F&D Kitchen and Bar Ratings and Reviews
The food was fresh and very good. We had the Sunday brunch. My wife had an omelet and I had Fried Green Tomato sandwich. HOWEVER, it was very pricey. The small Bloody Mary was $12. We probably will not go back due to the price. Haven't seen the dinner menu yet, but I can't imagine those prices!
Perfect spot for “date night” with my husband. A gem in our local
Town, though would also be worth the drive. The taste-sublime, vibrant ingredients, simple elegance, lovely atomosphere. From the farm to table preparations, and every changing specials it is our go to place for our night night.
Have been to this restaurant more than half dozen times. Food and service are usually good. Food was good again, but the grouper portion was small and the addition of two scallops to both my plate and my dates cost $30.00. Had I known this I wouldn’t have ordered them. Server forgot our Appetizer, however made up for it by offering dessert on the house. Would have preferred to just have the appetizer.
I love the ambience @ F & D! We were immediately greeted which is nice touch. Our reservation was@ 7 & we were early so we had drinks in the lively bar area & waitress was excellent!
Had a beautiful table in dining room. Our waiter was personable but service was slow. I had had Pork Belly with Smoked Bean Puree, Spicy Honey, Salty Almonds, Pickled Red Onion and Peppers $13. The Pork Belly was not editable, hard and dry which was very surprising because it’s mostly fat. The sides were delicious.
Entree I had Beef Short Rib, Red Wine Glaze, Root Vegetable Mash, Mushroom Conserva, Salsa Verde $23. The short rib was very tender but no flavor. Again, the sides were delicious.
My husband had the Chef’s-special, Cheese Burger, $21. He said it was good but for the price nothing special.
We will definitely be back, everyone can have an off night!
The food is truly amazing here. Fried green tomatoes and deviled eggs are must-haves. The fried chicken with Johnny cake was absolutely spot-on spectacular. At my table of 5, all 5 of us raved about our entrees. The decor in this restaurant is really gorgeous as well, a nice blend of crystal and iron and wood. You can wear jeans here or you can come in a business suit, and fit in either way. Room for improvement: our entrees came out one at a time. Very bizarre. Of course, the first person who received her entree waited rather than eat while the other 4 stared at her. Then came another dish. Nothing else for a few minutes. Then another dish. It was so odd and made for an awkward five minutes of people staring at their food and others staring at nothing. Halfway through our meal, right around 6pm, the music suddenly got turned up. It was some kind of garage band-punk-rock stuff, and it killed all conversation. I literally cupped my hands around my mouth to shout at my business partner sitting across from me--just a normal sized table! The waiter didn't come by for about 3 songs, and when he did, we asked if he could turn the music down. He laughed. He said some songs were louder than others. He didn't take us seriously until he came back to try and sell us desserts and coffees, and he had to raise his own voice to be heard over the music and repeat himself. Then he couldn't hear us and had to ask us to repeat ourselves!! "Gee, it is loud, isn't it?" he said. And still...the music was not turned down. So we left without any coffee or dessert, which was a shame. I bet they would have been delicious, given how yummy the entrees were.
Expected the food to be way better after reading all the other reviews. Let me start by saying hat the place is pretty and service was just great. Toby is one of the best servers I've ever had. The food was just okay though. 1/2 chicken was underseasoned and the fried chicken was more batter than chicken. Nothing special. I probably won't return, but I won't tell people to avoid it either
The food is always fresh and consistently delicious. Indoors can be a little loud with the live music - less loud toward the back, but outdoor seating is lovely, very quiet and cool even on really hot eveninings. We enjoyed a great dinner and then learned that their new Cantina was open across the street at Colonial Town Center. We went there for dessert - fantastic place - great dessert and cocktails. We will go back soon for dinner.
We went for lunch on a weekday and maybe 20 patrons so a quiet place. The 4 service people were kept busy. They start with a big cold bottle of water which is necessary in August in Florida. Not an extensive menu but good enough and they do it all well. This restaurant knows and tells you the source of the food. I do recommend this place for dinner which is when we usually go. All in all a gem for Lake Mary.
Not our first time here, the food is always great. Service this time however really sucked. We felt like we were a bother to the waiter who just wanted to get out of there.
Again the food was great, wine was great, but getting them from the waiter was not easy. Wine took 40mins to get a bottle on there menu. Soda water took 20mins to get a glass because the waiter was cleaning other tables.
We will put this down as a one off and go again but the service was really poor. Food however was fantastic, the Charcuterie board, scallops, Tuna and burger were excellent.
This was our 4th time to F&D, and I cannot wait to go back! The food is always delicious and is delivered in a timely manner. I absolutely love the Grouper, but have sampled a lot of other dishes, and any entree would be worth it. My only complaint is the acoustics make it difficult to carry on a conversation when the restaurant is full. However, we will be back!
The service was excellent as was the food. Toby provided some honest personal recommendations. We were a party of four and everyone thoroughly enjoyed our experiences. F&D is now on my shortlist of favorite restaurants in the area which are few. Thanks Toby!!!
Tonight's Prix Fixe 3 course meal was excellent and I felt a good value.
Appetizer: Pork Belly was crisp on the outside and tender inside. Wonderful flavor. Would easily order again.
Entree: Short rib with root vegetables. The vegetables were perfectly cooked. The short rib fell right off the bone and was excellent.
Dessert: chocolate cake with cherries. I enjoyed and was a tasty way to end the meal.
