F&D Kitchen and Bar Ratings and Reviews
Very delicious food. I never got HOT cornbread, you know the type that melts butter, but they really tried! Their efforts were appreciated. Mimosas were very nice. Server and manager were the best. Someone kept coming to the table after we completed bruncg. Though she said she was merely checking on us, the attention felt like a desire to turn the table over. I would certainly recommend this restaurant. In fact, I went in November for brunch and hosted my best friend from California this past weekend.
I’ve been to F&D for dinner many many times. I’ve tried almost everything on the menu and it has always been amazing for dinner with excellent service. I went for brunch today expecting the same, but was rather disappointed. Upon entering, the live music was rather loud. Then after waiting much longer than I ever have to be greeted by our server, the manager finally took our order. I thought they may have just been short staffed and let that go. We ordered eggs benny, brisket and grits, and bottomless mimosas. The eggs benny were good, but somewhat lacked flavor. The brisket was tender on the inside, but beef jerky tough on the outside from being over cooked. Add in the lack of flavor in the gravy, along with the sunny side up eggs having some of the whites not cooked all the way through, and I was very disappointed with the dish. Our mimosas ran empty and the service overall was very slow. I really hope this was an isolated case of being under staffed, but the stark contrast from what I’ve come to expect from dinner service does have me concerned. I’ll gladly go back for dinner anytime. Brunch/lunch, I’ll have to give it a second thought.
The food was good. The ambiance was good. I ordered the salad and asked for Salmon in place of the $4 piece of chicken. I assumed it would be double the price, but not $18 additional dollars for a total of $27 for a small salad. The waitress claimed not to know that it would be that much. How is she working there? This is the epitome of bad customer service. Will never come back to this business. Don’t want to get ripped off again.
We went to F&D last night with friends. Food was great, our friends loved their food, Deviled Eggs, Short Ribs, Salmon . I had scallops which were exceptional. My only comment is when I was ordering I did not want the cauliflower, red pepper , fingerling potatoes mix & some other ingredients. I asked if I could just have fingerling potatoes or mashed potatoes. The waiter said “no” because it was created to enhance the scallops?!? My comment to him was, bI’m not going to eat the side so what’s the difference? No answer just moved on.... at completion of meal he asked if we wanted dessert all declined just wanted coffee/tea. My friend decided she wanted cookies. Our waiter was nowhere to found again so we asked a passing waitress if we could just order 2 cookies, NO milk, she said of course I’ll let your waiter know. About 10 minutes later out he comes with cookies & milk. We told him we wanted only 2 cookies, he said ok & took away the milk!! When we received the bill my friend said we were charged $8 for Cookies!!! Seriously $8 for 2 cookies!
I never have a complaint about the food, it’s always about service..... definitely would be a 5 Star if they could vamp up the service.
My wife and I were staying in Lake Mary while visiting family and went to F&D for dinner based on it's rating on OpenTable and it's proximity to our hotel; luckily for us, we were in for a great surprise. The service was excellent and the food was very good! Since the restaurant was located in a shopping plaza, we were a little nervous but the atmosphere and decor was very nice!
I had the steak frites and my wife had the scallops; both dishes were delicious. We shared a nice bottle of Rioja that was recommended by the 'resident wine expert' and we weren't disappointed.
Coming from NYC, we were both very happy to see how reasonably priced the whole meal was for a 'farm-to-table' restaurant. We'll be back again!
Have loved this place for dinner on many occasions so thought we would give brunch a try. Atmosphere is great, and they always give a warm welcome at the front. The music for Jazz Brunch was perfect. First of all, I was served luke warm mediocre coffee in a mug with dried ketchup on it. No spoon. Would it be a terrible inconvenience to have a non dairy creamer of some sort available? Fried green tomatoes were battered and deep fried rather than a more traditional pan fry method. Brisket hash was over cooked and dry, B.E.L.T. sandwich was fair, lyonnaise potatoes were cold and unremarkable. It just felt like the kitchen didn’t care. Dinner here is always outstanding, brunch was not. They need to step it up and be the same place we know and love for dinner!
It is hard to find a restaurant that you can eat at when you have food allergies and this is one that you can set back and enjoy the food. Everything we had was incredible delicious and gluten-free. And the waitstaff were wonderful especial our waiter Coco, Thank you for taking care of us.
We were in town for a wedding that just so happened to fall on my daughter's 23rd birthday. So we found this restaurant to celebrate a day early. She really enjoyed it.
PROS: Wonderful food, drinks and service!
CONS: SUPER LOUD ....could not have a nice conversation!
Grouper was excellent, as always. Tried the double burger...way overcooked, crusty, nothing soecial (For the price). Service was good, but large party on two sides ruined the attempt at an intimate dinner. Open seating with almost no buffers greatly reduces the beauty of the decor. Third time....and won't go back for awhile as the menu hasn't changed since open ing.
Made reservation for NYE dinner, my boyfriend and i went In 2016 for dinner & figured we’d keep the tradition but this year was absolutely HORRIBLE! Reservation was at 8:45, did not get seated until 10pm. We got sat at a table that was open the entire time we were waiting. Then the server (who was extremely nice & undertanding) preceded to mark off items on the menu and said the kitchen was very scarce on food, and if we did order it would take an hour.... Multiple customers kept telling us to leave as it wasn’t worth it and the wait was beyond ridiculous. Manager gave excuse after excuse and didn’t even seem to care, you would think to soften the blow the manager would offer free dessert to everyone or at least be apologetic!!!!. However, I ended up leaving, as F & D is not cheap and I wasn’t going to pay with the already said horrible experience. So I left disappointed and hungry like the many other customers. Unfortunately, my NYE dinner was Pizza Hut, horrible experience. Put a horrible taste in my mouth, Never again going back to F &D.!
They were not prepared for a busy New Year's Eve. We were seated at 8:40 for our 8:00 reservation and they were out of many of the options on the menu. Our server was great, but there was only 1 manager on duty and he never came to check on us or apologize for problems. Deviled eggs were delicious, but came out with our entrees when ordered as appetizer. The owner did call the next day to apologize, which was nice.
Truly outstanding experience on all fronts. Service was superb and food was remarkable. Recommended dishes were offered by the server and lived up to their hype. The cauliflower appetizer was delicious. Definitely try the milk and cookies for dessert. Will return whenever I’m in Orlando! Thank you!
We have dined at F&D multiple times, yesterday’s was less than memorable . Service was just ok. The food was not at its best either. We ordered the smoked fish spread “we ran out” Really ? Prime appetizer 8 pm ?. Then my wife ordered the pumpkin soup, “ sorry we ran out”. Just ordered some devil eggs and went on to the entrees . I ordered the short ribs , just ok. My wife ended up with a salad. The beer was the best of the night “ Le fin de monde” Canadian , try some time.
In summary , I f I was a first time visitor I would never return.
The menu is always new and fresh. The food has been amazing every time we dine there. We haven’t found anything bad! We really love the look of the restaurant, the service has been good. I would definitely recommend this place to everyone I know! Keep up the good cooking!
The food was fresh and very good. We had the Sunday brunch. My wife had an omelet and I had Fried Green Tomato sandwich. HOWEVER, it was very pricey. The small Bloody Mary was $12. We probably will not go back due to the price. Haven't seen the dinner menu yet, but I can't imagine those prices!
