed!
We reserved for a 5pm/Sunday dinner. Not sure why, but we were seated in the bar area instead of the dining room, which would have been preferred. Odd considering it wasn't very busy.
Our server (although pleasant) was also the bartender.
Main complaints; we weren't checked in on by our server. Runners, served and cleared our plates. Our water glasses were never re-filled.
We ordered a bottle of wine for 4 people, when it was finished, we also weren't offered any other beverages or a second bottle.
By the time our meal was done, and the only time the server came back to our table to take our order for dessert, we couldn't be bothered and asked for our bill and left. What a waste of a birthday dinner.
We have been to Fabbrica several times and have never been disappointed. It is an excellent but not outstanding Italian restaurant. The salads were delicious and the mains that we chose were also very good. We found the vegetarian options were, however, very limited. Indeed, the menu seemed to have shifted more towards the carnivore. Dessert was very good although the gelato was average - certainly in comparison to Dolce on Danforth or, dare I say, Stella Luna in Ottawa (superb). Excellent wine list (by the glass) and the Canti Prosecco was superb.
Had a party of 10 (2 of them were kids) and the staff were very accommodating despite all my "demands" and questions. Staff were patient and attentive. Food was good, as usual. They even had the cake I ordered at McEwans ready at the restaurant without me even requesting it!
Food was fine. We had hunt down our server to take our order once we were ready as she forgot about us. Then our server left for the night and did not let us know that another server would be helping us. The new server did not know that she was taking over for our initial server. OVERPRICED for the quality and quantity of food. I would not recommend to anyone nor will I be going back.
This is my "go to" place for clients in the area as you can't go wrong with Michael McEwan's food. The salads and wood burning oven pizza were as good as ever. Our waiter was indifferent, never smiling and disengaged from his work. He waited fifteen minutes to approach us about ordering assuming a fourth person was coming without even asking in advance. Never asked us how our food was and didn't smile at other tables either. Needs to understand the concept of service with a smile as it will have a direct bearing on customer satisfaction and his own remuneration.
Decent place. Did enjoy our evening however the food wasn’t as good as I expected it to be. However our server was great. She went out of her way to make our night special.
The ambience was a bit too bright for an evening dinner reservation. Dinner was good and drinks were okay.
Always love this restaurant - and brought some good friends here this past weekend to try! They loved it as well.
I always ordered the Ravioli which is delish!
The only issue we had was I had ordered and paid for their homemade Chocolate Biscotti and they gave us a ticket. When we got home we realized they had not included it in the take home bag! Other than that it's a fabulous place to go!
Open Table was great for booking table.
The meal was hot, we'll seasoned abd prepared. Our waitress Isbell was lovely and the staff very attentive.Piping hot food should always be the norm at restaurants but it isn't.Chef Mc Ewan would not settle for any thing less.
It was our second time at Fabrica. We decided to visit it again for dinner with another couple since on the menu from the open table website it states that there is tiramisu for dessert. We had the burrata ( it was missing some big part in it-not full round piece). the two pizzas were great. Also, had the eggplant dish -it was tasty. We ordered Caesar drink and we were disappointed . We sended it back. The dinner was quite expensive and not enjoyable to the fullest.
We thought the food was delicious. A bit pricey, but felt it was worth it. The cocktails we ordered we very good and creative. Nice big menu to choose from, we though the brunch had a great offering. We sat on the patio, which was OK, it's on a bit of a busy street and the bees were a-buzzing, but the seating was comfortable. I found the bus boys a bit nervous and hesitant (just an observation, nothing wrong with that!), and our waitress was great. Will definitely go again, this time to try dinner, and will eat inside.
It was our first time there... treating my friend. ....We were initially seated in the bar area which was very breezy and too cool at 7pm...they offered to close the sliding door which I said would not be fair to other patrons..I asked for a table on the other side of the restaurant which turned out to be a lovely dining area. I think they should have asked where we preferred to be seated on arrival for I would not have chosen the bar area for a nice night out.
Our appetizer was the margherita pizza..it was excellent ! one of the best in the city!
Our entre was shrimps with scallion. It was unbelievably good..6star!! .my friend asked if it would be polite to "lick the dish" when done. Luckily there was bread to sop-up the juices.
The service was excellent...we were asked by 2 different servers how we enjoyed the meal.
The only suggestion I would make is to add some sides to the plate with the shrimp....a veggie or green would have been nice. I would have gladly paid more. The plate was too bare with one long scallion and 5 shrimp. We would have ordered a side had we known we were not getting anything else. I was a little embarrassed when the meal arrived but my friend being
polite said no to ordering a side at that point because we initially decided we wouldn't need one.
I would definitely recommend the shrimp and will go back for the the exact same meal.
We enjoyed our window seat and lovely view to the patio. The food was very good and when asked for alterations it was all good. The pizza got a great review from the two people that ordered. When the guest asked for more truffle oil it was no problem. The arcticchar was delicious and the sides good. The desert was delicious...chocolate mousse. Coffee good and overall we will return again.
