F. McLintocks Saloon & Dining House Ratings and Reviews
Excellent food and service. Would definitely recommend and go again.
Made reservation through open table but restaurant didn't us on their reservation list when we arrived. Had to show app/confirmation. Hostess was not very friendly. Wait staff was great!
Still no points open table reservation!?!
We celebrated our 43rd wedding anniversary at McLintock's last night and had a great time. Food and service was very good - a little more expensive than we're used to, but a lot of extras were included in the price, including dessert. When I made the reservation via Open Table, I made a comment that this was our wedding anniversary and asked if they can do anything special. Without further conversation, they brought both of us huge ice cream sundaes, which were delicious!! Way above and beyond expectations.
Note: we were there on Friday night of Labor Day weekend. It was very quiet...apparently normal Fridays are very busy, but Fridays leading into a holiday weekend tend to be quiet (and Sat/Sun are very busy)
If you're brave, ask your waiter for a 'head pour'.
The food was very overpriced and the quality of things in the restaurant like the silverware and the chairs was horrifying. The plates they served us on were way to small for the food, not to mention the waitress forgot one of our steaks and when it did come out it was absolutely raw. I don't think I will ever be going back.
I have dined many times over the years at F. McLintocks and have had some very memorable meals there, mostly when we had a large group with family/friends. The staff can accommodate larger groups nicely and are always very friendly. It is still a great place for families with smaller children and is roomy enough to be comfortable. The food is still good, although on this occasion, both our steaks were cooked a little overdone for the order. I wouldn't worry about that. The wait staff were attentive enough, but on this trip seemed forgetful about any requests made by us and tables nearby even though it wasn't that busy. I would still recommend it, although it is not really the best steakhouse in the area now and might be a little overpriced for the overall experience.
We went for my birthday and it was perfect. My husband's New York steak was the best he ever eaten. My steak and lobster was perfect; cooked just the way I liked it.
The service was great and they sat us next to the window which was very romantic.
There was one thing though. We wanted our steaks, a baked potatoe, and a salad. Why can't we get just that?
Anyway, it was great and we will be back.
We went for our first anniversary dinner. We made the reservation a month in advance, we we're so excited! We got there, and they sat us next to a group of 50 people, pouring pitchers of water on their heads for entertainment. We asked to move and got a great table next to the window, noisy but we could at least hear each other talk. We ordered food and my husband's dinner was great. I ordered a medium rare steak (supposed to be the pride of steak houses). I got a raw steak. Sent it back to be cooked a bit more. My husband was almost done with his meal when they brought me a brand new blue in the center steak. I was so upset. I won't eat raw meat and my husband was almost done eating. I refused the meal and ate the family style beans and potatoes for dinner. The staff were great and tried to make it up to me and gave us a nice dessert and song to celebrate our special day. But the cook blew it big time and we will never be back. It's disappointing because I had heard such wonderful things about this restaurant. And you only get one first anniversary dinner.
Very good dinner for my 71st birthday. I had a T bone steak, the best steak I have had in recent past. We used to be regulars for anniversaries and birthdays but my wife likes Halibut which was removed from the menu. For my birthday I wanted a steak and I knew McLintocks could deliver.
Great food, filet mignon was best I've had in years. Sides served family style all you can eat. Love how they bring saddlebags full of toys for the kids after the meal. All entrees come with ice cream. Come very hungry and buy a boot mug in the gift shop on your way out for rootbeer floats!
Things where forgotten that we had ordered. Took a while to get refills and we would ask. The steaks were undercooked. Steaks were undercooked And we ordered medium well.
Other than that it was a really fun place to be and I felt like all the servers and everyone we're glad we were there. Food was good and I would suggest this place for anyone.
I hope this honest review does not come off too harsh because this place is wonderful.
Celebrated my motherin-law's 85th birthday. Staff was very accomodating and fun. Lot's of food and very good meal. We loved the tan ferrari after dinner drink, which is included with your meal (our choice over the complimentary ice cream...). We had a great view of the ocean.
My husband had his favorite Tunny Special bacon-wrapped filet, topped with bearnaise sauce, asparagus and shrimp with rice and steamed veggies. He loved it! I had the split meal which included the sides of: cowboy potatoes, onion rings, beans, bread (the only thing that wasn't memorable, not worth the calories), plus a tan Ferrari or ice cream for dessert. They are way too generous in their servings. Always food to take home. I recommend making a reservation for 4 or 4:30 and requesting a window table. You won't regret it. The best food in the entire McClintock chain. Prices may seem high, but you get lots of great food for your $$ which makes it a great value.
F. McClintocks is one of our favorite places to eat in Pismo Beach. The food was awesome. We came from 4 1/2 hrs away to celebrate our anniversary in Pismo just so we can eat there.
The only thing we didn't like this time is that the owner is letting the place go down. The carpet in dining room was super dirty and wrinkly in lots of areas and crumbs were on the floor. Part of the restaurant was blocked off, I think because it was not busy. The restaurant could use some thorough cleaning and upgrades at least on the flooring.
I hope next year when we go back to Pismo it will not be worse. It was a little of a turn off to return, even though the food was delicious.
I used Open table to reserve our party of 8 but had to break it up in two different reservations under 2 different accounts with a special note to seat us close together but was pleasantly surprised to get a call from hostess that she could seat us all together! Experience was awesome!!
